It would allow me to access downtown from my home just off Parklake by riding thru Cameron Park, and I have several friends who would join me if the lane were designated for bikes. It seems feasible to only use one lane of one of the 2 one-way streets paralleling the river from downtown to the park since bikes do not need one way lanes. He also expressed concerns regarding the number of cyclist accidents. Cyclist numbers have increased and fall into 3 categories. The categories are recreational, avid and commuters. Some lower income persons do not have a choice except bike riding. Safer with bike lanes for both motorist & cyclist. Cost to society high when cyclist have accidents vs. cost of paint for bike lanes. Need to catch up with other cites on Bike paths. Bicyclist want to get out of city into County. Identify Bike routes to help rides to county rounds to help citizens understand bicycle routes also. Not limited to Waco, how to make rural cities better address needs also. Recently received a 5 year grant, stretching communities to be more bike friendly. willing to work with us to get grants/write in renewals to help us. Needs help with the engineering side. CDC & DHSs, recommending communities reduce speed limits for safety reason. Hit at 35 mph 75% chances seriously injured; 20 mph is 5% chance. Would love to partner with is. I speed limit issue brought to life. How does this plan differs from other as far as emphasis sustainable & influence/growth pattern due to sustainability economically & environmentally Inverness, Waco % rule to control speed.
