THERE WILL BE NO LATE ORDERS ACCEPTED AFTER TOMORROW. We would like to thank all our parent helpers who have been on hand this week to help run our book fair. We wouldn t have been able to have it without your help. Thank you very much. ART ROOM NEWS Last call for entry forms to come back for the Westernport Water Poster competition. Mrs Brown will need these by next Wednesday, 16th September. No late entries will be accepted. PROPOSED STUDENT FREE DAY Please note that the school intends to have a Student Free Day on Friday 30th October. This day needs to be confirmed at our school council meeting next Thursday night. Please mark this date on your calendars and we will confirm it in our first newsletter next term. FATHERS DAY THANK YOU A big thank you to Marie Gallagher for coordinating our Fathers Day Stall this year. We would also like to thank the 5/6 students who helped on the day as well. You all did a great job. SOUTH GIPPSLAND TRACK & FIELD FINALS Today the following students have competed in various events at the South Gippsland Track & Field finals in Leongatha: Jed Rosenow, Alannah Smith, Georgia Dakin, Maddy Palmer, Linda Hayes, Jessica Hall and Chloe Culhane.. The students that were placed in their events were: Georgia Dakin 1st High Jump & 3rd Long Jump Maddy Palmer 2nd 100m & 4th 200m Jessica Hall 3rd Discus Georgia, Chloe, Alannah & Maddy 3rd Relay Congratulations to all our students who reached this level today. It is a great achievement and well done to our placegetters. SCHOOL FETE & DUCK LOTTO Bass Valley Primary School Fete and Duck Lotto are fast approaching. For new families to our school, this event is the schools major fundraiser for the year and includes grade stalls, spinning wheel, silent auction, rides AND 500 Numbered, Rubber Ducks, which will be released into the school pool. Four lucky winning ducks will be plucked out of the water. 1 st 3 rd st Prize = $300 cash 2 nd Prize = $100 cash rd & 4 th Prizes = $50 cash Any families interested in donating cash, vouchers, products and services towards this fantastic event please contact the school ASAP. Duck Lotto tickets will be available to purchase from the start of Term 4. An event like this can only be successful with the support of our local families and friends as well as the wider community. All funds raised will be going towards upgrading the gymnasium floor and creating a new outdoor learning area for the Grade 3 and 4 students. ENTRIES NOW OPEN FOR THE POPULAR BASS COAST CYCLE CHALLENGE & FAMILY FESTIVAL It is one of the most spectacular rides in Victoria and on Saturday 14th November 2015, cyclists and their friends and families from all over the state will flock to Inverloch for a smorgasbord of events in the 2015 Bass Coast Cycle Challenge + Family Festival. With rides, runs, kids skateboarding and BMX comps, music and food stalls, there is something for the whole family: RIDES: 121km, 85km, 53km, 40km, 5km kids ride RUNS: 10km, 5km, 1.8km COMPS: BMX + Skateboarding We are excited to partner with the Lions Family Festival in 2015, and have timetabled the day so while adults or riders aged 12+ are enjoying one of the four longer rides, Inverloch will remain abuzz with activities for young and old, such as fun runs, a safe kids bike ride, competitions at the skate park, street stalls and music." Said Event Director Gavin Slavin. A charity event, proceeds fund the education of South Gippsland s young drivers, passengers and cyclists, making our roads a safer place for all. Through local support of this event, over 1000 students from South Gippsland have participated in the RYDA program, a one day course delivering practical road safety information targeting attitude and awareness of young drivers and their passengers.
