Ken and Barbara Robson and our support team welcome you to the coming weekend at Newbury Racecourse and our improved rider facilities. 2. Is your bike fit and ready to ride? Whilst we have in place an excellent team to take care of essential bike services to support your efforts to cycle your challenge, It is your responsibility to make sure your bike is in good working condition and your tyres are not worn but suitable for the natural chalky loam and flint terrain found in Hampshire. Make sure you have the following survival kit Two tyres in good condition Two spare tubes Set of tyre levers Pump or gas cylinders to inflate tyre At least one water bottle Nutritional snacks Credit card and cash Mobile phone 1 3. Getting There: Newbury Racecourse, Racecourse Road, Newbury, Berks, RG14 7NZ Newbury Racecourse is conveniently located near to the town centre and Newbury Railway station. Follow brown signs and brown horse signs. It is 10 minutes from J13 M4 and easily accessible from the M3 and A34. We will be using the coach car park this year adjacent to the grandstands. Traffic marshals will direct from the security gate roundabout, past the railway station to your parking spot. It s then just a very short tarmac walk to the Village HQ. 4. Newbury Racecourse facilities Grandstand finish and relax area Extensive catering / drinks menu on offer - open from 6:30am Bar for non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages Shower and changing rooms male and female Large relax area with benches within Village HQ Male and female toilet blocks Overnight parking 5. Registration for Main Rides and Village HQ Activities

2 All registration will take place in the Centenary Bar in our Village HQ. Riders will sign for their own packs and may also sign for additional rider packs on the understanding that once signed it becomes their responsibility. a. Saturday Registration: 1:00pm to 5:30pm b. Sunday Registration: Main rides 6:30am to 9am Village HQ 2.5mile multi-lap 9:45am onwards Rider Registration Packs Rider packs are matched to your ride number and ride distance. Please check the rider sheets in registration and look for the number against your name. The registration team will ask you for your ride number, and then ask you to sign for your rider(s) pack. Each pack should include; i. Bike number incorporating timing strip colour coded by event distance WHITE 127 mile MagnifiCat YELLOW 81 mile Route80Cat BLUE 51 mile CommuniCat PINK 26 mile Breeze LadyCat ii. Zip ties iii. Route map and safety leaflet 6. The Start: Our aim is to get cyclists away safely and efficiently. ALL riders will depart between 8:00am and 9:30am after which the start gate will be closed. Riders will start in groups of 50/60 cyclists every 2.5mins. The start will be sequenced and follow these time guidelines; MagnifiCat 127 miles: 8:00am to 8:40am Route80Cat 81 miles: 8:42am to 9:05am CommuniCat 51 / Breeze LadyCat 26 miles: 9:07am to 9:30am Start gate closes 9:30am 2 7. ALL cyclists please note; This event is UCI accredited and wearing a helmet is compulsory as part of UCI rider safety standards. You must wear your helmet No helmet no ride! Your bike number with the timing strip incorporated into the back of your bike number must be displayed on the front of your bike. No bike number no ride! Marshals will be present to ensure safety for all. Please follow marshal instructions and in particular, be respectful of their requests to collect any missing helmet / bike number. As a result of detailed discussions with Thames Valley Safety Advisory Group there will be a temporary traffic light management control in place after 1.8 miles at A339 roundabout crossing from Pinchington Lane into Monks Lane. You must follow the instructions given by the marshals. 8. Rider Safety Support: HQ and on the courses We will have an incident manager at HQ to assist and co-ordinate any responses to incidents. Should you be have an incident the hotline number to call is In an emergency dial 999.

3 The following rapid response teams will be will be using Tracker to live report their positions at HQ so that we can quickly co-ordinate help and assistance: Ambulance and rapid response paramedics out on the courses Escort safety motorcycles patrolling the three rides. Banjo Cycles giving roadside mechanical assistance. 9. Rider Nutritional Support: We have six Torq water stations to support the rides - approximately every miles. The two main feed stations for 127 mile / 81 mile riders will be at 40 miles and 81 miles. In addition, the water station at Hannington where all the rides rejoin will also be a feed top-up station for the remaining 18 miles back to the Racecourse. 10. Rider Mechanical Support: Bike mechanical support and assistance will be available at; Village HQ: Banjo Cycles Hamilton Services Control Medstead Village Hall Around the courses: Banjo Cycles Neutral Assistance 11. Route Splits: The courses are inter-linked. When cyclists see and approach ROUTE SPLITS signs they should follow the clearly marked instructions for their ride distance; MagnifiCat 127 miles: Follow BLACK sign instructions InterCat 81 miles: Follow RED sign instructions CommuniCat 51 miles: Follow BLUE sign instructions Breeze LadyCat 26 miles: Follow Breeze specific arrow signs Timing Mats Riders will be required to cross the following timing mats Newbury Racecourse Start and Finish ALL CYCLISTS Hamilton Services Sparsholt 127 mile and 81 mile cyclists Medstead Village Hall 127 mile cyclists 13. Water Stations There are five Torq / water stations around the courses. Distances between water stations on your ride will vary between miles. Toilet facilities are provided at feed and water stations please respect the village and villagers you pass through and use the toilets provided and not the grass verge nearby. 14. Feed Stations:

4 Hamilton Services Sparsholt and Medstead Village Hall are the two main feed Controls for 127 mile and 81 mile cyclists. These Controls will provide; Food Selection of cakes, fresh sandwiches, fruit and snacks Drink Torq energy drinks and water Emergency Bike support Toilets - Male and Female inside the buildings Hannington Village Hall will be top-up and drinks station for ALL cyclists 18 miles from the finish.!! TAKE POT CARE HOLE 15. Marshals and Safety on the courses: The three inter-linked courses are way-marked and signed with Mavic yellow / black arrow signs. A route sheet for your ride distance is included in your pack. In addition watch out for special safety signs. Marshals will be present at the Controls and water stations. Motorbike safety marshals will be patrolling the roads and can be stopped if assistance is required. Support vehicles will be on call, and a sweeper vehicle service will be available once all riders have departed. This will always be best efforts as it may take between 30-60mins to make the collection - so your patience is appreciated. First Aid Paramedics will be onsite in the Village HQ and there will be an ambulance and rapid response car tracking rider progress out on the course. Call 999 for medical / serious emergencies. Hampshire Police and Thames Valley Police will be present to make sure everyone enjoys the cycling experience by abiding by the Highway Code. Dangerous riding will not be tolerated either by Police or the Event officials Rider Retirements and Food Station Closures: Magnificat sportive is an event for cyclists who can maintain a minimum average speed of 11.5mph (19kph) and cut off times at each Feed Control is based on this. Sparsholt Control: 127 mile cyclists arriving after 1pm will be directed to follow 81 mile route. Medstead Control: 127 mile cyclists who arrive after 3:30pm will be asked to retire and their timing chip removed from their bike. The withdrawn rider may continue the ride and will be unsupported. Alternatively a lift will be provided backed to Village HQ. Event closes 6:30pm - All cyclists must be back to Newbury Racecourse finish by 6:30pm 17. The Finish Enjoy the descent on the run in approach to re-enter Newbury Racecourse grounds through the main entrance and finish under the archway. Basingstoke Air Cadets will be on hand to welcome you back and help with any immediate needs and make sure you have water to drink. Once you feel relaxed why not head for; Drinks and refreshments and cyclist s food in The Centenary Bar Results service at Registration Torq team to discuss your nutrition Relax in the grandstand area and enjoy chatting to fellow cyclists 18. All photos will be available on his website soon after the event. Just enter your bike number to view them. 19. Rules of the Road Wear your helmet at all times on the course. Remember this is not a race, be a good advert for cycling and show consideration to other road users, even if they don t respect your space. Never ride more than two abreast and don t attempt dangerous passing. It is absolutely forbidden to cross the centre line of the road. Some riders will be inexperienced so keep your distance at all times. Don t go mad down hills as some have tight bend and watch out for gravel spots. Signal any intention to turn left or right and don t stop suddenly; there may be riders behind you. Make sure your bike is in good working order, especially the brakes! [See section 2] Cars or other support vehicles are forbidden from driving the course. Any rider seen with a vehicle on the course will be penalised and may be disqualified.
