2 General Information Welcome to the 2016 Emirates Palace SUP Festival and thank you for your registration! The Abu Dhabi Stand Up Paddlers along with all of the sponsors are excited to see so many people join in the festival on Saturday, March 12. A great day is ahead of us! Please take a few minutes to read through this document to ensure you re fully aware of the event info, procedures and your participation in Saturday s event. We are very lucky to be able to experience such an event at the iconic Emirates Palace, but we must respect their rules and requests to ensure they support future events for SUP, thank you! Let s have fun, share the stoke and make it a day to remember! In this document you will find the following information: - Registration Info / General Rules / Race Rules - Event Schedule - Location Map - Race Courses Registration Info / General Rules / Race & SUP Rules Registration/Check-in: Everyone (participants and spectators) must check-in at the registration tent. Participants and spectators are required to wear an event wristband. Everyone must sign a LIABILITY RELEASE WAIVER at registration to enter participants who have registered online will receive a race jersey. There will be on the day registration, but no guarantee of race jersey. All paid participants will be able to participate in the Team Relay, Tandem and N1SCO event for free. You will be checked off the race list and given a number. Please ensure you have your number written on your RIGHT leg and your RIGHT arm General Rules & Info: There will be food and beverages available to purchase only from the beach bar or the pool bar at Emirates Palace. Please bring your own water, sports drinks, energy bars and snacks to keep you fueled throughout the day. It will be hot, please ensure you have enough water to keep hydrated. You are welcome to bring your own beach chairs and sun umbrellas. There will be no chaise lounges available for event participants or spectators. Please follow the security guards parking directions, there will be many cars they will direct you as needed see Location MAP below.

3 There is a drop off roundabout by the beach please drop off your board and then quickly park your car to avoid any congestion. Bathrooms are located near the beach restaurant on the other side of the watersports shack. Please listen to the lifeguards if they provide any requests to event goers. This includes avoiding areas designated for swimming only. There will be photography and video at the event. By participating you maybe be photographed or filmed for promotional and media coverage. Race & SUP Rules: All paddlers 12 years and under MUST WEAR A LIFEJACKET this is an EP rule and no exceptions. Lifejackets are available. Please listen to race briefing maps of courses will be available All starts will have a 1 minute countdown with a single horn then a 5 second countdown to a long horn. 500m, 2km, 4km will all have beach runs please avoid interrupting the race course on the water and land don t interfere with racers just cheer from the side. All races will have a water start board side from the shore s edge. You must do the beach run for the 500m, 2km, and 4km with your paddle in hand. You must cross the finish line for the 500m, 2km, 4km with the paddle in your hand your whole body must pass the finish line after running the chute. The finish line will be at the end of the running chute. During the race feel free to paddle in the paddle area, if it s a demo please arrange with the sponsor to use do not just take a board to use. 4 5:00pm - Sprint Female - Sprint Junior - Sprint Kids - Sprint Male Awards Location Map Emirates Palace staff will direct you to the parking area, there will be a board drop off zone at the roundabout closest to the beach. Please note that with the Red Bull Air Races, the area will be busy. It is recommend you reach Emirates Palace via Bainunah Street.

5 Event Map / Race Course Race Courses 500m, 2km and 4km races all have beach runs each lap. These are 50 meters in length and you must hold your paddle in hand as you run through the race chute. Starts will be in the water standing on the edge. Red 1km laps for 2km and 4km races (includes beach run) Purple 250m laps for 500m race (includes beach run) Black 100m for Tandem, Relay and N1SCO
