December 3, 2011 Chaz Moore Page 3 This week we are looking at pages 80 and 81 of your agenda notebook. This covers Monday November 28th through Friday December 2nd. This week s vocabulary word is: Equilibrium (n): A state of balance between differences. Ex: There is equilibrium between nature and people. Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weaknesses and despair but manifestations of strength and resolution. Kahlil Gibran This means that just because you are considered being weak or kind, doesn t mean you aren t strong. Study with a friend. Quiz each other, compare notes and predict test questions. When I study I like to listen to music and be somewhere peaceful. Take Action! It s not every day that people tell each other how much they are appreciated. Try going out of your way and letting a teacher, relative, or a friend know how grateful you are for the care they have given you. Be specific with examples when you convey this to them Antarctica proclaimed a scientific preserve free from military activity. What this means to me is to let people know how much you care about them and how appreciative you are to have someone in your life that cares about you.

December 2, 2011 Abby Wright Page 4 As you know, the French 2 department put on a fashion show on Friday, November 18 th. The fashion show was actually a test. But also the person with the best modeling skills and who had the best description and use of vocabulary won a small prize. It was just a different way to learn and have fun. Let s check out the fashions! Winner! Winner! Winner!

December 2 nd, 2011 Seth Gehle Page 5 Its amazing how so many of our students can be se hypocritical about our school sports. Everyone complains when our football team loses, or the basketball team loses. Not too many people notice the wrestling team, but the people who do don t like to see them lose either. Everyone just looks at our sports and athletics like a joke. It s kind of ironic how some of the biggest most gifted kids just walk the halls then go home, those are the kids we need in our athletics. Our football coach, Mr. Abbey, is a firm believer in our sports. He is by far one of the hardest working and motivating coaches. He is the one that you always hear talking to guys about playing football or wrestling. He understands that a good team comes with numbers. With numbers creates more competition for starting jobs. More competition creates better athletes. This is one of the few years where Coach Abbey is leading a small wrestling room. With less than 10 high school wrestlers, the team has a very miniscule chance at winning tournaments or even duals this year. It s pretty upsetting seeing a school full of talent and seeing so many just waste their talent away. There is always a huge rivalry with the wrestlers and basketball players, and the cross country runners and football players. You can see the effort our athletes put out when they actually try in a sport. Although sometimes when you have numbers that is enough. You have to work hard day in and day out. You have to be willing to put in the extra effort in the off season. Being on the wrestling team I ve heard Coach Abbey say it enough himself, You get better in the off season. This is extremely true, I know because I have worked hard every off season since I started wrestling my freshman year. Two years ago I entered a sport not knowing a thing about it. Now with hard work and dedication I ve moved up to one of the best wrestlers on the team. This just goes to show that with a lot a dedication and hard work you can go a long away. So many people regret not playing sports later in life. They always say they could ve been so good at a sport but they never know. You don t know how much you will like a sport until you try. If you never try then you will never know how good you could ve been.

December 2 nd, 2011 Jordan Sloan Page 6 Hello there inhabitants of Mustangland! Brass season is over, and that is always a sad subject, but as always, Pep band and Concert band is starting up! Whenever the football season ends, athletes usually join another sport to fill that athletic void. It s the same way with Brass. When brass season ends, Concert band starts. Concert band usually involves some brass members switch over instruments. Some of the songs that the concert band is playing are Ukrainian Bell Carol, Trombones On The Housetop, Echo Carol, and Little Drummer Boy. 20 December 2 nd, 2011 Isaac Spencer Page 20 Mr. Advice that man, just chock full of fantastical advice and useful tidbits of knowledge. The kind of guy you can share your troubles with and receive good helpful advice in return. Yes that man, Mr. Advice is back again and ready to help out anyone and everyone in search of some good advice. Dear Mr. Advice I am a junior in Mr. Montgomery s social studies class and I am having a difficult time completing all of the online, homework assignments. I don t have access to the internet at my home and I don t have any study halls in school. What should I do? Sincerely, Swamped Student Dear, Swamped Student If you are having problems with getting your homework done with the short amount of time that you have been allotted, then talk to the teacher about ways that you could work around this issue. I am sure that if you talked it out with the teacher then maybe he would give you the online assignments on paper so that you can complete them without the use of a computer or the teacher will find some other way of accommodating you. Dear Mr. Advice Where is Waldo? Sincerely, Children s Book Fan Dear, Children s Book Fan, Waldo is everywhere. He is all around us, disguised as the man with round glasses, a red and white striped shirt and a scarf. He hides in plain sight, surrounded by people, and he avoids the wandering eyes of observant children. Dear Mr. Advice I am a senior and I am looking for the college that is right for me. who should I ask, to help me find that college? Sincerely, Senior Student Dear, Senior Student Try asking the schools guidance counselor if he can help you, If there is one man who can direct you to the right place it should be him. The student counselor should be able to direct you to a good college that will fulfill all the requirements that you may have for your colligate future. Also be sure to think hard about your major and do some research online so you know for sure what major you want and so that you can ask any questions you might have to someone who might know, like the guidance counselor. If you are scared of the guidance counselor or just don t want to take time out of his busy schedule then maybe you could talk to a teacher that knows something about the major you are going into or even ask your parents. Dear Mr. Advice I have this horrible tendency to spend every last penny of my earned money on games and toys. I can t seem to keep myself from spending all of my money when I need it for other, more useful things. What should I do? Sincerely, Impulsive Buyer Dear, Impulsive Buyer Maybe the next time you get money you could try setting it aside and not letting it be kept in your wallet so that you see it every time you pay for something and feel the need to spend it. Instead find a safe spot to keep it or even set up a savings account at the local bank and then you can even gain interest on all the money you save, earning yourself free money for the future.

A: I have done nothing to this car, because it is all original, and I d hate to ruin that. Q: What is your favorite memory about/in this car? A: My favorite Memory in my car is when my dad drove it home, because I was in school at the time and couldn t wait to go home and see it. Q: How does your car do on gas? A: My Fiero gets about 17mpg average. Q: Is there anything else you would like to add? A: Yeah, if you like driving, you should drive a manual transmission, it s what the real drivers do! Q: What do you like about this car? A: I like the fact that it is a mid- engine car, that means that the engine is in the middle of the car, opposed to the front, it also has an economical shift light.
