The following Safety plan will be distributed to all Central Little League volunteers; a hard copy will be on hand in the concession stand. A copy will also be sent to Little League International and to Central Little League's District Safety Officer. 5 Little League Child Protection Program It is the policy of Central Little league to require all managers, coaches, board members, volunteers, hired workers and any other persons who provide regular services to Central Little League, or has repetitive access or contact with the players and/or teams to submit a 2017 Volunteer Application form, as well as provide a photocopy of a government issued photo identification card. The Safety Officer will conduct a search using the free First Advantage criminal background check provided by Little League for each volunteer application. Central Little League will retain the Volunteer Application Forms for the year of service covered in Central Little League will deem anyone who refuses to submit a completed Volunteer Application form as ineligible to be a league member. 7 Central Little League will provide fundamentals training, to include hitting, sliding, fielding, and pitching, to at least one manager/coach from each league team prior to the beginning of the season. Central Little League will provide a first aid kit to each manager/coach from each division when gear is issued. A first-aid primer is provided below. First aid and fundamentals training will be provided each year for all coaches and managers. Dates are as follows: Fundamentals Training: March 11, 2017 First Aid Training: March 11, 2017 Central Little League maintains an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) on site. Located in the concession stand, near the first aid kit, the AED is a valuable lifesaving tool. Is this present? All League Officers and Coaches will have completed the Heads Up! Concussion in Youth Sports Training and be certified by the date above.

18 The home team manager is required to inspect the field before each game or practice. Use common sense, looking for obstacles or any dangerous situation that may present a hazard to players. When a hazard is identified, stop and correct the hazard at that time. Look for holes, rocks, glass, or any object that a player could impale or cut themselves on, or cause injury. If a hazard cannot be immediately corrected, report the matter to the League Safety Officer. Games and/or practices shall not be held on fields that are deemed to contain unsafe conditions until such conditions are successfully mitigated. Ensure all bases on the game or practice field are disengageable and in working order per Little League rules. The Central Little League Concessions Manager shall be trained in safe food handling/preparation and procedures prior to the opening and operation of the concession stand. A copy of safe food handling/preparation procedures and league concession stand procedures will be posted in a conspicuous location within the concession stand. 29 When an accident happens, take action! Immediately determine the nature and extent of the injury and then immediately apply first aid. If for any reason you determine the injury needs additional medical attention, transport the child to the hospital or call 911. If transported, attempts should be made to follow parent/guardian wishes as written on the player's medical release form. Each coach's handbook contains a medical release form for each team player. After the medical emergency is resolved, the player's manager/coach shall complete and Accident Report and submit it to The Safety Officer of Central Little League. The completion of the report must occur within 48 hours of the injury. The Safety officer is responsible for forwarding the information to the proper personnel within the league. Injury statistics will be compiled and interpreted to identify patterns and problems in order to prevent or reduce future injuries. 36 Essential Rules: Each team in Central Little League will have access to a First Aid Manual and have in their possession a First Aid Kit at all practices and games. Along with the First Aid Kits, managers of each team will possess Medical Release forms for each player on their roster. Blank forms are provided in the Coaches Handbook and should be updated when necessary. The First Aid Kits issued to each team are approved EMS kits for light duty use. Each kit contains topical treatments for injuries commonly suffered in sporting activities. Ice packs are kept inside of the concession stand refrigerator located at Pen Park. Coaches may also restock their chemical ice packs from an inventory kept in the storage room inside of the concession stand. Chemical ice packs are necessary at all fields, with the exception of Pen Park. The Medical Releases have been customized to adhere to the wishes of each player's guardian. Please take time to look at each Medical Release form, noting any special player concern. In the case of an emergency, the guardian has provided instructions as to providing aid and comfort to each player, as well as hospital preference in case of an emergency. All teams/managers will have an approved First Aid Kit to carry to all practices and games. When coaches run low on first aid supplies, they can simply secure a new kit from an inventory kept in the filing cabinet in the concession stand. Please immediately contact the league Safety Officer should first aid kits and/or supplies become depleted or unavailable. During Central League's coaches meetings and Board of Director meetings, the interpretation of and compliance with Little League rules are discussed, with an emphasis placed on safety. Little League rules shall be strictly enforced at all practices and games. Players are required to wear approved safety equipment at all times, including both practices and games. All batters are required to wear a helmet when batting. A reminder that catchers are also required to wear full safety equipment when warming up during practices and games. Players shall not swing bats anywhere on the field, except when batting at home plate. Managers and Coaches are not allowed to catch pitchers, including during batting practice.

39 Prior to its issuance to coaches, Central Little League's Equipment Manager shall conduct an inspection of all equipment. Damaged equipment shall not be issued to managers/coaches and must be either repaired or destroyed. Managers/coaches shall inspect equipment prior to each use and report any damages to the league's Equipment Manager. Damaged equipment shall not be used and must be either repaired or destroyed. DO NOT SIMPLY DISCARD DAMAGED EQUIPMENT; DESTROY IT OR MAKE IT UNUSABLE TO STOP CHILDREN FROM ATTEMPTING TO SAVE IT FROM WASTE. Equipment Rules Distribution The League Equipment Manager is responsible for inventorying and inspecting existing equipment, replacing equipment as needed, and ordering new equipment, subject to approval by the Board of Directors. All equipment purchases are required to meet Little League safety standards. All teams are issued two full sets of catcher s gear, which includes helmets, masks, throat protectors, shin guards, and long-model chest protectors. The Central LL Equipment Manager in conjunction with the Safety Officer are required to ensure that all Managers/Coaches strictly enforce the proper use of all safety related equipment with each and every player under their supervision. Failure to enforce the equipment safety protocol will result in Board review. General inspection Managers are required to continually inspect their equipment and report any deficiencies to the Vice President or Player Agent of their league who will relay the message to the Equipment Manager and Safety Officer. Managers and Coaches are also required to

40 inspect player provided equipment for proper Little League compliance and safety compliance. If equipment is broken or unable to be fixed, item will be destroyed for safety. Inspection before each game Umpires must inspect team and players personal equipment for damage. Umpires must ensure that all equipment meets Little League regulations. Umpires are to confirm with team Managers that players under their supervision are properly equipped prior to the start of each game. Managers and coaches must inspect their team s and their players personal equipment for damage. Managers and coaches must ensure that all equipment meets Little League regulations. Team equipment Shin guards are in good condition and fit properly. Face masks are in good condition and fit properly. Throat protectors are in good condition and properly secured. Chest protectors are in good condition and fit properly. Catcher s mitt is in good condition. Batting helmets are in good condition and fit properly. Bats are in good condition and conform to Little League specifications. Players equipment Batting helmets are in good condition and fit properly. No jewelry is allowed with the exception of medical ID bracelets Bats are in good condition. Footwear is in safe condition. Protective cups are being worn by all players. Recommend Face Mask / C- Flap for all batter helmets. Recommend mouth guards for all infield players. Games and Practices It is the responsibility of Managers, Coaches, Players, Parents and Spectators to make sure that equipment is stored properly and securely during games and practices. All team equipment must be stored within the team dugout and not within the area defined by the umpire as in play Batters must wear approved protective helmets during batting practice and games. Catcher s must wear a catcher s helmet whenever warming up a pitcher, before and during a game and at all practices. Players are not allowed to wear watches, necklaces, rings, earrings, pins or any other jewelry during practice or games. Parents of players who wear glasses will be encouraged to provide safety glasses. On deck batters are not permitted. Managers and Coaches are not permitted to warm up pitchers during games or act as a catcher during practices.
