Bryson 4-H Club held their 4-H Club meeting Monday, November 4, 6:00 School Cafeteria Club Managers Sheila Birdwell & Cindy Hand Cell Home Cell Bryson 4-H kids painted these burlap Thanksgiving Turkey wall/ door hangers at their meeting on Monday night. Please look for them on display around town at the school, city hall, etc. We will be selling raffle tickets and all 4 will be given away on Friday, November 22nd! The kids ages kindergarten - freshman had a great time painting these! Please let us know if you are interested in purchasing a ticket!

We will also need help with the shows on Saturday the 16 th. We will need people starting about 7:30 a.m. until we finish that afternoon/evening. We will need people in the office, concession stand, ring and general help. Please plan on helping. This is the council s one big fundraiser for the year. Your help is needed to set up for the District 4-H Food Challenge November 12th, 10:00 the Fair Barn Clover Corner Clover Kids meet at the same time as the Jacksboro 4-H Club meeting. Food Project Tour The 4-H Food Project participants will be going on a tour of Wiseman House Chocolates in Hico on Monday, November 25, We must be there at 10:30 a.m. for the tour. We will leave the Courthouse at 9:00 a.m. Please let me know if you are going to attend. I have to RSVP to Wiseman House how many are coming before the day of the event. Plus I need to know if you need a ride.

3 NOVEMBER Quality Counts Training REQUIRED All Major Livestock Exhibitors Quality Counts Verification Required for all 2014 Texas Major Livestock Shows Started in 2013, Quality Counts verification will be required for all youth exhibiting livestock (market and/or breeding) at major livestock shows in Texas (including the Ft. Worth Livestock Show, San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Star of Texas Fair in Austin, San Angelo Livestock Show, Sandhills Stock Show in Odessa, State Fair of Texas in Dallas, and Heart O Texas Fair in Waco). The verification process will require junior exhibitors to pass an online test that measures their knowledge on quality assurance and character education content items. Quality Counts Verification is now active and ready to be used! Moving forward into the Major Show Season, Quality Counts Verification will be a part of the process for entry in all major shows. This means youth exhibitors will need to demonstrate their knowledge of the Six Pillars of Character and the Eight Core Concepts presented in the Quality Counts Curriculum. To do this, they will need to pass an online test on the website ( ) and acquire a Quality Counts Verification number. Remember: If you have already taken the test for your 4-H age category, you will not be required to take it again. Age categories, Junior, Intermediate, Senior. District Livestock Judging Participants will travel to Vernon on Tuesday, November 19 to participate. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Wilbarger County Exhibit Building. We will be leaving the Courthouse at 6:00 a.m. Please let me know if you are planning to attend and if you need a ride. I can fit 5 4-H ers in my pickup. Entries for the contest need to be completed on 4-H Connect. They will close on Friday November 15. Please be sure to pay for the registration online. The 4-H Foundation has to have the check there before the contest and I m not sure there is enough time to mail one in from the office. Wilbarger County Adult Leaders will be selling meal tickets during registration. Tickets are $5. The lunch meal will include 2 slices of pizza, a drink, and a cookie. I would suggestion you take advantage of this. We can stop for something after the contest if you like. Be sure to bring money for the stop. County and Major Show Sign-ups We will be having a County and Major Show Signup at the Jack County Fair Barn on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, November 13 in Perrin along with the FFA. If you plan on showing in the Jack County Fair or at any of the major shows, please plan to have you entries completed. If you can t make it to one of the nights, please call or me and we will work out a time. Fort Worth entries are due that Friday and I need time to get them in. Creative Arts Entries at the Jack County Youth Fair are due to the Extension Office by Monday, Dec. 2. No late entries will be accepted. Major Show Entry Deadlines Fort Worth Friday, November 15 th All other Majors Friday, November 29 th Jack County Monday December 2 All 4-H Members are ask to bring a 12 or 24 pack of Drinks for the Jackpot Show on the 16th. You may bring them to the Extension Office or to the Meeting on November 12th

4 NOVEMBER Leaders for Life District Contest will be on December 18 at the First Baptist Church in Jacksboro. Entries will be due on November 26. Please let me know if you are interested in having a team. Community Service Concerned Citizens has asked us to help put up their Christmas decorations once again. We will be meeting on Monday, November 25 around 3:30 (after we get back from the Chocolate Tour). If you are able to help, please let me know. Garden Club Convention 4-H will have a table set up to sell raffle tickets on a rain water barrel from 8:30-noon. Please let me know if you can help. It will be at Fort Richardson. I m not exactly sure where at in the fort. Call Alinda for more information Remember to Enroll online for the H Year The Membership fee is $20 until October 31st and $25 after October 31st. Enroll on 4-H Connect! Cattle Showmanship Clinic District Nutrition Quiz Bowl We are working on a date to have a cattle showmanship clinic. The original date was set for Thanksgiving weekend and many have stated that they are not really wanting to have it that weekend. If you are interested in doing the Nutrition Quiz Bowl, we need to get working on it. Entries will be due Nov 26. District Contest will be in Seymour on December 11. Please let me know if you want to get a team together. Photography Contest Photography Day Photography Day will be held on Tuesday, November 26, We will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Extension Office. Please bring money for admission and a lunch.
