2 From Our President Field Day starts on the 23 rd of June, Saturday 0800 hrs. at Lynn NsHS and Becky KC7VWI Miner s QTH 2716 Moser Road, Chewelah WA (see club website K7JAR for directions). Talk in will be on For those who would like, they may show up on Friday with their tents and trailers to get in on an extra day of camping. On Saturday there will be a potluck at 1600 hrs so bring a hot dish/salad if possible. There will be water, soda, and snacks all day long. 3 Happenings from our May meeting... Attendees: 18 Treasurer s Report: $6, ARES Report: The WA state ARES Net is on 3985 every Saturday at 9:00am and Mondays at 6:30 pm on Participation is encouraged. The ARES Command vehicle has been scrubbed and cleaned inside and out. A radio and HF tuner was mounted. Thanks to Dave WD7K, Jim WW7DD, Michael KF7SYS, George W7WBN, and Ed KF7DVL for getting the vehicle ready for use. The Chewelah club was approved to use the ARES vehicle for their field day and PARC will use it in PARC Net: - Every Sunday at 8:00 pm at George would like more net operators and suggestions on how to improve the Net. Board Report: No report this month. Announcements: Wilse presented Randy N7CKJ with a Clean Sweep mug for helping with the Sweepstakes. Congratulations Randy! Wilse received awards for the DX CW Contest, single operator and the ARRL DX Phone contest. Dates to remember: DX Convention in Spokane August 2 & 3. Tiger-Tri July 20. Annual pig roast in Loon Lake July 20 th Debbie KF7GUB handed out flyers. Old Business: Motion was passed by the club majority to revise Article I and IV of the by-laws. New Business: Motion was passed to spend $50 to include club in County s new Fact Book. Bert wrote and the Board approved the 200 word summary. Field Day: Jim WW7DD volunteered to be Chairman. John and Lauren volunteered to purchase food and paper products. Club decided on getting ribs again from Super One. Jim will bring gas for generator, ice chest, water, and soda drinks. Motion was passed by club majority for $500 budget for field day expenses. 4 ARES report by Dave - WD7K ARES Net is every Sunday at 7:45pm local. The Stevens County ARES net can be heard on the repeater located SW of Colville on Monumental Mountain and, when linked, the repeater (which has a PL tone of 77.0) located NW of Spokane on Lookout Point. The Washington State Emergency Net (WSEN) can be heard on 3985 khz at 0900 hours on Saturdays and at 1730 hours on Mondays. All are welcome to check in when Stevens County is called. On Tuesday May 14, 2013, ARES members, Jim - WW7DD, George - W7WBN, Michael - KF7SYS, and future member Ed - KF7DVL, gathered together to install some radio equipment and wash the Stevens County ARES command vehicle. The first line of business was to get out the soap and water and wash off a season's worth of grime and dust. Once that was completed, attention turned to installing the Yaesu FT-847 all-band radio and the Dentron antenna tuner. All of this work for the real reason for the get-together, Bert - KE7MAK's lunch! A hearty thank you to Jim, George, Michael, and Ed for a good morning's work. 6 PARC BIO May 2013 sorry nobody stepped forward this month. Where is he? Alberto is back in Okinawa Japan He returned on May 7, 2013 by a C-130 aircraft. It took them 3 days by ship to get to South Korea and one hour to return by air! They had a couple of days leave and enjoyed the town of PoHang. He managed to buy a men s silk suit for under $200 dollars, unlike Japan everything was real cheap! He is looking forward to starting the next quarter of school in mid June. 8 PARC Sunday Night Net By: George Knudtzon (Ham of the Year) Participation in the Sunday Night Net has been picking up. We have started a new procedure to help increase the Net activity. We enter the call sign of all Sunday Night Net participants on a raffle ticket to be drawn at the next monthly club meeting. The winner will receive ten dollars worth of HRO raffle tickets. All members and visitors that personally check in to the Sunday Night Net are eligible for the drawing. Also, the winner of the drawing must be present at the meeting. If not, another ticket will be drawn until we have a winner. Please pass the word to other hams in the area to help increase the Net participation. 10 I went to Florida and never left the ham shack! Florida had 7 special event stations with 1x1 calls that spell "FLORIDA". I was able to work them all this year during their state QSO party.
