The Series: Lebanon Valley leads, The Flying Dutchmen lead in Annville, Warriors set for big matchup with Lebanon Valley In a MAC Commonwealth matchup between the top two scoring offenses in the conference, the ninth-ranked Lycoming College men s basketball team heads to Lebanon Valley to tipoff its 2018 schedule on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m., at Sorrentino Gym. The Warriors (13-0 overall, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) wrapped up the Basinger Tournament with an championship-game win over Carnegie Mellon. Senior Chris Wallace capped his tournament MVP performance with 22 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Senior Alex Newbold added 13 points and five assists. Led by two of the top four scorers in the MAC Commonwealth in Sam Light (22.5) and Andy Orr (19.2), the Flying Dutchmen (9-4 overall, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) are coming off a win over Bryn Athyn. About The Game Game Notes Lycoming leads the MAC Commonwealth in scoring (84.8), scoring margin (15.3), 3-point field goal percentage (.376), blocks per game (3.62), assists per game (17.31), steals per game (12.31), turnovers forced per game (22.4) and turnover margin (+6.15). Lycoming is one of six teams left in Division III without a loss and its 13 wins lead the country. The Warriors 13-0 start is the best start and the longest win streak in program history. Senior Chris Wallace is second in the MAC Commonwealth in steals per game (2.3) and third in blocks per game (1.3), field goal percentage (.548) and free throw percentage (.900). With 1,050 career points, Wallace needs 21 more to pass Ihsaan Davis ( ) for 28th in program history. With one more block, Wallace will tie Justin Miller ( ) for seventh in program history with 74. Senior Chris Wallace scored a season-high 22 points to go with nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks to cap an MVP performance and the ninth-ranked Lycoming College men s basketball team got out to another big first-half lead en route to an win over Carnegie Mellon in the championship game of the Louis Fleming Basinger Tournament on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 30, at Lamade Gym. It was Lycoming s third straight Basinger Tournament championship, as the team set the mark for the longest win streak and the best start in program history, heading into the 2018 portion of the schedule with a perfect 13-0 record. The previous longest streak was 12 set by the team. Wallace earned tournament MVP honors with him averaging 18.5 points in Lycoming s two wins. Senior Alex Newbold totaled 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals and sophomore Ronald Jefferson notched 10 points, five rebounds and two assists. Also earning a spot on the all-tournament team was junior Calvin Chandler, who added seven points and six rebounds off the bench after scoring 12 points in the opening round on Friday night against SUNY New Paltz. Lycoming got off to a quick start with an 8-0 run to begin the game. That lead grew to double-digits with 14:40 remaining in the first half when junior T.J. Duckett hit his first of three 3-pointers to increase the lead to Carnegie Mellon got the deficit down to as little as six with 5:56 remaining in the opening half, but could never get any closer. The Warriors shot 48 percent from the field, outscored Carnegie Mellon in the paint, turned 21 turnovers into 35 points and amassed 26 fastbreak points.

3 Warrior Game Day Jan. 3, 2018 Lycoming at Lebanon Valley Last Meeting vs. Lebanon Valley WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Down a point at halftime, the top-seeded Lycoming College men s basketball team regrouped, refocused and outran fifth-seeded Lebanon Valley, putting up 51 points in the second half and cruising to a school-record 22nd win, 88-64, in the MAC Commonwealth Championship semifinals on Wednesday night, Feb. 22, at Lamade Gym. The Warriors (22-4 overall) advance to the MAC Commonwealth Championship, where they will try to defend a conference crown for the first time in school history, when they host Albright College (13-13 overall) at Lamade Gym on Saturday, Feb. 25. The Warriors surpassed the previous-best mark of 21 wins set in , and , and stopped a string of two years in a row where the first round game winner went on to upset the top seed and win the tournament with a fast-paced effort, scoring 24 points in transition, 54 in the paint and 27 off 21 Dutchmen turnovers. Senior David Johnson led the team with 23 points and a career-high five steals and junior Chris Wallace added 16 points, a career-high seven steals and five rebounds to lead the Warriors. Junior Alex Newbold hit all seven of his field goal attempts, finishing with 15 points. The Warriors took the lead with the first shot of the second half and never let it go, as Newbold hit a layup and then came up with a steal for a fastbreak layup by Johnson. Eight more straight points followed to get the lead to double figures and Lycoming never let the Dutchmen (16-11 overall) back within 10 in the final 15 minutes, expanding the lead to as many as 27 with 1:14 left at The Warriors shot an impossibly hot 61 percent (19-of-31) in the half while holding the Dutchmen to 7-of-23 (30 percent) and 25 percent from 3 (3-of-12). The Warriors hot shooting also came at the free throw line, hitting 9-of-10 in the period after starting the game 2-of-8. The Warriors were out to run early in the game, with Newbold scoring on back-to-back fastbreak buckets to make it 8-4 with 16:15 left and forcing Lebanon Valley to take a timeout. The Dutchmen answered back, taking a lead, but the Warriors got back to their fastplaying ways, getting a nine-point advantage at with 5:32 left off an inventive ¾ court pass from Newbold as he fell out of bounds and then on the other side of the court, senior Nyk King saved it to Johnson, who hit the open layup.
