Pratt Bike Lane Extension Green lines represent already current and planned bike lanes as part of Project Greenway Blue line is lane we are proposing, between Clark and Ridge, which will connect these two areas
Pratt Bike Lane Extension Lane will be a Shared Lane. Pratt west of Ridge is a Bike Lane, but Pratt narrows east of Ridge, and limits options. Shared lane is best available.
Pratt Bike Lane Extension Where? Pratt, between Clark and Ridge. Why? This will link up with planned extensions of the Greenway at, providing east/west corridor through Ward from Ridge to Lake. Paint will be reflective. Cost: ~$30,000.

Adding and Replacing Benches Parks and Environment September 2017
Overview Benches Location: Loyola Park, Touhy Park, Pottawattomie Park and Sherwin Beach
Before Wood, splinters, and no armrests
Ouch!
New Benches Metal, sturdy, durable, with armrests
Why? Current benches: are a hazard to children and community members will need to be replaced New benches: are more comfortable will last for many, many years
Recommendation Total Cost of Project: $40,000 Eight benches at $5,000 per bench Includes removal of old benches and installation of new benches Coordinate with Chicago Park District (CPD) CPD will determine which seven benches to replace in Loyola, Touhy and Pottawattomie Park based on committee suggestions Add one bench to Sherwin Park
Streets, Alleys, & Sidewalks Committee 49 th Ward Participatory Budgeting Alderman Joe Moore Participatory Budgeting in the 49th Ward
Street Math Aldermanic Menu Money (aka PB49 monies) = often the only source of funding for residential street and alley & sidewalk repair. 700 = Ward 49 streets and alleys + miles of sidewalks. 10 years = The average life of a Chicago street, most streets begin to deteriorate after 5-7 years. 48 YEARS = How long to resurface all Ward 49 streets/alleys and repair sidewalks if you vote to allocate 50% of Aldermanic Menu Money at current costs! Alderman Joe Moore Participatory Budgeting in the 49th Ward
Street/Alley/Sidewalk (SAS) Resurfacing and Repair Process PB SAS Dbases Streets Alleys & Sidewalks PB Voting Individual votes on % to spend on SAS 2018 SAS Committee & Community Review/Revise Dbases from observation/report Account for utilities work & other funding SAS Committee prioritizes Dbases for application of PB monies Avg % of all Votes = SAS $ Alderman Joe Moore Participatory Budgeting in the 49th Ward PB49 Alleys 2018 & Sidewalks SAS Prioritized Dbases Streets Prioritized Alleys & Sidewalks Projects up to SAS $ for 2018 sent to CDOT for their project list
Previous Years Infrastructure Results Due to the increased PB money that you voted for, more streets, alleys, alley aprons, curbs and sidewalks have been repaired. THANK YOU! 6969 Ravenswood Before & After Alderman Joe Moore Participatory Budgeting in the 49th Ward
Votes Have Impact Year Voted Percent Percent in $ 2010* 7.5% $120,000 3 streets Fixed? 2011** 57.2% $572, streets % $530, streets % $620,000 9 streets, 2 streetlights % $690,000 9 streets, 3 streetlights (polar vortex year) % $620,000 6 streets, 4 alleys, 2 blocks of sidewalk % $650,130 4 streets, 6 alleys, 5 alley aprons, 2 blocks of sidewalk % $630,900 4 streets, 6 alleys, 2 alley aprons, curb, streetlight, 8 sidewalk repairs 2018???? YOU DECIDE!!!! by how much allocated to SAS * = $1.3 million in 2010, all other years $1 million in PB monies ** = 2011 first year SAS funding based on voting on percentage of PB monies to allocate & taking the average Alderman Joe Moore Participatory Budgeting in the 49th Ward

Streetlights, Traffic & Public Safety Light Up the Schools Finishing Greenview Jarvis Crosswalk Countdown
Light Up the Schools Finishing Greenview In the 2016 Cycle we voted to fund street and sidewalk lighting around Sullivan High and Kilmer Elementary The initial project estimate was low, so not all the work was completed Let s finish the Job!
What was done With last year s PB funding and a little extra from Alderman Moore work was completed on: Bosworth Avenue from Pratt Avenue to Albion Avenue North Shore Avenue from Bosworth Avenue to Ashland Avenue Albion Avenue from Bosworth Avenue to Ashland Avenue
What is left to do Lighting still needs to be installed on the east side of both schools: Greenview Avenue from Pratt Boulevard to Albion Avenue Increased lighting in these areas helps families and students find each other at events early in the morning or late in the evening Provides a welcoming space in the community and deters crime Total Cost for the project: $212,000
Jarvis Crosswalk Countdown Clark, Jarvis and Rogers come together at a busy intersection Crossing Clark and Rogers is easy! Just follow the crosswalk! Crossing Jarvis is not quite so easy There are no crosswalks here It can be hard to tell where traffic on Rogers heading East will go So let s change that!
Jarvis Crosswalk Countdown This can be easily corrected by adding one more cross walk countdown to the NE corner of Jarvis and Clark This will help alleviate confusion at this cross walk And it will help pedestrians cross with confidence The cost for this project is modest: $20,000, but the peace of mind it will produce is priceless! -For more info Visit the Streetlights and Public Safety Team after this presentation
