2 How to Make a Beanie Hat for Your Dolls by Abby Lodge, Grade 6 Supplies: 1 old baby sock 1 needle and thread First, take your sock and cut off the neck. Then take a needle and thread and sew in and out all around the edge of the cut piece. Now, hold the end of the thread opposite the knotted end & pull until it is gathered together and makes a little pom pom. Tie a knot so it stays and flip it right side out, and you are done! MHSC s Newest Teacher by Eben Hammond, grade 7 A new teacher has come to this school and is a great addition to our big family of teachers at MHSC..this teacher is Mrs. Cudd. I am lucky enough to be her student, as well as many other lucky kids, and I already am looking forward to spending the rest of the year with her. She enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and traveling. She has worked hard to become a teacher and has a lot of experience in teaching. She taught at Rivergold for 14 years before coming to MHSC. She is married to Randy Cudd and has a daughter, Amanda, who is 19 and attends Cuesta Jr. College and a son, Aaron, who is 17 and goes to YHS. I definitely suggest getting to know this amazing teacher!

3 Autumn Stories By Chloe DePledge, Grade 8 Swirling leaves, red and gold. Chilling breezes, crisp and cold. Trees stand ornamented with October s splendor, Summer s gone, swept away with September. Flowers close, their petals wilted, Waiting for Spring to be presented, All that was is now no more, For Fall has nature in its hold..and autumn stories will soon be told. Star Trek Deep Space Nine Show Review by Luke Fisher, grade 6 Star trek deep space nine is a really good TV show. If you want to watch it go on your TV and scroll down. when you get to Netflix, press the play button on your remote. Then look for star trek deep space nine. when you get to it, press the play button. Then scroll over to the right and when you get to the first episode, press the play button. My favorite character is quark. He is really funny. Star trek deep space nine is about this space station. The people on the space station encounter aliens that are sometimes friendly but sometimes not. They have lots of other adventures as well. Hi and welcome Mountain Homeschool students!!! 4 Chapter One By Lillian O Day and Chloe DePledge, 8th grade In a small town in Vermont, Rose Connelly stepped off of the train uncertainly. The cramped, smoky train station was unwelcoming and forlorn, with filthy floors, unwashed windows, and shutters hanging in tatters on their hinges. Rose looked around in confusion. Which way was it to her Grandma s house? Excuse me, she exclaimed. The man rushed by without a glance. Um, pardon me! A woman bustled away. Finally, she thrust out her hand and caught a man in his tracks. Stop, Rose said irritably. How do I get to Ms. Twitchit s house? The man had a look of contempt on his face. Tourist, are you? Just go straight down the road and take a left. And with that, he shoved away her hand and walked briskly away. Rose took a few uncertain steps, and then began to make her way to her Grandmother s house.... Is that all you need, dear? Ms. Twitchit asked curiously. Yes, thank you. Rose replied happily. Everything was working out wonderfully. Suddenly Ms. Twitchit exclaimed, There s just one thing you need to know. There s a murderer in town To be continued

7 Angry Birds Star Wars 2 game review by a cat! By Corey Carlson, 6th grade Hello, I am Buzz De Cat and I will be doing game reviews this year. PS: I am not a cat. When my owner left his tablet on the table yesterday I thought I d find out why humans love those things! So I grabbed his tablet off the table and turned it on. I looked under new games and saw a game called Angry Birds Star Wars 2. So I tapped it. It turned out to be awesome!!! I love tablets now! Although it was hard to fling the birds with my paw, it was a very cool game that I found out was only a dollar! It s sort of like regular Angry Birds but also sort of not. First of all, you can teleport your Angry Birds Star Wars figures into the app! How you do this is you take a figure and put it on the telepod stand. Then your character will appear in the app! However, you need a front face camera on your tablet. You can also buy characters from the store with bird coins. Rovio is really stepping up their game!
