Any questions and pricing details, Please facilitymanager@stroudcc.com Lynne Jennings Facility Manager Stroud Curling Club Treasurer s Report I hope your summer has been terrific and you are looking forward to the upcoming curling season. The club is currently in a good financial position thanks to the hard work of the staff and many volunteers. The fundraising efforts and support from the club members is an important part of keeping the club financially healthy. Your Board of Directors has been hard at work to provide a Budget for the upcoming curling season. The Board has chosen to leave the registration dues unchanged for the curling season. The bar prices will be increased 5% due to the increase in minimum wage last year and this year. The Board and members will have to continue to work towards increasing the membership numbers. Increased members will increase revenues as the club is used by more curlers. Let s all get the word out that Curling is the Sport for Life and now more affordable than before in Stroud. The Financial Statement will be presented at our Fall General Meeting. Have a great curling season. 7 Clif Thompson Senior League Monday & Wednesday Mornings Junior Curling League Sundays 11:30 am Alan Beauchamp Monday Night Men s League It s hard to believe that we will be curling in 2 months after the fabulous summer we have enjoyed. Soon we will be hearing sweep instead of fore and the crash of rocks instead of the chirping of birds. I hope everyone is ready for a busy fun-filled season. As you may be aware Norm Dent passed away on June 22. I m sure everyone has their own memories of Norm but for me it will be his gentlemanly manner, his smile and that distinctive walk he had as he made his way down the ice. He will be greatly missed. Our first minispiel will be October 31. Costumes optional there may be prizes! See you on the ice! Sue Jessup Little Rocks League Sundays 10 am The Little Rocks curling program at Stroud continues to grow and attract many youngsters aged 7-11 years of age. The Stroud Junior curling program continues to be a great developmental league for new curlers, age 12-19, looking to develop their skills and learn the game with new friends, as well as for the more competitive curler, looking to compete in bonspiels and OCA events. The Junior program runs on Sundays, after the Little Rockers program. Once again, we will be having skill development and practice starting at 11:30 am for all curlers, followed by a draw (game) from 12:00 2:00 pm. We look forward to returning curlers to continue their mentoring role and make new members feel welcome and comfortable on and off the ice. Stroud continues to be represented by juniors who are very active in school and OCA events throughout the year. We will look to coordinate junior curlers who wish to play Bantam and Junior Bonspiels for the upcoming year, as well as fun bonspiels at other clubs. We will also be looking to host a bonspiel at our club in the early part of the year! The Junior program will continue to have our weekly games, fun events, and opportunities for skill development. We look forward to seeing you at our registration dates for the club in September. Please register early, as spots may fill up quickly. Also, let me know if you are an interested in helping this season on either side of the glass, as the junior program derives its strength from its volunteers. Thank you to the Newsletter Sponsors for their generous support of Stroud Curling Club. I hope everyone has had a great summer so far and are eager to get back to curling. In June, the club hosted our annual golf tournament at Big Cedar Golf and Country Club with the team of Jim Roduck, Kerry Emms, and John Hammond winning it with a score of Congratulations guys! We re looking forward to another full schedule in the first draw this coming year. Our winners from our first draw last year was Team Armstrong. In the second draw, it was Team Green that was victorious. Last year we were able to accommodate 12 teams in both draws. If scheduling permits and we have enough curlers, we will plan to do the same this year. Make sure you come out and register early to ensure your spot in the league. I ll plan to schedule the team draft with the skips following registration. A date will be confirmed shortly. Enjoy the last bit of the summer and see everyone in September at registration. Chris Hoegy Ladies Tuesday Night League A special thank you to our generous long-time sponsors, Sandy Cove Marine, Barb Dallimore and to Innisfil Funeral Home, Simon Slessor/Linda Winson.
