SCHOOL PHOTOS CHANGE OF DATE The date for our school photos has changed. We will now be having them taken on the 6th March. ING OF NEWSLETTERS Please complete the attached slip and return to school if you would like your newsletter to be sent via . READ LIKE A DEMON On 11th February we will be having some Melbourne Footballers visit our school to deliver the Read like a Demon program. HOW LUCKY ARE WE!!! The RLAD program aims to celebrate children s connections with literacy, and encourages students to read more. It provides students with confidence, and inspires them to develop their reading. Children are welcome to bring along something to be signed by the footballers. If children would like to wear footy clothing and want players to sign their jumper etc whilst they are wearing it, it can only be signed on the back of the jumper. Can each child please bring a permanent marker also. MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB FOOTY CLINIC All children in Grades 1-6 are invited to attend a football clinic ran by the Melbourne Football Club on 12th February from am at the Inverloch football ground. It is the responsibility of parents to take their children to the clinic and then deliver them back to school at Kongwak. PARKING AT SCHOOL February 6th 2015 We ask that families please use the following car parks at school- The Inverloch Road car park opposite Chapman s with the entry at the far end and exit closest to the Korumburra Road Cross Road OR At the front of the school on the school side. Please refrain from parking on the opposite side of the road in the Hall Car Park. The Korumburra Road is a very busy road with lots of trucks etc, and we would prefer that students do not have to cross this road. CONVEYANCE ALLOWANCE Conveyance Allowance is available for children who are attending their nearest government school and live 4.8km or more from the school. If you think this applies to you please collect an application form from the office as soon as possible. These forms must be returned to school by 18th February. EMERGENCY CARDS & FORMS Attached to the newsletter you will find Emergency Cards to be completed (front & back) & a Bus Permission form. Our prep children will also have Head Lice Inspections & Photo Consent forms. Please return these forms to the office asap. WELCOME ANGUS & ROWAN This week we welcomed 2 new preps to our school, twins Angus & Rowan Fairlie.

2 COMMUNITY BBQ We have a number of bowls and plates that were left over from the Community BBQ. If you could pop into the office and see if any belong to you it would be greatly appreciated. BOOK CLUB The first issue of book club is attached to the newsletter. Orders must be returned by Friday 27th February. FREE TO GOOD HOME!!! We have a 4 drawer filing cabinet that someone is welcome to have. Please see Kerri if you are interested. 5 Asthma and Thunderstorms Summer storms are becoming more frequent throughout Australia. Thunderstorms can combine heavy rain, high humidity and strong winds. A European study found there are observations in favour of the possibility that thunderstorms disturb ground-level pollen grains, bursting the pollen grains and making the allergens small enough to be inhaled into the lungs. There is also evidence that after rain and during wet conditions there are a larger amount of fungal spores in the air. These can act as a trigger for asthma symptoms. What can you do? Ensure preventer medication is taken as prescribed. Have an up to date Asthma Care Plan. If your asthma gets worse during thunderstorms try to stay indoors with the windows closed.
