1 Amherst School Sport Premium Funding Report Autumn 2017 Reporting Sport Premium Amherst School will publish details in a report online annually. This report aims to detail information on how Sport Premium has been used within the school and what the impact has been. Termly updated reports will be presented to the Governors Teaching and Learning committee. There will also be information updated on the termly Headteacher s Report to the FGB. Reporting to Parents Parents will be able to obtain information on how the funding has been spent and its impact via the school website. This will be updated annually. Other information linked to Sport Premium will also be communicated through the weekly newsletter when appropriate. Sport Premium Grant Expenditure Plan 2016/17 Total amount of Grant received = 9920 Spent Priorities for Ensure there is excellent access to the curriculum and sporting facilities for children with a physical disability. Continue to use (and try and utilise more) local sports clubs and coaches to support the quality of teaching and learning Maintain Gold Kitemark Provide swimming training to any new members of staff Track and assess pupils swimming ability to ensure we have a clear record of who can or can t swim 25m (2 lengths of our pool would be 30m) Provide additional swimming sessions for any child not on track to swim 25m by the summer term of Year 6 Maintain high level of clubs and extra curricular activities maintain registers as a record Maintain high level of participation in inter school competitions Maintain and increase opportunities to link with local sports clubs and sports scholarships to secondary schools Ensure there is a clear pathway to identify talent and help parents join local clubs 1
2 Sport Premium Spend Investment Activities Impact 400 Aqua Swimming Specialist swimming teacher provided for two classes (two new members of staff joined in Sept 2016) in Term 1. Staff training provide by working alongside specialist swimming teacher. specialist teacher. Opportunity to observe children swimming and assess their ability (including supply costs for all teaching staff (x 4 days) Aquability To provide swimming training for 2 members of staff All staff on the programme to complete Module 1 (2 days) and Module 2 (1 day). All staff on the programme to complete ASA Lifeguard training (1 day). Specialist teacher provided and all teachers experienced 6 weeks of working alongside Development of teaching strategies and opportunity to observe outstanding practice. Enabled new staff at the school to become familiar with the pool and safety procedures. Positive feedback from all staff. Increased subject knowledge and confidence when teaching swimming. No need for the cost of a specialist swimming teacher. Able to utilise the excellent relationships and high expectations of behaviour by the class teacher in a swimming lesson. Providing excellent value for money of the new roof over the pool. Able to swim 3/6 terms a year. Every child 2

Aquability To provide update Rescue Test swimming training for 10 members of staff 1500 Hockey Coaching Use Duncan from the Hockey Academy (Sevenoaks Hockey Club) to provide curriculum support when teaching hockey. receives a 30 min lesson for half the school year. Continued use of staff already invested in regarding training. Benefits of own staff delivering swimming lessons. Highly successful and now coaches hockey on Thurs pm all year. After school club on the playground also established. Free Cricket Coaching Access free cricket coaching from Holmesdale CC Highly successful. Year 5 received coaching in the summer term. Coaching to continue all year round and use school hall in the winter (Year 3). Parents to pay for club Gymnastics Coaching Employ Alison Carroll (Lightening Gymnastics) to provide gymnastics curriculum coaching and training to class teachers. After school club established 1500 Rugby Coaching Provide rugby coach from Sevenoaks Rugby Club to provide curriculum support to all years and help run TAG Rugby club and school team for Years 5/6. Use existing trained staff. Swimming Ensure all children can swim 25m by the end of Year 6. Assess all children at the beginning of Term 5 to list who can/can t swim two lengths of the school pool (30m). Explore providing additional support to any child that is not on track to swim 25m by end of Year 6. Non swimmers club established and run by Miss Jones and Miss Wonnacott in Terms 1, 5 and 6. Highly successful and rugby coaching now established and runs for all year groups. 94/96 children in Year 6 able to swim 25m. Need to continue to refine and improve tracking of swimming length progression. 3

Achieved July 2017 second year in a row Gold has been achieved Disabled Access Improve disabled access to the playing field. New slope relayed and extended to improve wheelchair access.
