Becky Craig, 3 years (.648) Scott Frey, 16 years (.925) Messiah Women s Soccer Crest The Messiah College Women s Soccer team crest first appeared in January of After the 2006 season junior Corrie Jones (along with head coach Scott Frey and input from team members) put together many different ideas and drawings and came up with the design. In 2013, the Messiah word mark was brought out of the crest and placed underneath to provide increased visibility for the mark itself. The colors of Navy and White are consistent with those of the Messiah athletics program. The stars represent the number of National Championships won (2005, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012) and are placed across the top banner. The initials MWS stand for Messiah Women s Soccer. The team motto One in Heart and Mind comes from scripture found in Acts 4:32. This maxim was incorporated into the program in the fall of 2002 by Coach Frey after hearing it used as a text in a Sunday morning service for building and developing the church or body of Christ. Paul writes these words to the early church as it is forming and growing after Christ s death and resurrection. What is the key principle in the verse is not just that they were of One Heart and Mind but that they gave all of their possessions to be used for the betterment of the group. Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of his possessions was his own, but instead they held everything in common. Act. 4:32. The belief and understanding that every player who comes into our program is willing and desires to give all of their gifts and talents to the group for the common good of everyone is central to this program. One in Heart and Mind requires a selfless love by each member of the team just as Christ has loved each of us We are a program most fortunate to play a game we love, with girls we love, for a God we love. 2
