FADE IN: THE CARE BEARS Care-ful Bear Episode #106b EXT. ROLLING HILLS CLOUD - DAY OPEN ON a group of CARE BEARS -- having a fun time playing games: LOVE-A-LOT jumps a rope that and SURPRISE are spinning...tenderheart and HARMONY are hula-hooping SHARE flies a kite CHEER and BEDTIME play a hopscotch-type game... FOLLOW - acting as the fun director, overseeing and participating. He passes LOVE-A-LOT, who s jumping rope, as SURPRISE and spin the two ends. Funshine jumps in and joins Love-a-Lot, jumping along with her. Try hopping on one leg, Love-A-Lot! It s even more fun that way! Funshine jumps on one leg to demonstrate. Love-a-Lot switches to one leg, she and Funshine jump in unison. LOVE-A-LOT <giggles> You re right, Funshine! I love this! Funshine jumps back out and continues on. He passes SHARE flying her kite, and offers with a smile: Hey Share, if you tug on the string...i betcha your kite will really dance! SHARE smiles and tugs on the string...and her kite soars, swoops, zigs and zags - it actually does a little dance to a rhumba/tango beat! Share reacts, delighted. Funshine gives her a big smile. (CONT.) Hey, you re good! SHARE Thanks! joins Tenderheart and Harmony, who are hula-hooping, and enthusiastically grabs 2 hoops that lie off to the side.

2. I betcha it d be twice as fun with two hoops! hulas with two hoops. Tenderheart reacts with a big smile and grabs a second hoop. TENDERHEART <laughs> I want to try that, too! HARMONY smiles her harmonious smile. HARMONY Wow, Funshine! When you organize a Fun Day, everybody has the best time! Funshine gets a look of pride as he hula hoops. INCLUDE CHEER who nods, as she and a sleepy BEDTIME BEAR play hopscotch. Well, I am Funshine Bear...and there s nothing I like better than seeing my friends have a ball! comes by, bouncing a big beach ball. Like this one? The Bears giggle at that. Then Oopsy s ball suddenly hits a rock, bounces crazily, caroms off trees, ricochets skyward. Oopsy looks around, where did it go? It suddenly comes flying back and whomps him in the butt, knocking him down. The Bears all giggle louder. (CONT.) <surprised Wha?> (then) Oopsie. gets an idea, as he puts aside his hoops. I ve got a great idea! How about a game of Belly Badge Tag! They all cheer excitedly and gather around. CARE BEARS <happy excited WALLAS>

3. Just two rules. First: make sure you don t tag anyone too hard cause we wouldn t want anyone to get hurt. And rule two -- have a humongous bunch of fun! SHARE Ooh -ooh, can I be it?! ALL Sure, Share! <enthused, agreeing WALLAS> CUT TO: They all scatter, as Share presses her belly badge..and a LOLLIPOP IMAGE flies projected thru the air. CHEER - having a great time, flees the LOLLIPOP IMAGE that s swooping all around, coming for her. She zips this way and that...but then the Badge Image swoops in and tags her badge -- which glows. She smiles. CHEER Now I m it! CHEER touches her rainbow Belly Badge...and a RAINBOW IMAGE swoops out...darts this way and that...surprise BEAR pokes her head up from somewhere unexpected and ducks back...the Rainbow Badge doesn t see her and goes after Grumpy. As Grumpy flees, he gets a sly look, touches his own badge, and his badge image shoots out and defends against Cheer s Rainbow...but then the Rainbow Image swoops around and comes up between Grumpy s legs and tags him on the Belly Badge. Aw, Fribble Dibble! Now I m it! He pushes his Badge and its image shoots out -- swoops, soars and zips this way and that, as Bears dodge it. Funshine and others dart behind trees to hide, where we see BEDTIME BEAR napping. The Grumpy Badge tags and wakes him...and he sleepily touches his own badge, and his Bedtime Image flies out, before he falls back asleep: BEDTIME BEAR Huh? Oh. <yawn> Guess I m it. Zzzz. SHARE giggling as she looks back over her shoulder, running to evade the Bedtime Badge, suddenly slips and falls, skinning her knee and banging her elbow (nothing too serious)

4. SHARE <giggling, then surprised cry> (then) Owwwwwww! Funshine pokes his head out from behind a tree, concerned. Hold it, everybody! Share is sobbing and holding her injured knee and arm, as the others gather around, looking concerned. CHEER/OTHERS Share!/<concerned WALLA: Are you okay?/poor Share. Is she alright? Etc.> looks her over -- inspecting her arm and her knee. CHEER comforts her. SHARE <sobbing> It hurts... (kindly) I know it does. I know... (to others) Nothin too serious. Just a little bruise n scrape. CHEER I ll take care of you. A couple of bandages and some rest, and you ll be fine. Cheer rubs her rainbow belly badge, causing a bright BURST of color that shoots off into the clouds/distance. Immediately the distant sound of a <SIREN> can be heard as a RAINBOW STRETCHER appears, zipping toward the Care Bears. The Rainbow Stretcher gently slides under Share, lifting her up. Funshine leans closer to his friend. I m so sorry, Share. (shakes head with regret) If I hadn t come up with the idea to play belly badge tag Share tries to smile through her sobs and pained winces.

5. SHARE <sobs> It s okay... <sob> I know you just wanted us to have fun... The SIREN starts up again as the stretcher with Share, and Cheer with it, race off for town. FRAME UP on Funshine, as it hits him...and he feels badly. (softly) Fun. Yeah. DISSOLVE TO: EXT. CARE-A LOT LATER Funshine walks along lamenting to himself over what happened. Poor Share... it s all my fault- WINGNUT comes up and BEEPS and CLICKS inquisitively. WINGNUT <inquisitive beeps and clicks> Funshine shakes his head sadly, as they walk along together. I always thought being Funshine Bear was the best thing in the world, Wingnut. Always making sure everybody had a great time. (self-chastising) But because of me and all that fun...share got hurt. Wingnut Beeps sympathetically. Funshine stops, a thought forming. (CONT.) Maybe it s time to stop being Funshine Bear He perks with an idea, even as he sees some LAUNDRY hanging on a line...including some towels. He declares: (CONT.) From now I m going to be Funshine zips over to the laundry line, and in a blur dons a towel like a cape. Hands on hips, he poses heroically! (CONT.) Care-Ful Bear!

6. Wingnut cocks his head, puzzled. WINGNUT <confused beeps> He sees someone OS My mission: to make sure everyone is super-careful, so they won t get hurt! (CONT.) And Care-ful Bear know just where to start! NEARBY walking along not looking where he s going, as he plays with a yo-yo. He hears Funshine call out: (OS) (CONT.) Hold it, Oopsy! Don t move. Oopsy stops short. Funshine rushes in points out a low- hanging branch that was in Oopsy s path. Wingnut corrects Oopsy: (CONT.) You were about to run into that branch. Oh. Yeah. Thanks Funshine! WINGNUT <beeps and clicks> (puzzled) Er, who s Care-Ful Bear? Wingnut nods his head in the direction of Funshine. That s my new name! From now on, my job is to make sure everyone is extra safe and careful! With that, Oopsy trips and falls. He looks up, unhurt and sheepish. Well, no matter how careful I am, I always seem to have oopsies.

7. Funshine thinks on that, then spots something OS that concerns him. Wait right here, Oopsy! Careful Bear shall return! Come along faithful sidekick, Wingnut! Wingnut does a puzzled TAKE at camera, then hurries off after Funshine. <NOTE: stage direction will keep calling him Funshine even though he ll be in Careful Bear guise throughout.> EXT. NEARBY, SLIGHT HILL - CONT. Funshine rushes up to AMIGO BEAR, whose ice cream cart is perched at the top of a slight hill. What are you doing, Amigo? That cart could roll down the hill! AMIGO Uh that s the idea. I m racing Harmony down to the bottom. We see that HARMONY BEAR is there too. She has a helmet, knee and elbow pads on, and has a skateboard. Funshine strikes a pose. Amigo shrugs off the concern HARMONY Why are you wearing a towel, Funshine? That s no t a towel -- it s a cape! And my new name is...careful Bear! (then) And what you re about to do is not safe! AMIGO We do it all the time. Harmony has a helmet and padding and I m just pushing my cart nobody will get hurt. During this, Funshine whispers to Wingnut who zips around the cart and the skateboard. By the end of Amigo s dialog, we see that the wheels have been stripped off the cart and Harmony discovers there are no more wheels on her skateboard!

8. HARMONY My skateboard is missing its skates. Now it s just a board. Right you are, fellow bear! And now there s no chance that either of you will get hurt! As Harmony takes off her helmet and padding, Funshine gets an idea, and asks: (CONT.) Can I borrow these? Careful Bear has an important mission! HARMONY Sure. I don t need them now. EXT. NEARBY SOON Funshine is finishing attaching something to someone OS, and then we REVEAL Oopsy, now in helmet, knee and elbow pads. Perfect! Now, you won t get hurt, even if you do have an oopsie! Oopsy smiles appreciatively, though he appears a bit encumbered. Thanks!... I guess. Funshine turns to his appointed sidekick. Come along, faithful Wingnut! We have much work to do! (strikes a pose) Care-A-Lot is full of accidents just waiting to happen. And it s up to us to prevent them! They leav e Oopsy walking a bit stiff-legged in the pads. WIPE TO: EXT/INT. S GARAGE SOON Grumpy is with LOVE-A -LOT, who holds a design for a birdhouse. Grumpy carries some wood.

9. Buildin you a birdhouse is simple as simon. We ll get it done in no time flat. LOVE-A-LOT Thank you so much Grumpy! I know two love birds who will just LOVE this! But as they enter his garage, Grumpy sees that his screwdriver, handsaw and hammer are gone from his pegboard. Hey... where d my tools go? Funshine and Wingnut appear at the door Wingnut holding the confiscated tools. Funshine is in a hero pose. Removed for your safety! Tools are danger s playground! What are you talkin about, Funshine? My new name is Careful Bear! And these tools are unsafe! He points to the each tools, screwdriver, handsaw and hammer -- pointing out their respective dangers: Grumpy starts to complain: (CONT.) You could poke yourself...hit your thumb... or even get cut! I ve been workin with tools my whole life and I m always careful. So why don t you hand them over and - Funshine holds his hand over Grumpy s mouth, shutting him up. Then he turns and leaps o.s. with Wingnut quickly following! No time for yackity-blab! Careful Bear has more work to do!

10. and LOVE-A-LOT exchange puzzled and irked looks. WIPE TO: EXT. SURPRISE BEAR S HOUSE SOON SURPRISE BEAR pops out from a bush, in a surprising way, holding a basketball hoop, which she lays down in front of her house. SURPRISE Everyone is gonna be so surprised when they see my new basketball hoop! CLOSE ON SURPRISE - as she pulls her ladder from the side of the house (OR, from a shed.) <<NOTE: stage so that it lies on its side, only the first few rungs visible to her... and us>> NEW ANGLE - But as Surprise come s to the front of the house and sets the ladder upright, ready to climb, she reacts surprised to see (and we reveal) that it only goes up about two rungs. The ladder has been cut down to almost nothing. SURPRISE (CONT.) <surprised GASP> Whoa! Guess the surprise is on me! REVEAL -, who strikes a pose and Wingnut, holding the rest of the ladder, which they ve obviously cut. Funshine shrugs. Ladders are nothing but stairways to carelessness! You could fall and get injured! So says Careful Bear! SURPRISE But I m always careful, Funshi--...er, Careful Bear. I always use two hands when climbing. Well, you can never be too careful! We wouldn t want anyone to get hurt - (a bit vulnerable) -like Share got hurt. Then he recovers his super-hero demeanor. (CONT.) Come Wingnut! Danger lurks everywhere!

11. Surprise looks at her stunted ladder, then watches Careful Bear leap o.s. She then shakes her head, annoyed. EXT. CARE-A-LOT SOON Funshine, on his rounds, sees Oopsy, still wearing the padding and helmet, trip and fall. Funshine hurries in and helps him up. Uh, I don t think the helmet and padding are helping, Careful Bear. Hmm. You re right, Oopsy! CUT TO: SOON Funshine has added onto Oopsy s protective gear, comically strapping pillows all over Oopsy s body. Funshine nods, pleased with his work. (CONT.) There! Much better. (uncomfortable) If you say so. Indeed I do! Our work here is done, Wingnut! Let us away! WINGNUT looks puzzled. Oopsy explains: I think he means, let s go! Wingnut nods and follows OS. HOLD on Oopsy who struggles to take a few steps, then tumbles over landing on his back,...kicking his legs like a turtle who can t right himself. FADE IN: (CONT.) (struggling) Hello? A little help here? Someone?? ACT BREAK FADE OUT: EXT. CARE BEAR SQUARE LATER HARMONY comes along, carrying the skateboard without its wheels... joining BEDTIME BEAR, who s dozing against the Gathering Tree.

12. HARMONY Ever since Funshine became Careful Bear, he s been ruining everyone s fun. BEDTIME BEAR grumbles. <<perhaps insert mini-flashback or thought bubble vignette as Bedtime speaks>>> BEDTIME BEAR <yawn> Yeah, I was swinging on my front porch swing, about to take a nap, when Careful Bear made me get off it. He said if I swing too hard, I could fly off and get hurt. Tenderheart joins them, as we reveal he s covered with goop. <<again, perhaps insert vignette of what he s describing>> TENDERHEART I was outside reading and Careful Bear dumped sun-screen all over me! He said, I was in danger of sunburn! - Sunburn? I was sitting in the shade under a tree! comes walking in, bent over and we see why he s seatbelted to a chair. You think that s bad? I was at home having lunch when Careful Bear burst in and strapped me to my chair! Said I was in danger of falling off and getting hurt! Two other tbd Bears (Champ and Good Luck?) hurry past, one on a bike (wearing helmet), the other carrying a tennis racket... CHAMP (OR ANOTHER TBD BEAR) Careful Bear is coming this way! Hide! He s ruining everyone s fun! Bedtime, Tenderheart, and Harmony all duck behind bushes to hide... Grumpy joins them- but the legs of his chair poke up from behind the bushes. Funshine and Wingnut pass by, not noticing. Things are quiet, faithful Wingnut! Let us continue our rounds and make sure they stay that way! After they pass the Care Bears raise up their head - Grumpy flops upright in his chair, looking frustrated and irked.

13. Leapin noodle-boots! I don t know how much more of this I can take! DISSOLVE TO: EXT. S HOUSE NIGHT It s getting dark. Funshine heads home, Wingnut with him. At the end of his speech, Funshine stubs his toe on a big rock or lawn ornament he hadn t seen. I ll tell you one thing, my trusty sidekick! Making sure everyone is super-careful is super-tiring. But I think--ouch!! He realizes something looks around and at the darkened sky. (CONT.) Hmm, I see what s happening here. WINGNUT cocks his head, puzzled. (CONT.) It gets dark at night. (narrows eyes) And darkness is the enemy of carefulness and safety! Someone could bump into something or trip. Only one thing to do! And he reaches for his belly badge EXT VARIOUS HOUSES CONT. VARIOUS: Care Bears come out their front door, puzzled -- it s nighttime but it s bright and sunny. Surprise Bear steps out her door and registers surprise. CARE BEARS <puzzled WALLAS> SURPRISE It s sunny out but it s nighttime?! Now this is surprising! Cheer and Share (who s got a bandage on her elbow, another on her knee) step out of Share s front door. CHEER I wonder what s going on? They see Grumpy and others heading to town square and follow.

14. EXT. TOWN SQUARE SOON Puzzled Care Bears gather in Town Square. (Everyone EXCEPT for Cheer and Share, Oopsy and Funshine) SHARE and CHEER enter scene. VARIOUS BEARS <puzzled WALLAS>/It s nighttime, but it s as bright as day./what do you think caused it? I ve got a pretty good idea. And it s not a what, it s a who. ALL (realizing, unison) Careful Bear. SHARE Er, who s Careful Bear? HARMONY Funshine. Except now he s wearing a towel and calling it a cape...and ruining everyone s fun. Oopsy comes waddling up, totally padded down, Wingnut by his side, chattering to him. Oopsy interprets: WINGNUT <beeping and clicks> Careful Bear doesn t want anyone to have any accidents at night, so he s making sure it s light out all the time. BEDTIME BEAR is sleepy, and concerned by this. BEDTIME But if it s always daytime, when will there be a bedtime? CHEER - brow furrowed with concern. CHEER <sigh> I d better go have a talk with Care-ful Bear. HARMONY suggests, gently but with purpose:

15. HARMONY Um, maybe you could talk to him in the morning? Right now it s bright as day and we haven t been able to have any fun, so why don t we do something fun now? TENDERHEART perks excitedly, as do the others. TENDERHEART We could have a picnic! LOVE-A-LOT/VARIOUS Oh, I love picnics!/great idea! etc INT. S HOUSE BED ROOM - SAME TIME Funshine sits up in bed hearing happy laughter and WALLAS from OS. He gets a concerned look, jumps out of bed, grabs his cape, spins around...and proclaims... What s this? The sound of careless laughter?! This is a job for Careful Bear! EXT. PICNIC AREA (TBD) SOON The Bears are all gathered for a picnic, having fun. Suddenly, Funshine shows up: What are you doing?!? CHEER Having a picnic, Funshine. Why don t you join us? He strikes a hero pose, then notices something... The name is Careful Bear, and-- Funshine sees the CARROTS a few Bears are eating. He plucks them away. (CONT.) Carrots?! Don t you realize you could poke an eye out with those, or get a headache from the crunching noise?! He see someone peeling a banana and plucks it away.

16. (CONT.) No banana s! Absolutely not... someone could slip on the peel! He sees a few others, including Grumpy, eating marshmallows and plucks them away, including the one Grumpy is about to bite. (CONT.) Marshmallows?! Sure they re yummy, but do you have any idea how many injuries they caused last year?! They all look at each other a beat, then a frowning grumpy says: No. Do you? Well... I m sure there were plenty. And that s not even counting the ones that were toasted! As Funshine goes to dump out the food articles in a trashcan... HARMONY looks bummed, addresses the others. HARMONY <sigh> So much for the picnic. Maybe we should just go pick flowers with Love-A-Lot. Funshine overhears and REACTS alarmed. Flowers!? He rushes over to Love-A-Lot and stops her. (CONT.) Tiptoe away from the tulips, Love-A- Lot! Where there s flowers, there could be bees and you could get stung! As Love-a-Lot backs off, bummed...funshine strikes a pose. (CONT.) And once again, Careful Bear has struck a blow for carefulness and safety! (shakes his fist skyward) TAKE THAT DANGER!

17. CHEER Funshine? Can I have a word with you? Funshine joins her off to the side. The name is Careful - CHEER (cutting him off) The bear I ve always known is named Funshine. The kind of bear who always wanted everyone to have fun! Funshine wavers a bit, but then sticks to his guns What s so great about fun? If it wasn t for me...the old me... pushing everyone to have so much fun, Share wouldn t have gotten hurt. Share steps in, Funshine surprised to see that she s up and about. SHARE It wasn t your fault I got hurt. It was just an accident and sometimes accidents just...happen. Wingnut zips in, chatters and mimes about Funshine stubbed his toe. Grumpy enters. WINGNUT <beeps and clicks> Wingnut says like when you stubbed your toe. That was an accident too! Hmph, if Careful Bear can t avoid having a little accident, what makes you think you can keep everybody else from having them? The others gather around and smile hopefully. Funshine thinks this over, and we re not sure if he s going to become defensive...

18. Well...You know what I think? (beat, starts to smile) I think it s time for Careful Bear to go back to being Funshine Bear again. And with that, he takes off his cape. They all cheer! ALL YAY!/Funshine s back!/hooray! I can tell that what I was doing as Care-ful Bear was starting to get everyone annoyed and upset with me. Cheer smiles, holding up her hand to indicated a little. CHEER Maybe a little. A little? He took my marshmallow! Funshine gives Grumpy an apologetic smile. Sorry about that. I ll bring a fresh bag to the next picnic. Grumpy smiles back. Then Funshine turns to the group- (CONT.) So, anybody up for a game of belly badge tag? They all cheer happily, ready to have fun, and grateful to have their fun-loving pal Funshine back to his old self! ALL <cheering> <WALLA: I wanna be it!/no I wanna be it!/<laughter> As the others run off to play tag, Oopsy, loaded down with protective gear, waddles after them, trying to follow, but then he trips and tumbles onto his back again... Uh, anybody want to help me out of this stuff? Uh, hellloo?? Wuh--oof!

19. As before, Oopsy kicks his legs, trying to right himself, but unable to do so. Funshine leaps back into shot, quickly poses heroically before helping Oopsy back up. (CONT.) Thanks Care-ful Bear! Call me Funshine, Oopsy. Funshine leads Oopsy off to join the fun as we... FADE OUT: THE END
