A colourful welcome from your title sponsor Dulux Trade is not just about paint. We are real people who are passionate about bringing fun and colour to the world of cycling. Sponsoring this event is not only about promoting health and wellbeing to our team but also being able to raise a considerable amount of money for our partner charity, The Outward Bound Trust will be our third year as title sponsor and during this time we really have added colour to people's lives. We've taken young people up mountains, transformed villages, engaged local communities, helped create a family-friendly basecamp and even made thousands of you cycle over a 60ft rainbow carpet. We will be bringing a team to the event and can't wait to create truly memorable experiences during this cycling adventure. See you in May! You will receive the following items with clear instructions on what to do: Bike number (incl. cable ties to attach it to your bike) Luggage label (incl. cable tie to attach it to your bag) Accreditation wristband (to be worn at all times during the event) Timing chip sticker (must be stuck to the left hand side of your helmet and not over any other timing chip or magnetic strip) Colour Zones Each rider will be allocated a unique rider number and colour zone. The colour zone will relate to which truck you put your luggage on and where you rack your bike during storage times. Give yourself plenty of time! When you arrive, head straight to registration to collect your registration pack and then head back to your vehicle (if arrived by car) to get your kit and bike sorted. It s much easier to queue without your kit and bike. Please allow between minutes to: Park your car Register Drop off your luggage Make a final check on your bike (mechanics on hand for support) Have a final snack / breakfast (concessions available) Fill your water bottles (drinking water taps available) Set off! 5
Section 3: Facilities and services during the event Toilets and changing area Toilets are at the start and finish locations and at the pit stops each day. We recommend coming to the start IN your kit. There are no designated changing areas. Luggage transfer We provide a luggage transfer from the start to finish point of each day of the event. Day riders have a maximum luggage allowance of 7kg (small day bag size). Overnight riders have a baggage allowance of 10kg (approximate size of airline carry-on luggage). This is plenty for what you require. You'll receive a colour coded luggage tag in your registration pack. You must attach this to your bag and take it to the correct luggage vehicle. Crew will be available to assist you. At your finish point you can collect your bag by showing your rider accreditation. Mechanical support There will be mechanical support at the start of each day, out on the road, at the pit stops and at basecamp. The mechanical teams will have a wide range of spares to ensure everyone has the best chance of finishing the route. If you have a problem with your bike mechanical support will aim to fix it for free, but any components needed to fix the bike will be charged to the rider and need to be paid for at the time of repair. You are expected to be able to repair your own punctures. We ask all riders to bring the following and to be competent to fix their own punctures: Pump New inner tubes x3 (check they fit your bike) A puncture repair kit including tyre levers We also strongly advise getting an experienced mechanic to check over your bike before the event to ensure all your brakes, cables, wheels etc. are in good shape. If you have a problem out on the road that isn t a puncture, then you can call the Event Control Mechanical support number which will be on your bike number and the mechanic team will come and find you as soon as possible. Bike storage All riders are able to place their bikes in an outdoor (not undercover) secure bike storage area at Windsor Racecourse basecamp. We will have permanent security watching over all bikes in this area. All people entering the bike racking area will have their event accreditation checked. Anyone taking a bike out will have to show the matching accreditation to the number on the bike. All Day 1 riders will need to remove their bike from this area at Windsor Racecourse before they leave (latest 10pm on Saturday 12 th May). All Inclusive Weekender, Essential Weekender and Just Ride package riders may leave their bike in this secure area ready for Sunday s ride. 6
Food concessions Lee Valley: Concessions will be available at the start on Saturday 12 th and at the finish on Sunday 13 th at Lee Valley Athletics Centre for additional food purchases. Please bring cash with you for these purchases there will not be any card machines. Windsor Racecourse: Concessions will be available at the overnight basecamp at Windsor Racecourse on Saturday 12 th and the morning of Sunday 13 th. Please bring cash with you for these purchases there will not be any card machines. If you are on the Essential package, this is where you will buy your food rather than the main catering area. Rider timing and photographs All riders will be provided with a timing chip (in your registration pack). You will need to stick this to the left hand side of your helmet and NOT over any other timing chip or magnetic strip. All rider times will be published online in alphabetical order after the event. Professional photographs will be taken at key points on the route and will be available to order online after the event. You ll be provided with more info on the event photography and how you can book this closer to the event. Please note, there may also be drone footage taken throughout the event, but this will not interfere with any participants during the Ride. Sports nutrition HIGH5 are this year s sport nutrition supplier and will be providing you with gels, Energy Source sachets, ZERO tablets and recovery on the event (see below). Please note we recommend that if you have been training on specific nutrition in preparation for the ride, then to stick with what you know. Gels, Energy Source sachets and ZERO tablets will be available to pick up at the start of the ride and each pit stop. Recovery sachets will be available to pick up at Windsor Racecourse. Please note, we do not provide milk for recovery shakes. Section 4: Kit List Luggage advice Please ensure that you clearly name label all your personal items. It s your responsibility to insure your personal belongings to a level of cover appropriate for their value. Should anything be found and handed in, you ll be able to pick this up at the info desk at Lee Valley Athletics Centre and Windsor Racecourse. Any kit which is not collected by the end of the event will be given to charity. Keep checking the weather in the week running up to the event as this may affect your packing. 7

Small travel pillow (or use a down jacket) Wash bag Personal First Aid You will be responsible for your own first aid please be prepared. Use your experience from training to learn where your weaknesses are and predict what problems may arise. Address any possible niggles now before they become injuries on the event. Our medical team has collated a list of recommended items you should include in your main packing list: Paracetamol Ibuprofen* Fabric plasters (assorted) Vaseline (or similar, for chafing) Compeed (large) Second Skin (alternative to Compeed for saddle sores) loperamide (Immodium) Alcohol hand gel (for clean hands as well as cleaning small wounds) Spare set of your usual medication; keep this in a separate place *Whilst very useful, concerns have been raised about the use of Ibuprofen and other NSAIDs (Diclofenac, Naproxen etc.) during endurance events. Whilst complications are rare, if used when dehydrated or with severe muscle damage there is a potential increased risk of kidney damage. Stomach problems, particularly if the athlete is already having GI symptoms, may also occur if NSAIDs are used. If you have kidney disease or GI problems we would strongly advise avoiding NSAIDs. If you do choose to use them or are given them en route, maintain hydrated and seek help if your urine suddenly becomes very dark. If in doubt, ask one of the route medics who will be happy to assist you. Section 5: Windsor Racecourse NB: Overnight information is applicable to All Inclusive Weekender and Essential Weekender packages only. Windsor Racecourse basecamp Windsor Racecourse is open from 12.45pm for all riders and friends and family. There will be lots of space to chill out and catch up with fellow riders. Overnight camping facilities and tent allocations There will be up to 1000 riders camping overnight at Windsor Racecourse. On arrival you can make your way to the camping area, which will have restricted access for overnight riders only. In this area you will be allocated your tent for the night, be provided with a sleeping mat and most importantly take a nice hot shower! Please remember to return your mat in the morning. Tents will be allocated on a first come first served basis within your colour zone. We can t pre-allocate tents to groups, but if you come in together and are in the same colour zone you can be allocated tents next to one another where possible. 9
Free massage (All Inclusive Weekender riders only) There will be the opportunity to have a free massage in the basecamp. Sports massages will last 10 minutes per rider. Massages will be allocated on a first come first served basis so you may have a short wait at peak times. We recommend you book your massage as soon as you arrive on site. Food and drink A hearty evening meal will be served in the dining area from 6.00pm 9.00pm to all riders staying overnight on the All Inclusive Weekender package. For participants on this package, a 2-course meal and breakfast is provided for you. For those not staying overnight and for those on the Essential package there will be a few of good quality food stands in the festival area where you and/ or family and friends can purchase food and drinks. Charging facilities Plug sockets will be available at Windsor basecamp to charge your electrical items. Make sure you label all your items with your name so they can be clearly identified. Please DO NOT bring a laptop/ipad with you due to their value and confidential nature. Please be considerate when using this facility; there will be many riders that need to charge electrical units. No hair dryers can be used in this area. Getting online At Windsor Racecourse there is no wifi network. However, standard 3G/4G coverage will work as usual. Security Site stewards are present around basecamp looking after all participants and gear onsite. Please report anything untoward to a steward. However, you must be responsible for all your personal belongings. Threshold Sports cannot take responsibility for missing or lost items. Section 6: Route and signage The route is tweaked each year to make it the best experience for you as a rider. However, the course circles the largest city in Western Europe so you will still need to pay attention as you cycle and follow the Highway Code. Route Signage The entire route will be signed with arrows like this so you shouldn t need to worry about getting lost. We sign every junction before the turn, at the turn and add a confirmation arrow afterwards. If you go more than a few miles without seeing one and you are worried that you are off course then you can always ring Event Control (see below). 10
Downloadable route files Prior to the event we will send out downloadable route files (e.g. GPX). Please head to the Rider Information Hub to view these files under the tab Route Information. Please note, the route is subject to change up until the day due to roadworks and diversions and so please follow the clear signs provided rather than your GPS unit. Emergencies and Event Control We will provide you with emergency numbers for Event Control which will be displayed on your bike number on the live event. These will be for medical/ emergency enquiries and route/ mechanical enquiries. On the road: Broom wagon There will be a broom wagon vehicle which will follow the route at the back of the rider field, travelling at an average speed of 10mph to pick up any riders that are injured or medically unable to continue. The broom wagon will leave the start at 10.00am each day and pick people up if they fall behind the route closing time of 7.30pm or the pit stop closing times see below. Once in the broom wagon you will not be able to get back on to the route. You need to make sure you remain in front of the broom wagon at all times. Pit stop opening and closing times There will be 2 pit stops located along the route each day to have a rest, restock your energy with some sweet and savoury snacks and water, see a medic or mechanic etc. There will be pit stop cut off times in place to ensure that the support on the route is as efficient as it can be. You will need to ensure that you reach the pit stop before each closing time or you will not be permitted to continue. Please click here to see these pit stop cut off times. It is imperative that these times are adhered to. Section 7: Spectators and social media Spectators Friends and family are welcome to come and see you off and welcome you each day. There will be good vantage points out on the route as well, but as these are all open public roads we encourage people to be careful and aware of all the cyclists on the event when trying to take pictures! Spectators are allowed into the festival area at Windsor Racecourse and there will be bars and concessions where they can buy food and drink. Parking at Windsor for friends and family to welcome riders in at basecamp and to stay for the festival on Saturday 12 th May will cost 5. This needs to be paid in cash on the day. All non-overnight riders will need to be off the site at Windsor by 10.00pm. 11
