1 PRESIDENT S WELCOME Welcome to all our supporters and guests for tonight s Round 6 clash for the 2011 season. We welcome Albion Park tonight in what should be a very entertaining night of football. Both teams in Youth and First Grade are desperate for wins tonight to maintain contact with the competition leaders. Please join us in the bottom clubroom at the conclusion of 1 st Grade tonight for post match drinks. We will have the presentation of the Jumbuck Meats player s awards, kindly donated by Bill Turner. For all those monarchists wishing to watch the Royal Wedding tonight the bottom clubroom is open and our ladies committee have reserved the TV for the occasion (one eye on the football of course, isn t that right Edith and Christine?). The club received some sad news this week with Ben Smith announcing his retirement after playing the last couple of years with continual injury. Ben has been an instrumental member of our 1 st grade team over many years, his dedication and commitment has been unrivalled. His work off the park has been as influential as his efforts while playing and we look forward to his continued involvement for many years to come. Many argue that club loyalty has gone and is a thing of the past; people like Ben Smith refute that argument in the best possible way. On behalf of our club I would like to congratulate Ben on a great playing career, we know the extra family time will be enjoyed!!!! Richard McNeill

2 BULLI BULLETIN Football/Social News Ben Smith - Retirement After nearly 9 years service as a player at Bulli, one of our favourite sons Benny Gary Neville Smith has decided to hag up his boots for the last time. Ben has made an enormous contribution to the club as a player over the past 9 years and his passion, determination and leadership qualities will be hard to replace. The club would like to thank him for his contribution. Ben Smith congratulating Dave Buchanan after replacing him as Bulli FC captain earlier this year. Bulli FC Tour of Duty 2011 The annual Bulli FC Tour of Duty to Melbourne will be held again this year. A $200 dollar deposit is due to be paid to Ben Smith by the end of the month. The details are as follows; Date: Fri 28 October Mon 31 Oct (3 nights) Venue: Melbourne (Derby Day Weekend) Cost: $500 (includes, flights, accomodation, airport transfers, race entry and race shirt) Deposit: $200 due by the end of April (make deposit into following Acount: BSB , A/C ) Please note all players/coaching staff/committee/supporters coming on the tour are expected to do the following; - Be apart of the schooner club - Support any other fundraisers we have throughout the year

3 Controversy Corner Macca s Lookalikes Rod Brute Bernard Bastian has continued his hiatus away from the football taking part in the annual Australia Wrestling Championship. Not even recent issues with his knee have stopped him from competing, as you can see from his heavily bandaged knee in the photo below. We hope Rod turns up today to continue in his role of lookalike coordinator for the Matchday program. In Rod s absence our President, Richard McNeil has decided to continue to pick out lookalikes. His favourite last week was the Aaron O Brien/Tom Green lookalike check out the 6 for this week below. Hints: Ben Thicknesse, Kallin James, Caius Don-Pounder, Ben McDonald, Stephen Hansen, Brian Hobbs

4 RESULTS By Peter Pele Over 35 s Bulli started their round 4 match against Old Boys Utd in dominant fashion with Rodney Evergreen Paterson taking full control of the midfield alongside Declan Dowd, but a series of missed chances saw the team reach half time with the scores locked at 0-0. With the wind at Bulli s back for the start of the second half, they continued to out pass the opposition and in the 65 th minute Rod Paterson played an inch perfect ball to the far post for Derek Davies to slot home. From that point on there was only going to be one winner and barely 5 minutes later Rod Paterson found Kal Kis rampaging forward from full back to draw the keeper and finish like a seasoned striker. The third and final goal of the game came not long later with man of the match Rod Paterson playing in Steve Grech with a defence splitting ball which was dispatched into the net with no problem. Final score 3-0 in windy and rainy conditions. Youth Grade Youth Grade travelled to Crehan Park hoping to continue their good form and were boosted by the inclusions of First Grade squad members, Ben Smith, John Morgan and Steve Hansen. Cringila looked the sharper side in the early stages with numerous attacking raids originating from their left hand side, but Bulli also had some early chances and were unfortunate not to go ahead though Nino Merxhushi. As the half progressed Bulli continued to work their way into the game and were rewarded when Aaron Baker scored his first senior goal. No further goals were added after the break due to a solid defensive effort, headlined by youngster Kallin James who continues to show maturity beyond his years. First Grade Last week s First Grade game was always going to be a tight affair after Cringila bolstered their squad with a raft of players after their near relegation last season. The game started quite evenly but it was Bulli who made the first blow when Jay Lucas headed home from Jack Balmforth s free kick. Crini equalised right on half time after a poor clearance allowed Tony Deakin to finish from the edge of the area. After the break Bulli made the perfect start with Jack Balmforth blasting home from an acute angle less than a minute into the second stanza. Cringila weren t giving up with out a fight and Ben Chapman headed home from a free kick on the 65 th minute mark. From this moment on the game descending into chaos due to what could only be described as a deplorable refereeing display which saw both sides reduced to 10 men and the final goal of the game coming from Andrew Paine which originated from a Cringila free kick taken at least45 metres from where initial indiscretion occurred. This loss has dropped Bulli back down the table and they will need a positive result today to push them back up the top to challenge the likes of Port Kembla and Dandaloo.

8 Feature Advertisement - Lost and Found MISSING - SEEING EYE DOG This lovable black lab named Impartial was last seen wandering away from Crehan Park last Friday night prior to the kickoff of the First Grade game between Bulli and Cringila.
