Discontinued for a number of years, because solo whitewater canoe sales lost their momentum, we are seeing a resurgence in interest. To that end these boats are being reintroduced for those seriously into whitewater. The 21 Freighter Available in early Spring 2016 an excellent choice for northern hunting trips or just folks that need a large capacity canoe that is also designed to motor. Pricing The discount structure for Clipper preseason is different this year. It will be based on the dollar value ordered preseason, not the total number of canoes ordered in previous years. Slammed As many of you know we were slammed this past season, with wait times upwards of 4 weeks plus. You can help shorten summer build times by increasing your preseason (which increases your margins), in particular kevlar models as they take 2 to 3 times longer to build.

7 NEW MODELS from CLIPPER CLIPPER CANOES Caribou/ S Clipper is offering two new models for Both models have a traditional look with a bit of a recurve on the ends. Introducing the 16 6 Caribou and 15 3 Caribou S. Compared to our Prospector series these two canoes have a straighter keel line (less rocker) and a more shallow arch hull (greater initial stability) The Caribou (not the S ) has significant volume for two paddlers on an extended trip but is also suited for solo paddling with its narrow 33 beam. The Caribou has the looks of a traditional canoe while providing the efficiency of modern designs. Similar in length and width to the Tripper S, it will paddle well solo or tandem. We think the Cariboo is just right. The solo Caribou S has good initial stability, tracks well, and cruises even better. The Caribou S is not designed for, nor do we recommend paddling with two paddlers. The Caribou S can be ordered with a 3 way adjustable seat, just like the Solitude. Add $130 wholesale. Designed by Lloyd Beaule of Calgary, the Caribou S will find its way all over the map in the coming years. Both Caribou s will be standard with wood web seats and foam cores in the glass layups. You can upgrade either with bucket seats for no extra charge. A sliding bow seat can be added in the Caribou tandem along with a stern footbrace. Viper & Probe Clipper is reintroducing 3 of our most popular whitewater solo canoes. The Viper 11 and 12 both have a shallow arch hull which make them great surfers. The hard chines allow the experienced paddler to carve into eddies versus sliding through. These models are recommended to the most serious whitewater paddlers. The Probe is an awesome playboat designed for the average paddler. It accelerates quickly and surfs like a dream. Standard fiberglass canoes feature hand laid construction using high grade isothalic resin, Kevlar reinforcing bow and stern, and foam filled flotation tanks. Ribs are offered in the more expensive models for additional weight savings. 2. Kevlar Duraflex is made with a special high strength resin called 8084XD. It has a higher elongation factor than epoxy or other vinyl ester resins. Kevlar Duraflex canoes are built with a skin coat construction and are similar to an ultralight in appearance. The Kevlar Duraflex has two layers of S-Glass and multiple layers of Kevlar. The hull has a ribless construction (no ribs or core to damage). It is stiffened with multiple layers of unidirectional glass. 3. Standard Kevlar construction is of multiple layers of Kevlar laminated around a central layer of C.A.P. giving extra resistance to delamination. Isothalic resin is used. Hulls are reinforced with closed cell marine foam vacuum-bagged into place. This provides great stiffness at a light weight. 4. Ultralight construction features a clear Kevlar hull with a 6 oz. layer of clear S-Glass cloth on the outside surface. The Tripper-S and Solitude are exceptions, they feature a 4 oz. layer of clear S-Glass. Two layers of Kevlar provide additional reinforcing with a vacuum-bagged foam core. Isothalic resin is used. For the additional strength and durability sometimes required for expedition canoes, the optional vinyl ester resin should be ordered. 5. Custom Kevlar is Clipper's new two-layer Kevlar layup. A significant reduction in weight is achieved by eliminating the third layer of material normally found in standard Kevlar and Ultralight construction. The canoes come standard with aluminum trim. Foam side ribs insure excellent rigidity. As with any skin coat layup, small cosmetic blemishes may occur. 6. Pro boat layup is similar to Custom Kevlar with the following differences: more side ribs, cedar laminated gunnels and foam bulkheads. It is similar to our marathon racing hulls. 7. The Sea Clipper Elite is a cut down hull. The center depth has been reduced to 13 1/2" and the bow and stern have been reduced to 21" and 19". The lower sides require less material to stiffen. The Elite layup is 1 layer of 4 oz. S-Glass and 2 layers of Kevlar. A similar layup is used on the Ultralight Tripper-S, Solitude and Packer. 8. Trim on most models is silver anodized aluminum with aluminum thwarts. Plastic bucket seats are also a standard feature though Prospectors have wood/web seats on fiberglass hangers. Other variations include: (a) Black anodized aluminum trim (b) Wood trim (c) Flat wood yokes are available for models that do not come standard with them. (d) Deep dish yokes are also an option. 9. Standard colors are yellow, blue, red, jade, white, avocado and sand. Special colors available are grey, dark green, and mango. 10. Expedition glass layup includes 8084XD vinyl ester resin and polyester cloth. Add to glass price, $100 wholesale, $140 retail. Expedition Kevlar layup includes 8084XD vinyl ester resin and S-Glass.
