2 County Record Book Congratulations, to all the 4-H ers that handed in a 4-H Record Book, the results are as follows: Emily Brite - First place Senior and will advance to District - Sheep Brayden Brockman - First place Intermediate and will advance to District - Sheep Matt Engle - First place Senior and will advance to District - Shooting Sports Mattie Jenkins - Second place Senior - Horse Nelle Jenkins - First place Senior and will advance to District - Horse Haley Merrithew - First place Senior and will advance to District - Personal Development Madison Miller - First place Senior and will advance to District - Rabbit Kyle Vahlenkamp - First place Intermediate and will advance to District - Goat 4-H Skill-A-Thon Camp We will be hosting a Skill-A-Thon Camp at the fairgrounds on August 14, Over the past several years we have been able to get some big scholarships at the San Antonio Stock Show and have begun a county contest. This is a great learning experience for all 4-H ers who work with livestock projects. You will learn about feed, medicines, and equipment used in livestock production. Please RSVP by calling the office by August 7 th. An exact schedule will be in the next months newsletter. HCJLRS Rules The rules for the 2016 County Stock show can be found on our web site under publications 4-H Fashion and Sewing Camp Mark your calendar for August 5, 2015 for a fashion and sewing camp. Watch your 4-H newsletter for more details. Summer Workshops We have several Summer Workshops we wanted you to know about. More details to come at a later date. July 27 th - Officer Training at the 4-H Center Brownwood August 14 th - Skillathon Day Camp 4-H Food Camp Mark your calendars for July 23 rd, we are going to have 4-H Food Camp on that date! Cost will be $5 per person. If you would like to be a teen or volunteer leader, Mrs. Langdon would love the help! Send her an .

3 Re-Enrollment for 4-H Just a reminder that you will need to re-enroll in 4-H Connect Starting in mid August. Gun Safety Course There will be a Hunters Gun Safety Course held on Saturday, August 29 th from 8am-4pm. For more information, contact Bill Taylor at Remember that summer time is a great time to work on Family Living Division projects and Photography, taking pictures for 4-H Photography Contest! Fall Stock Show Entries If you want to show at the State Fair, Heart of Texas Fair or West Texas Fair we will do entries in early August. Entries will be due by August 14 th come by the office to complete entries. Educational programs of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service are open to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information or veteran status.

4 Livestock News for July Fall Major Validation Dates The Major Show Validation Dates for Sheep, Goats, and Hogs have been tentatively set for: October 21 - Major Lamb & Goat Validation 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm October 28 - Major Heifer Validation 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm November 9 - Major Swine Validation 2016 Major Validation Tag Orders If you want to show a lamb, goat, or pig at a 2016 Major Show you will need to order tags in late August or early September. Watch next months newsletter for full details. 4-H Skillathon/Judging Dates The 4-H Ag Project Coalition has set some dates for the fall for Skillathon Practices. In addition we are also going to try to have some Livestock and Meat Judging Practices in conjunction. The dates are: September 20 th - 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm October 18 th - 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Livestock Raisers Association The HCLRA meets on the 3 rd Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm at the fairgrounds. We need more 4-H families to get involved with this group. They make the rules for the county show, up-keep the facilities and provide us a place and opportunity to show our projects.
