1 CY-Fair High School Cy-Fair Brigade Dance Team Auditions

2 Dear Parents and Guardians, September 7, 2018 We are delighted that your daughter is interested in trying out for the Cy-Fair Brigade Drill Team. As a parent of a prospective drill team member, you should be fully aware of the tryout procedure and requirements for drill team membership. You and your daughter must also realize the commitment and dedication required of all young ladies once they make the drill team. Being a member of an organization such as this has been the highlight of many girl s high school days and has afforded many young ladies an important opportunity for self-development. While a member of the drill team, your daughter will receive the best character training possible. She will experience many good times, along with much glory and recognition, as well as conformity and sacrifices. She will develop high goals and standards, maturity, dependability, responsibility, self-discipline, and life-long memories. The following outline will familiarize you with our tryout procedure and contains general information concerning drill teams across the district that must be understood before your daughter auditions. Being selected as a drill team member is not only outstanding achievement but also a great honor. It is a tremendous commitment that must be taken seriously. The Decision to tryout should be well thought out and discussed between you and your daughter. The tryout procedure can be rigorous, both physically and emotionally, so parental support is essential. Attached you will find a brief outline of the tryout procedure as well as general information concerning the operation of drill teams across the district. Drill team tryouts can be a very stressful time for some girls. For those who are extremely concerned about being accepted, the pressure can be tremendous. We understand this and will try to keep things calm on our end, and we hope you will do the same at home. You should discuss with your daughter the possibility of not being accepted for the drill team. Help her keep things in perspective. Should she not make it, encourage her to become involved in other school activitiesthere are lots! Above all, if you feel that your daughter cannot stand the emotional strain of not being chosen, then please discourage her from trying out. The Brigade officers and directors will do everything possible to make the tryout workshop pleasant and productive. Tryouts can also be an enjoyable and educational experience. We wish everyone the very best of luck. Sincerely, Erin Walker Erin Walker Director Cy-fair Bobcat Brigade 2
