Once you ve taken this course, you can lead/assist an after-school club in partnership with Active s and your local school, for any age of pupils. Suitable for ages 14 and upwards. Delivered by a Jogscotland tutor. Thu 26 th New PS Clubgolf Learn to deliver basic golf sessions to P5-aged pupils as part of this national programme which helps schools build partnerships with their local golf clubs.

Learn about child abuse and how to handle a range of situations. Delivered by Sportscoach UK Cost: 30. Fri 24 th Forres House Comm In Safe Hands course moray.gov. Specifically designed for sports club Child Protection Officers, this course will pass on the core knowledge and develop your skills in order to fulfil this important role in your club. Participants must first have attended a Safeguarding & Protecting Children workshop. Delivered by Children 1 st. Cost: 20. Tue 28 th Disability Inclusion training Contact Scottish Disability Sport on or kate.shaw@scottishdisabi litysport.com This practical course will show you how to include disabled people in your activities by focussing on their abilities rather than disabilities. The course will use the STEPS model (space, task, equipment, people, speed) model to adapt activities to specific contexts. Delivered by a Scottish Disability Sport tutor. Wed 8 th (tbc) Hockey Leader This practical course will give you the very basic coaching fundamentals of the sport enough for you to prepare a primary school squad for the Quasar Hockey Club primary school festival in Summer Term. Suitable for ages 14 and upwards. Delivered by Scottish Hockey.

3 Wed 15 th (small hall) Kwik Cricket Game Manager Cricket is a popular sport in Moray and Kwik-Cricket is played by children in upper-primary with scaled-down plastic equipment and soft balls. This course will prepare you to lead/assist a primary school squad in advance of the Kwik Cricket festivals in Summer Term. Delivered by Cricket Scotland. Wed 22 nd & Wed 29 th (twilights) both days Sports Cycle Trainer Assistant (Bikeability levels 1&2) Gain this qualification to lead Bikeability levels 1 & 2 sessions in Summer Term. Attending this course will also allow you to act as a local ride leader/assistant for the planned school cycle rides that often take place this term. Thu 23 rd & Thu 30 th (twilights) both days Sports Cycle Trainer Assistant (Bikeability levels 1&2) Gain this qualification to lead Bikeability levels 1 & 2 sessions in Summer Term. Attending this course will also allow you to act as a local ride leader/assistant for the planned school cycle rides that often take place this term. 5 days: Apr; ; 24 Jun all days Nairn Sports Club Level 2 Tennis Coach (Tennis Scotland, UKCC) Contact Kirsty Humphries (Tennis Scotland) on or kirsty.humphries@ten nisscotland.org The LTA Level 2 Coach Assistant Qualification is a 5 day assessed course aimed at people hoping to progress from the Level 1 and is the second step on the LTA Coaching Pathway. The qualification is an assessed course. Upon successful completion you will be able to lead the delivery of group coaching under the guidance of a more experienced coach in a tennis club. Cost 390, although subsidies may be available.

Thu 18th (In-Service day) tbc see Notes /Forres tbc Teaching Orienteering Part 2 (Scottish orienteering tutor) This course is for those who have completed the TOP 1 (TOP1) course earlier in the year, and will only run if sufficient amongst TOP1 attendees. This course will cover more advanced orienteering techniques, and will also be relevant to those working in secondary schools. These courses are open to school staff, parents, club members or anyone with a bit of time who would like to help us get more children, more active, more often. Most courses require very little in the way of experience - all that's needed is a bit of enthusiasm. Once trained, your local Active s Coordinator will work with you to put your newly-found skills to good use (don't worry, you won't be thrown in at the deep end...unless you want to be!). Most courses are free - in the few cases where this is not the case the cost will likely be highly subsidised for those involved in extra-curricular activity. All courses contain some element of activity so participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for getting active. Drinks and refreshments are provided for evening courses; lunch is provided for full-day courses. We can also arrange training in a range of other sports and activities (e.g. mountain biking, John Muir Award) our local partners, so if you want to learn how to deliver an activity not listed above, or if you have a lapsed coaching qualification you would like to renew then contact your local Active s Coordinator to discuss. Active s will ensure all its training and activities are delivered in accordance with the Positive Coaching Scotland principles - creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere at sessions and events to ensure young people stay in sport.
