Community bus routes recorded a 4.0% increase in average weekday ridership. There were three 49ers football games at the Levi s Stadium recording a total of 25,826 riders, or an average of 8,609 riders per event. November 2016 had two 49ers football games totaling 25,404 riders, or an average of 12,702 riders per event. November 2017 total monthly ridership recorded an 8.7% decrease compared to October November had one less weekday than October. Ridership change from October to November typically averages -11.0%. Average weekday for November was 5.1% lower than October. Average weekday ridership is typically 5.0% from October to November. 4 Sent: Friday, December 29, :39 PM Cc: Lawson, Jim Subject: From VTA: Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Grant Opportunity VTA Board of Directors: I am happy to inform you that VTA is participating in an Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Grant opportunity. VTA staff is working with the City of San José and Resources for Community Development (RCD) a non-profit housing organization dedicated to creating and preserving affordable housing. RCD and the City of San José, as co-applicants, are preparing a grant application for approximately $12 million to support the construction of Quetzal Gardens, enhance bike and pedestrian facilities, provide Bus Shelters and purchase a Zero Emission Bus. VTA will participate as a non-applicant participant in this project. Quetzal Gardens is a planned affordable housing project to be located at King and Alum Rock in San José. It is designed as a development of 70 low-income housing units and retail for local non-profits. VTA s role will be to provide transit expertise, operate a Zero Emission Bus, and install Bus Shelters and Real Time Information Systems on Route 77 which serves this facility. The City of San José plans to present a Resolution on this matter to the City Council early next year. VTA staff plans to provide a memo detailing our proposed involvement in this project at an upcoming meeting. While not an applicant, our participation is considered necessary for a successful application. The purchase of the Zero Emission Bus and transit amenities that are part of this proposal are planned enhancements for this area.
