11 Men s and Women BodyBuilding Round One - Symmetry In this round Competitors will face the Judging panel and perform four quarter turns. This displays their physique from every angle. The quarter turns are performed with both feet flat on the floor with arms at either side. Bodybuilding competitors should not twist or turn their physiques during this round. In this round we are looking for the following:: 1. Structural flaws - Faults within the competitor's skeletal structure 2. Proportion - The balance of one muscle group to another e.g. lower body to upper body, biceps to calves, waist to quadriceps etc. 3. Balance - The left side of a competitor's body compared to the right, the front compared to the rear. 4. Symmetry - The competitor's overall shape and line. In this round a competitor losses one point for every fault found. So that the competitor with the fewest points is ranked 1st. In the front-on position, look for balance - even development on each side of the body. Also proportion, is the lower body developed to the same extent as the upper body? Is the neck the same size as biceps and calves? When competitors turn to the side, the ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle should be in a straight line. There should not be excessive curvature of the spine. The back should have the same degree of muscle thickness as the chest and the hamstring and gluteus should be as full as the quadriceps. When the competitors turn to the rear, check that the spine is straight and does not curve to either side, also check the muscular development of each side of the back. In this round judges take into account the muscularity of the particular muscle groups. Judges assess a physique as consisting of nine major muscle groups: Chest, Back, Shoulders, Triceps, Biceps, Abdominals, Quadriceps, Hamstrings and Calves. Competitors should lose points for having too much fat on each muscle group Round Two - Muscularity In this round competitors perform the following compulsory poses. Muscle size and dimension is emphasised - judges reward bodybuilders. Front Double Biceps Front Lateral Spread Side Chest (either side at the choice of the competitor) Side Triceps (again, either side) Rear Double Biceps Rear Lateral Spread Abdominal and Thigh Most Muscular In this round judges are comparing competitors for the following: Muscularity - The shape, thickness and quality of muscle Proportion - The balance of one muscle group against another Definition - Muscle separation, definition and vascularity Balance - Left side of the body compared to the right, front compared to rear

12 Ms Figure The requirement for the figure division varies from female bodybuilding in subtle ways. While Ms Figure competitors should not have the bulk of a bodybuilder, it is judged along the lines of a bodybuilding contest. As with all divisions, we require the competitors to reduce their body fat as low as possible, we still expect hardness and definition, but taken to the point that stops before a competitor loses their figure or shape and the individual muscle groups lose their fullness or dimension. In round one, Ms Figure competitors perform five compulsory poses: The concept of Ms Figure is to express more femininity than is done in bodybuilding. As such: Front double bicep Side chest (any side) Side triceps (any side) Rear double bicep Abdominal & thigh. High heel shoes are worn Hands remain "open" not clenched during the posing Jewellery and hair decorations are allowed Competitors may twist their physique during the symmetry round - but the Head Judge may ask for a straight line up if the closeness of the division requires full scrutiny.

13 Mr Physique CRITERIA Excellent Body Conditioning, Good Muscularity & Symmetry. Fit & Athletic Physique - Not the bulky mass of a bodybuilder. Judges will be looking for fit and athletic contestants who display the proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition. This is not a bodybuilding contest so extreme muscularity size will be marked down. Stage Presence and Personality Competitors will be asked to walk on stage in shorts. No shirts and no shoes or sandals will be allowed to be worn onstage. No lewd acts allowed; for example the moon pose or gang signs. Judges are looking for the contestant with the best stage presence and poise who can successfully convey his personality to the audience. COMPETITION JUDGING Comparison Round: Mr Physique Model: Boyd Jones, Photographer: Chase Baker, Director: Vicki Arief The competitors will walk on stage in a group and be directed to do quarter turns by the Head Judge and proceed ask a series of mandatory poses. 14 Ms Bikini Diva For female competitors the difference between Bikini and Fitness Model may be slight. Critically a female fitness model can be harder, best defined as allowed to have and display a six pack abdominals. In terms of a female competitor asking Am I a Bikini or Fitness Model? the answer is not solely about the body. At the extreme of both divisions there is an obvious difference between a soft bikini competitor and a developed fitness competitor with chiselled abs. However, 80% of competitors will have a body that will fit either both division, with a combination of some developed muscle groups yet softness elsewhere. Indeed, up to 2012 both types of competitor were in the one division (Sports Model) and still in smaller contests we will only offer the Fitness Model division for everyone to enter. Therefore apart from using the six pack guideline, a competitor can also choose a division based on which title, ideals and criteria suits their competitive ambitions. Bikini Model The Bikini division offers a contest for members who compete at the softer range of physical development. (1) A competitor who prefers to develop and maintain a bikini body shape and physique. (2) A competitor with a naturally occurring bikini body who wishes to compete immediately. (3) A complete novice. Once a Bikini competitor develops increased muscle tone and/or six pack abdominals she will move into the Fitness Model division. "6 pack abdominals" serves as a very good grade. A Bikini competitor can have a flat stomach but if she has defined abdominals, they should enter Fitness Model. Competitors should display a very confident and feminine attitude and keep a relaxed posture. There is no flexing allowed. This is not a Bodybuilding or Figure competition. Bikini Diva Required Attire A two-piece fashion bikini. There is no restriction on fabric or style. However, avoid the posing costume typical of Ms Physique and Bodybuilders. A Bikini Model will be better served wearing a bikini that displays a sense of fashion and style. Competitors also wear high heels during their round. A Bikini competitor will deliver a combination of these objectives: Beauty Overall cosmetic appearance, photogenic, skin tone and physical appeal. Poise and General Impression Overall grooming, personality, self-assurance, composure and walk, Tone Overall physical tone with no muscle separation. The judges are not looking for muscle mass or muscle separation. They are looking for shapely, toned bodies. Symmetry & Proportion Overall structural harmony of the figure relative to the shape and size of various body parts and proportional balance of opposite body parts. The upper and lower extremities should flow aesthetically when viewed from all sides creating a balanced and symmetrical appearance. In the symmetry round, all competitors face the judging panel and perform four quarter turns as a whole line-up. Bikini competitors have freedom to shape their body on each turn so it looks most appealing. The turns and stances should be model-like and relaxed. Do not perform turns like Figure or Ms Physique competitors who (pose) present in a flexed, strict stance. A Bikini competitor s stage persona and self-confidence is as important as their appearance. Judges look for: 50% Stage Walk Stage craft: Presence and self-assurance, engage the audience/judges. Walk: Bikini model walk, confidence moving across the stage and turning Presentation: Appearance, bikini selection, physical attractiveness and grooming. 50% Quarter Turn Comparisons Body: Physique should display a shapely, toned body. Appearance: Physical attractiveness and photogenic appeal Execution: Ability to turn and stand with confidence and grace like a bikini model Symmetry: Overall shape and line

15 Ms Fitness In the Fitness Model (FM) division competitors present themselves as a Model. FM competitors should move, walk, stand and perform their quarter turns like a model; not a physique competitor. Overriding the physical component (i.e., training and diet) to prepare to compete, competitors need to research and replicate how a model presents themselves on stage. More than achieving a Cover-girl / Cover-male body, judges will be pay attention to the competitor s stage presence, personality, professionalism and grooming. Female Fitness Model Required Attire In the Bikini round competitors require a two-piece fashion bikini. There is no restriction on fabric or style. However, avoid the posing costume typical of Ms Physique and Bodybuilders. A Fitness Model will be better served wearing a bikini that displays a sense of fashion and style. Competitors also wear high heels during their round. In the Fitness wear round competitors should wear a two piece outfit with runners white runners are more suitable than coloured runners as you do not want the judges looking at your shoes! INBA may supply the outfit for this round please read your event information to see if you need to bring your own. Please study the judging criteria for Round One and Round Two (note: rarely a contest will offer a third round and the event information will provide further information on what is required such as Dress or Theme wear round). The way the FM division is presented will vary at each show depending upon the stage configuration and number of competitors. Competitors may be required to do either an individual or group walk across the stage, walking to the front and centre of the stage to perform four quarter turns in your own time before continuing to the other side of the stage. Following the individual presentation, the whole group is brought on stage for comparisons of the quarter turns.

16 Judges look for: Bikini Round Body: Physique should display a fit body with nice abdominal section Appearance: Does she have sex appeal? Stature: Ability to move, turn and stand with confidence and grace like a fitness model Symmetry: Overall shape and line Structural flaws: Skeletal assessment Fitness Wear Round Appearance: Does she look like a fitness model - project a natural, healthy appearance? Beauty: Is she beautiful? Poise: Does she walk and hold her stage presence with confidence Charisma: General impression

17 Ms Figure International FIGURE INTERNATIONAL JUDGING CRITERIA In most countries, Figure (International) is the most popular female division; only in Australia and NZ has Ms Physique with a muscularity round remained popular. We will refer to this division as Figure International to reduce confusion with our previous class called Ms Figure. Figure International consists of one round that has two elements an individual stage walk and group comparisons. Competitors may either come out individually or as a group to perform a stage walk there is no set path for a stage walk as stage shape and dimension varies greatly between venues. The path will be outlined to competitors on the contest day. However, all stage walks finish with each competitor performing the 4 symmetry quarter turns (in their own time) in the centre of the stage. During the stage walk judges will be assessing stage presence, confidence, execution of quarter turns, figure walk, skin tone, suit selection and overall presentation. Once the actual group posing starts it is judged identical to the symmetry round in Ms Physique. In the symmetry round, all competitors face the judging panel and perform four (quarter) turns as a whole line-up. The quarter turns are set with both feet flat on the floor and arms at either side. The terminology used in this round describes it as a non-posing or non-flexing round. Nothing is further from the truth. Think of this as the Academy Award round you only act like you are not flexed! You will be tensing each muscle (maybe to various degrees) in your body. In the first of the four symmetry comparisons the competitors face the judges. Figure International Overview Muscular Development Muscular and toned figure. However, this is not a bodybuilding competition so excessive mass will take away from the overall muscular toned physique Reasonable level of body fat showing separations between major muscle groups (ex. biceps to triceps) without visible striations in the muscle groups Symmetry and Proportion No body part should stand out from the rest, train a complete package There should be an even flow through the body Equal development between all muscle groups Stage Presence Confidence Execution of quarter turns and figure walk Skin tone, make-up, suit selection Overall presentation

19 The FUN Division for the ladies INBA ANGELS Inba Angels Costume: based on a bikini, (no G Strings) the costume can resemble that of an Angel (wings), or a Showgirl Las Vegas type costume, Feathers and frills, tulle, sequins, Diamantes, anything that is feminine and "over the top" that the competitor has always dreamed of wearing, glitz, bling and glamour is the key. However, we do not want costumes that drag along the floor, and costume must be secure, and please ladies, nothing that bursts into flames!!!! You will need to display your creation with poise and confidence. Stage: Each competitor will enter the stage on their own, and have Thirty seconds to display their costume. They will then proceed to line up at the back of the stage until every competitor has had their turn to show their creation. Remember, this is open to Fitness, Bikini and Figure girls. This is not judged entirely on the body, e.g. a six pack abdominal region is not necessary, it's more about what you bring to the stage with your presentation and personality! This is a "Fun" category! Imagine the amazing, stunning photos you will have to keep of yourself of the day! INBA Victoria has taken the true meaning of this division and registered with the Breast Cancer Foundation to allow monies raised from this division to go directly towards breast cancer awareness.
