21 Meet the Staff Coach Steve O Steen was named CVCC s head softball coach in September He is a lifelong resident of Phenix City and has been associated with CVCC since O Steen takes great pride in serving CVCC and the Chattahoochee Valley area. O Steen is married to Jane Wood O Steen, and they have one daughter, Candice O Steen Jenks, and a grandson, Benton Ryland Jenks. O Steen is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and has completed all eight courses offered by the National Fastpitch Coaches College. In 18 seasons, He has taken the Pirates to the NJCAA Region XXII tournament 13 times, to include an appearance again in His CVCC softball record is O Steen has coached six NJCAA Academic All-American teams and has coached 25 NJCAA Academic All-American players. The Pirate s strength is predictable offensive power. O Steen has had success with his players hitting the ball long and hard. He has coached two NJCAA Region XXII homerun leaders, two NJ- CAA Region XXII batting leaders, and one NJCAA Region XXII stolen base leader. O Steen has coached 56 NJCAA Region XXII All-League players, twenty NJCAA Region XXII All-Region players, and one NFCA All-American. Coach Keith Livingston was named CVCC s assistant softball coach in September, He is a lifelong resident of the Chattahoochee Valley area and has been associated with CVCC softball since Livingston s daughter, Kendall, was recruited and played softball at CVCC in and During this time, he volunteered and became CVCC s softball statistician. In 2008, he began to volunteer as an assistant softball coach at CVCC and continued in that position until his appointment in September 2012 as the new assistant softball coach. Livingston graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia. He worked at Southern Phenix Textile Mill from 1975 until retirement in Livingston and his family are members of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He is very active in his community and brings a very positive hard-working attitude to the CVCC softball program. Livingston is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. He has completed courses provided by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Coaches College and has attended training at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Convention. He has coached girls softball in some manner since Coach Gary Miller is in his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Chattahoochee Valley Community College softball program. He has coached or instructed fastpitch softball for the past 15 plus years. Coach Miller is from Columbus, Georgia and a graduate of Columbus State University where he earned a BBA degree in general business. Coach Miller played baseball at Chattahoochee Valley Community College, where in his sophomore season, he was named the Most Valuable Pitcher for the AJCC Region XXII tournament. That season, CVCC was the AJCC Region XXII Tournament Runner-Up. Coach Miller is the proud father of two daughters, Melissa and Kendall.
