You can make one for Valentine s Day, St. Patrick s Day, Halloween, even the 4th of July. If you ve ever tried to make a gingerbread house or other candy-decorated structure, you know the frosting is a vital component. To keep your candy sticking, use this frosting recipe: Frosting 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup meringue powder (can substitute 3 egg whites) 4 cups sifted confectioners sugar Home Sweets Home # $40.00 US SRP Using an electric mixer, beat together the water and meringue powder until it forms stiff peaks when the beaters are lifted. Add the confectioners sugar and continue beating until smooth. For a stiffer frosting, add up to an additional ½ cup of sugar. When your structure is complete, you can spray with a clear coat of lacquer to keep it looking its best (if you don t plan on eating it, of course!). You can also spray it with hairspray; it won t last quite as long as when covered in lacquer, but the hairspray will deter pests from nibbling. Ambrose Honey, You re Bee-utiful # We ve found three easy ways to transform 2-liter plastic bottles into garden helpers. 1. An outdoor cloche. Get your plants in a little early with the help of these cloches. Just cut off the bottom of the bottle and push them into the soil over your plantings. On warm days, leave the caps off, on chilly evenings keep them on. 2. Self-watering seedling starter pots. Simply cut off the top and cut off the bottom of your bottles. Remove the cap and fill the top with soil and plant your seeds. Place the top into the bottom, which acts as a deep saucer. Keep the bottom reservoir filled with water and the soil will soak up whatever it needs. 3. An indoor cloche. For your indoor cloches, you can cut off the tops of the bottles and discard. The remaining bottle can be placed upside down over your small plants. Trim the bottoms with ribbon or lace or add acrylic gems for a sparkling effect! Disney Distributed by Enesco, LLC 7
