All Welcome. THANK YOU to all the wonderful mums that helped with the Father s Day Stall. We raised over $1000. A big THANK YOU to all the mums who helped with Hot Dog Day. It was another profitable fundraiser making over $850. There are still some spots available for the Shopping Tour. We go to 10 outlets & have lunch at the Ivanhoe Hotel. 2 From the Principal School Production As most of you will know our annual School Production was held this week. It was a fabulous night, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Although I had seen bits and pieces during the rehearsals it was the first time I had seen it all the way through. A huge thank you must go to Mrs Angela Mayall who wrote, choreographed and coordinated the event and she outdid herself this year. It was a really enjoyable story line and the class items were integrated really well. Many thanks also to Mrs Janelle Wadsworth who worked with the lead characters polishing up their performances. Mrs Martin did a great job working with the Tribal Groove group which is always one of my favourite parts of the night. Thanks also to the rest of the staff including our support staff who gave up their time voluntarily to assist on the night. The new venue worked out really well. Having curtains and a proper stage added to the performance. The biggest accolade must go to the students particularly the lead characters who not only learnt the songs and dances but also learned their lines to deliver what was a fantastic performance on the night. Congratulations one and all!! Emergency management update: Flood risk in Victoria Significant rain is expected to fall over much of Victoria today and over the next few days. There are already reports of flooding in the South West, and there are other growing areas of concern in the rest of the state. With the school holidays approaching, people are likely to be travelling more than usual and there is an increased risk to those traveling on our roads. Schools play an important role as an information hub for your local community, and the Department has given us information and tips to help you to remain safe over the holidays I urge you to heed the following advice from emergency services: You should never drive through floodwater it only takes about 15 centimetres of water to lose control of your vehicle. Drive to the conditions around you and be aware of road hazards such as mud, debris, damaged roads and bridges. Roads in your area could be damaged by the bad weather so plan your journey and monitor VicTraffic for road condition updates and any road closures, see: Vic Traffic Never swim, walk or play in floodwater, it is dangerous and may contain hazardous debris or toxins. If your property is at risk of flooding, please raise belongings onto tables, benches or beds and if you are on a farm, consider moving your livestock to higher ground. Remain informed with emergency broadcasters to ensure you are up-to-date with the latest conditions and if possible, make sure your neighbours are aware of the situation. 3 Physical Education District Athletics Again, congratulations to all students that qualified to compete in the Division Athletics next term, Thursday 6th October. Please remember that the permission slip and payment is due back at school this Friday 16th September. Thank-you to those that have done so already. Grade 5/6 Hooptime Last Friday was the Grade 5/6 Hooptime at Kilsyth. CPPS had 7 teams competing across the All-stars, Future-stars and Rookies events. All teams competed with great endeavour and sportsmanship on the day, as was highlighted by many great wins and finals appearances. A special mention to Blake.P who fell awkwardly onto his arm during his last match of the day and caused himself a nasty broken arm and dislocated wrist, that required surgery. We wish him all the best with his recovery! Thank-you to those families that have returned washed jerseys already, If you are yet to do so, please return them to Mr Norton ASAP. Also, thanks to all our fantastic parent/sibling helpers and to the students of LHC for their assistance with coaching our teams. P-2 Swimming This week the Grade P-2 Swimming notice will be distributed. This program is to be held from 24th - 28th October. Please ensure all of the information is read and understood before returning the permission slip and payment by the due date. 3

5 On Footy Day the Prep students and their Grade 5 buddies had so much fun making new team jumpers there was the Cheetah Team, the Ice Cream Team, the Rainbow Team and many more varied and interesting names!! We always have so much fun during buddy time. Parents of Grade 5 students should be so proud of how responsible and kind their children are with their Prep buddies. 6 SCHOOL PRODUCTION With big lights shining in your eyes as you begin to float, you feel your face sweating up. A hot burning red face drips of sweat. As you start to sing beautiful words come out We re all in this together once we know who we are, we re all stars and we see that! As you spin your top wiggles, as you sing your crystal lips shine into the lights. Looking for parents is a challenge. As you hear your friends screaming on stage you realise how lucky you are to be alive having your time to shine, glowing, flying, loving life. I love Production! 7 In Grade 3/4 we have been learning to use our writing tools to make the reader feel a particular emotion. We have written Tanka, Haiku and Acrostic Poems about our animals. 7

8 Chirnside Park School Rewards is a competition run in conjunction with 21 local primary schools for their chance to win a share of $10,000 in school community grants. $5000 for 1st place, $3000 for 2nd place and $2,000 for 3rd place. The concept is simple collecting points for your local school by shopping at Chirnside Park Shopping Centre. You will instantly be given your membership card and will need to supply this card at each point donation. 3. Present your receipts and advise of your nominated school, your receipts will be entered on the spot (pending number of receipts) For bulk receipts (11+) you will need to leave these with the desk to complete and collect at a later date. 4. The customer service desk will scan your membership card and add points to your account for your chance to win the customer grand prize or weekly prizes. ONLINE 1. Make a spend in centre during the promotional period 2. You must register online 3. View the manual to learn how to load receipts.
