3 GREETINGS Ladies & Gentlemen, The Brazilian Canoe Federation has the honor to invite to 2012 Pan-American Canoe Sprint Championship, to be held from April, 20 th to 22 nd in Brazil. The event will have the beautiful Rodrigo de Freita s Lake, located in one of the noblest areas of Rio de Janeiro, like as scene view and competition local. After 2002, 2004 and 2009 we are proud to host this important event for the form, approved by the Pan-American Canoe Federation. We look forward to receive the best paddlers in the America. The Brazil in recent years has become important center to the achievement of local events in world canoeing, like when it was headquarters of the World Slalom Championship, held in Foz do Iguaçu, beyond, of course, the Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, both performed successfully in For Brazil and the Brazilian Canoeing Federation this event provides the opportunity to show the world the qualities and abilities of the country in the programming events of this size. This fact is very important to us that will receive the World Cup Football in 2014, and also seek to bring here the Olympics Games in This is very important not only for the Brazilian people, but also for the city of Rio de Janeiro that demand through the implementation of international sporting events, the seriousness and the example of organization for the entire sports community on the planet. I would like to express to all participants of the 2012 Pan-American Canoe Sprint Championship my welcome to those who make the canoeing its most profound source of pleasure and professionalism. I would also like to express my conviction that this event will satisfy the competitors and their sponsors, spectator, official international canoeing, technicians and organizers in one of the most beautiful landscapes of Brazil. 4 RIO: THE MOST AMIABLE CITY IN THE WORLD For its many facets, Rio is the Brazilian tourism capital. The wonderful city, located in southeastern Brazil, with 6 million of habitants located in an area of km², coastal extension of 246,22 m² and green area of km², is a mosaic of enchantments scattered between the sea and the mountains. Rio is the postcard mark of Brazil. The Corcovado with Christ Redentor is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. There is also the Sugar Loaf (Pão de açúcar), a pleasurable trip that reveals the city to the world. The sights are numerous symbolic, but it is important to mention the Maracanã Stadium, the largest temple football five times world champion and Passarela of Samba, where the samba schools parade that participates in the largest event of the city, the carnival. Rio also has the City of Samba, built in an area of 114m ², in the port area where the samba schools prepare their parades, which take place during carnival. The City of Samba is a summary of the carnival, the whole year, given that it hosts daily performances, workshops and other attractions. Rio was chosen after research carried out by the universities of Michigan and California, as the city with the most amiable people in the world. This is the biggest secret of the wonderful city, the spirit of Rio, that makes all the urban mosaic of different attractions. Rio are the beaches, mountains, green areas, the outdoor sports, such as New Year's events, carnival and many others. Rio is historic, it is cultural, it is daytime, and night live. 5 THE COURSE AREA Rodrigo de Freita s Lake is a major postcards of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. With 2.4 million square meters of area and located in a prime local of the city, is on its water that the people practice any water sports, including canoeing. It was the place where the canoeing dispute occured in the XV Panamerican Games Rio 2007, opportunity to Brazil entered the history of the sport to ensure the achievement of six medals, record for the sport in the country. The lake is surrounded by a cycleway and you can follow the canoeing events from several different points. During the Pan Rio 2007 were held in lake the canoeing, rowing and water skiing events. In its surroundings, are a stage of rowing (Rowing Stadium of the Lagoon), a paved cycleway path with 7.5 km long, several recreational facilities and kiosks for food, offering items from regional and international cuisine. It is the largest outdoor food center in Latin America, distributed in an area of 204 square meters.

Caution: - Life Insurance at the regatta course; - Medical Assistance at the regatta course; The event organizers are not responsible for transport of teams, that didn t send the arrival information within establish period in this bulletin.

9 The boats with extra weight or excess baggage acquired by teams throughout the trip, such as electronics, won t be transported. The available period for transport will be on April, The participation fee is unique and cannot be fractionated, regardless of the use of all services offered, so, if your team to use the shuttle service, the participation fee will remain the same. For teams that use the transport service, the period for calculating the participation fee will be the arrival and departure date, for those who don t use, the period will be the access à course. The participation FEE no includes: - Accommodations; - Meals; - Rental Boat; - Medical Costs; - Boat transport; - City tour; The teams that wish to do city tour, should hire a local companies.

11 RENTAL BOATS The organization Will have boats for rent on a limited number. In Brazil, we have boats only of type L, from NELO or PLASTEX. Interested teams must request reservations through the registration system. 13 ACCOMMODATION AND RESTAURANTS The accommodation in Rio de Janeiro costs, approximately between R$ 130,00 (hundred thirty real) and R$ 180 (hundred eighty real) by person at hotels. In Hostel, the costs approximately is between R$40,00 (forty real) and R$65 (sixty five real) by person. A meals costs between R$ 40,00 (forty real) and R$50 (fifty real) approximately. The organization is raising the contact of these establishments and will report on Bulletin #2 at next week to all countries.
