1 The 2 Seater June Patty and John Golas Head for Savannah, Georgia On behalf of Bob Carbone and the other Charter Members of the MG Club of Central New York, We would like to say a few words about departing members Patty and John Golas. We have enjoyed having Patty and John as part of our MG Family for the past 15 years or so. Patty has distinguished herself as a leader as Club Secretary, Treasurer, Activities Chair, Eurocar Chair and many other roles as needed throughout her tenure with the club. John has shown his many abilities as roving mechanic on our various events, as Eurocar judging chair and just allaround good guy. He has always been available to help anyone in the club with MG technical issues. They have contributed greatly to our successes over the years. We will miss their smiles and good humor and friendship. We wish them the best of luck in their new home and many happy and healthy year in retirement.

2 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE: We re already into the sixth month of 2017, almost the half way point to the new year. June is a busy month for us as it s time for our biggest event of the year, our 15 th annual EuroCar show on June 18 th. Weather is always questionable in Central New York, however throughout our run of Eurocar shows we have been pretty lucky. We ve seen ninety-degree scorcher days as well as a rain storm or two and everything else in the middle. Keep in mind that all MG Car Club members that have their dues paid up receive FREE EuroCar car/motorbike show entry if the entry is submitted by the pre-register deadline of June 10 th. After this you pay full price. Our club presents to the general public the largest and best all European Automobile and Motorbike show in the Greater Central New York area. Participants and spectators come from miles around to see some of the most outstanding and finest examples of European cars and motorbikes in the Northeast! We have Alfa s to Zündapp s and everything in between you can imagine. For the past couple of years, we have been expanding our club, reaching out and encouraging more individuals who might be interested in an automotive organization to join our fine group. It s been over a year since we added the tag line to our club name A Car Club for All European and British Cars. Hopefully this will encourage other European automobile enthusiasts to consider joining our club. Benefits such as free registration to Eurocar, our after-holiday party and our July and August outings being subsidized by your club as well. There are times throughout the year where your club offers desserts, contributes to picnics and more. Our annual $25.00 membership fee can be considered an entrance fee to one of the most active automobile clubs in Central New York. Although not necessary, we encourage all members to participate when they can, as the more you participate the more you enjoy our company and our events. Gentleman and ladies, start your engines.. 4 MG Club Tech Night at Dave & Martha Winne s Submitted by Neal Johnson On April 26 th, Dave & Martha Winne hosted a Tech Night at their home in Liverpool. The evening started with pizza, wings & beverages for a social hour, followed by a trip to the garage to check on Dave s latest project. Dave is doing a full restoration on a 1958 Jaguar XK-150 Roadster for club member Jim Dean. The XK- 150 was built by Jaguar between 1957 and 1961, as was the last of this iconic series before the E-type was released. Jim has several MGA s and a Morris Minor convertible, but this Jaguar has been in the family for over 50 years, stored both inside and outside. The car, when delivered to Dave s, was little more than a rusted-out hulk. A car of any less significance would be relegated to the junk heap, but this is an XK- 150! Dave started this project last November by doing a lot of research and networking with the Jaguar community. The car is being restored with 100% new or rebuilt parts, beginning with a new frame. The engine, gearbox & differential have been rebuilt and installed on the new frame, along with most of the suspension. In addition to a fully restored body, the car will get a complete new interior, including dashboard & rebuilt instruments. The project is expected to take two years. Thanks to Dave & Marty for hosting this fun and informative evening! We look forward to seeing the progress!

6 DUST OFF RUN 2017 Hosted by Dave and Annie Cortese Article Courtesy of Neal Johnson Dave Cortese (Where s ANNIE?) On Sunday, the MG Car Club had eight cars participate in our annual spring dust-off run, set up by Dave & Anne Cortese. The event had already been delayed two weeks due to inclement weather, but this time we got a pretty good day. Clouds were in and out, with enough sun to keep us warm and smiling. Only once was there a short period of light rain enough for a few tops to go up. Fortunately, this was while we were at New Hope Mills, and we could stand under a covered bridge while the owner talked about the history of the mill. By the time we hit the road again, the rain had stopped and the tops were back off! We started the day about 10:30, on Fay road near Western Lights Plaza, where we met for coffee and freshly made cinnamon donuts. From there we zig-zagged west and south, to south of Rt 20 where we cut west for the tip of Otisco Lake. We rounded the northern tip of Otisco Lake, then south where we rounded the southern tip of Skaneateles Lake, then up the west side of the Lake to New Hope Mills. We arrived right on time (12:30) where we met the owner and his young assistant (his granddaughter). He gave a wonderful 1 hour talk about the history of New Hope Mills as well as the general history of water powered industry in the area. He also spoke about the evolution of grinding flour both from granite wheels and steel rollers. Back on the road we headed north for a great lunch stop in Aurora (Fargo bar & grill). It made for a great social hour where we could get to know one another a little better. After lunch we proceeded up the road a bit to Union Springs for ice cream desserts! After that, back on the road north and east to Auburn where we started splitting up towards our respective homes. A BIG THANKS to Dave & Anne Cortese for setting this up! It was a beautiful ride through some wonderful Central NY back roads and farm country!

10 MG Car Club General Meeting May 2, Welcome The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. Officer Reports a. President: Mike Mastracco Presentation to plaque and Lifetime Membership award to Patty and John Golas wishing them happiness and good health during their retirement in Savannah. Latest Apex magazine available tonight. Summer Cruise-In schedule is available tonight. Eurocar applications on table paid cub members are free. Volunteer is needed for July 11 th picnic. Oneida Shores has already been reserved. Trip to Alan Rosenblum s car collection is scheduled for July 30. Will participate with Mustang Club. There is a signup sheet. $25 donation. Alan matches for charity. Club will subsidize $25 of $50 admission fee. Jim Hearne is looking for relief for website administrator. b. New Business Peter McCarthy facilitated discussion on how to energize the MGCCCNY. 3 discussion points: o o o How do we recruit new members? How do we support and encourage members to get involved?
