1 HOMECOMING TEAM PACKET 2016 SGA wants you to participate in Homecoming 2016! Any group of 10 or more students can join as a team and vie for the 2016 Homecoming Cup. There are NO entry fees -this is just about having fun and being an awesome Phoenix! So get together any group of friends, classmates, fellows groups, or organization members and join us as we celebrate. One Phoenix, One Family!

3 SCHEDULE OF HOMECOMING WEEK 2016 EVENTS WEDNESDAY OCT 19 TH Change Wars Begins at 9am and ends at 5pm on Thursday, October 20 Moseley Center and events THURSDAY OCT. 20 TH : 6:30-8:30 p.m.: Sumo Wrestling Tournament and Picnic o Where: Alumni Gym o What: Come take home the title in the Sumo Wrestling Contest! o A picnic dinner will be served after! 7:00-8:30 p.m.: Trivia Night Where: College Tap House What: Represent your team by answering trivia questions and earning points! Homecoming Court Voting 9:00 am Thursday, October 20 to noon on Friday, October 21 Change Wars Begins at 9am and ends at noon on Friday, October 21 Moseley Center and at events FRIDAY, OCT. 21 ST : Homecoming Court Voting continues until noon on Friday, October 21 Change Wars Begins ends at noon on Friday, October 21 Moseley Center 5:00 9:00 p.m.: Rock the Block: #ElonHome Community Block Party Where: Haggard Avenue towards Young Commons What: Kick off the Homecoming festivities at this block party with the entire Elon community. Sample the menus of different food trucks, challenge your friends to a game of corn hole, dance to live music, join friends in the beer garden (21+!) or enjoy the lawn games, inflatables and other activities. 7:00 p.m.: NPHC Step Show Where: McKinnon What: Don t miss out on this amazing show featuring moves, grooves, and great dance performances

4 GAME DAY SATURDAY, OCT. 22 ND : ú 8:00 a.m.: Homecoming 5K Brick Run/Walk Where: Martin Alumni Center What: Follow the brick pathways through campus as you walk, jog, or run alongside friends during the second annual Homecoming 5K, sponsored by Campus Recreation. Stop by Campus Rec to register in advance, or sign up the morning of the race. Bring a canned food donation in lieu of a registration fee. ELON PHOENIX VS. RICHMOND SPIDERS Tailgating: All students are welcome to stop by SGA tailgating 11:30 a.m. Football Game: Presentation of Alumni Homecoming Court: 3:30 p.m. Halftime Homecoming Crowning and Homecoming Cup Winner: Between 3 rd and 4 th Quarter

5 RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. A team is any group of 10 people or more that meets all registration requirements. (Note: Participants do not have to be involved in a student organization on campus) 1. An updated scoring sheet will be posted online at Phoenix Connect and outside of the SGA Office everyday 2. In every events, late teams will be disqualified from that particular event 3. Any individual/ team/ organization found consuming alcohol or possession of illegal substance of any kind will be disqualified 4. In the event of any questions or complaints, a formal letter must be submitted to the chair of the Homecoming Committee, Alex Hunter, within 24 hours of the event in question.

7 COIN WARS GUIDELINES: ú This is a fundraising event ú Each team has a bucket advertising the team and its charity for collecting coins or dollar bills ú Buckets will be located in a central location in Moseley ú The value of any coins collected by a group count positively toward that group's point total, while the value of other coins or dollar bills are subtracted. ú Put cash in other teams buckets to deduct points o (i.e. $1 in a bucket equals 100 deduction) ú The total cents each team earns is the number of points each team receives ú Total amount collected from all the buckets will go towards winning team s charity

8 SUMO WRESTLING TOURNAMENT AND DINNER Wednesday October 19 th 6:30 p.m. in Alumni Gym Come out and root on your favorite team as they go head to head in sumo suits! The tournament will be executed in bracket format and a referee will enforce the rules throughout the event. FREE Dinner and Drinks will be provided! Eligibility: ú The competition is free and open to all University students registered on a Homecoming Team ú Spectator admission is free! ú Participants must be present at the beginning of the event in order to compete. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility ú All those participating must fill out waiver ú The tournament will be executed by bracket. Dinner will be served after the event and open to all students 1 st Place will receive 100 points 2 nd Place will receive 75 points 3 rd Place will receive 50 points 4 th Place will receive 25 points 5 th Place will receive 10 points

9 Sumo Wrestling Tournament Waiver Form WAIVER AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK I, _ hereby fully waive and release from any and all claims for personal injury, property damage, or death that may result from my participation in the following physical activities: Sumo Wrestling: I hereby voluntarily, at my own risk, sign this Waiver and Assumption of Risk in sole consideration of being permitted to use the Company s facilities, products or property. I hereby acknowledge and understand that there are dangers and risks associated with the activities described above, which have been fully explained to me. I hereby agree to abide by all rules, instructions, policies and procedures imposed by the Releasee relating to the use of the facilities or property. By signing this Waiver and Assumption of Risk, I fully assume the dangers and risks, and agree to use my best judgment while engaging in those activities. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasee, its employees, agents, officers, from and against any and all liability incurred as a result of or in any manner related to my participation in the activities. I hereby certify that I am of legal age and competent to execute this Waiver and Assumption of Risk, that in doing so of my own free will and accord, voluntarily and without duress, and that I do so intending to bind myself, my executor, my heirs, and administrators or assigns to the fullest extent. 10 TRIVIA NIGHT Thursday, October 20 th 7:30pm at the College Street Tap House Come out and play in the Homecoming Trivia Night. This will be an evening of interactive trivia. Not only will teams win points for their team, there will also be great prizes! Rules and Regulations: ú Each team for this particular event will consist a maximum of 10 people ú Leaders will be announced after the 3 rd round and an overall winner will be announced after the game is over 1 st Place will receive 100 points 2 nd Place will receive 75 points 3 rd Place will receive 50 points 4 th Place will receive 25 points 5 th Place will receive 10 points
