Dingledine III Performing Arts Center William Monroe High School Stanardsville, Virginia New Age Categories and New Prizes!!! **We have added two new age categories Pre-teen (10-12) and Junior (13-15). **The winners of Little Miss, Little Mister, Petite Miss, Pre-teen Miss and Junior Miss will receive a $50 CASH award. Important Information Age Divisions: BOYS: Little Mister (6-7) GIRLS: Little Miss (6-7), Petite Miss (8-9), Pre-teen Miss (10-12), Junior Miss (13-15) and Miss (16-23). ALL contestants MUST be a resident of Greene County! Miss Greene contestants must reach the age of 16 by April 1, Contestants may be asked to supply proof of residency and/or age. All contestants will need to send in a photo for use in the program book. Please submit a WALLET size photo (with the contestant s name on back) with the application. Photos will not be returned. Miss Greene will receive a $500 educational scholarship (payable to school), crown, sash and trophy. Little Miss, Little Mister, Petite, Pre-teen and Junior Miss Greene will receive a $50 cash award, crown, sash, and trophy. The Miss Greene winner MUST attend the Charlottesville Dogwood Festival during the week of April 18-23, For more information on the festival: (Miss Only) ***Rehearsal will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017*** Little Miss, Petite Miss and Little Mister rehearsal time 6:00 p.m. Pre-teen, Junior and Miss rehearsal time 7:30 p.m. There will be an informational meeting for the Miss contestants. Date to be determined Rehearsals are mandatory!! DOOR ADMISSION: $5 per person. Children 5 and under are free. One chaperone per contestant will be allowed entry free of charge. Program books will cost $5.00. Doors will open at 5:30 pm.

2 Areas of Competition Little Miss, Little Mister, Petite Miss, Pre-teen Miss and Junior Miss contestants will compete in evening wear only. Miss contestants will compete in interview, casual wear and evening wear. Judging will be based on appropriateness and fit of attire, confidence, poise, personality, smile and conversational ability where applicable. Evening wear (All) Little/Petite Miss both short and long gowns (Sunday best and pageant) are permitted. This is a natural pageant so please keep any makeup used to a minimum. Lip gloss (not lipstick), blush and mascara are allowed. Little Mister Dress slacks, button up shirts, vests, suits and tuxedos are allowed. No jeans allowed. Pre-teen, Junior & Miss MUST WEAR A LONG GOWN. Gowns should be age appropriate, and should reflect your personality and style. Pre-teen and Junior division no slits, bare midriffs or cutouts. If you have a question about your gown PLEASE ASK the director prior to the pageant. If the gown is found to be too revealing the contestant will not PARTICIPATE and will be disqualified. On Stage question will be asked during the evening gown competition (Miss Only) Casual Wear (Miss only) Casual Wear should be something that you would wear to a church picnic. (NO JEANS, SHORT SHORTS, SWEATS, BARE MIDRIFFS OR PROPS). Choose an outfit that is age appropriate, and reflects your personality, and style. Interview (Miss only) Each contestant will have a 5-minute interview with a panel of 3 judges. Attire may be a dress, a business suit, or pantsuit. Please do not show up to the interview in a semi formal outfit. This outfit should be something you would wear to church, or a job interview. Interview will be based on a one-page fact sheet submitted by each contestant. A fact sheet is similar to a resume. Please submit 4 clean, neat copies with your entry form. ***Entry Fee Information*** The registration fee for all divisions is $ This can be paid by the contestant or a sponsor. The fee will be waived with the submission of one full size (8 ½ 11 ) ad page. This can be fulfilled by one full size ad or any combination of ad sizes that make up a full page. Checks should be made payable to the Greene County Lions Club. This entry fee includes admission for one (1) chaperone and one (1) wallet size photo in the program book. NO REFUND OF FEES FOR ANY REASON. Other Awards The People s Choice award was a great success last year, so we are doing it again! People s choice will be selected by $1 votes by audience members for their favorite contestant. The votes will be collected throughout the pageant. Winner will receive a trophy.

4 Pageant Rules and Guidelines A contestant must be a female and been born female. A contestant must be single and have never been married. A contestant must be a resident of Greene County and a U.S. citizen. Miss contestants must be between the ages of years of age. She must be 16 by April 1, 2017 and not turn 24 years of age until after May 1. A contestant must be currently working toward a high school degree, a high school graduate or have successfully completed the G.E.D. testing program for high school equivalency. A contestant must have never performed any act or engaged in any activity or employment that is or could reasonably be characterized as dishonest, immoral, or indecent. A contestant must be of good moral character and never have been pregnant and is not now pregnant nor the adoptive parent of any child and has not been involved at any time in any act of moral turpitude. A contestant, other than minor or petty offenses, must never have been convicted of any criminal offense and there are no criminal charges presently pending against her. A contestant must be in good health and can participate fully and without limitation in any program activities. A contestant must not use or consume any illegal controlled dangerous substances or abuse the use of alcohol or other dangerous substances. Miss Greene is required to participate in the Dogwood Festival events in April (Miss Only). If you cannot attend these events DO NOT REGISTER FOR THIS PAGEANT. o Various parades throughout the year o Various events that are coordinated by the Miss Greene Board and or its Director. Miss Greene is responsible for her own clothing and costs incurred related to participating in the Dogwood Festival, or as you serve your year as Miss Greene. All titleholders are required to supply their own transportation and signs for parades. Contestants shall be aware that, until the conclusion of the pageant, she/he is representing the Miss Greene Pageant and should always be aware that she may be a role model for others. Accordingly, contestant shall agree to be responsible with any postings, photos and information posted on any social media networks, such as Facebook, My Space, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc. Entrant shall agree to not make statements or post statements containing inappropriate or profane language, and to not post pictures or videos of herself dressed inappropriately, drinking alcoholic beverages or making inappropriate gestures. The titleholder of the Miss Greene Pageant is expected to hold herself, at all times, in the position of leadership, and use self-control in all situations. Remember you are representing the Miss Greene Pageant, but you are also representing yourself, and your family. If you are found to have committed an act not becoming of your title, as determined by the Miss Greene Pageant Board and/or its Director, you will be asked to relinquish your crown and sash to the Miss Greene Board and or its Director, and the runner up will take over the reign. The Pageant Director reserves the right to refuse entry into the Miss Greene Pageant to any contestant, or any, and all of their guests. Unsportsmanlike behaviors will not be tolerated! If this behavior is observed the contestant, chaperone, guest, parent, or guardian will be asked to leave, and the Pageant Director reserves the right to disqualify that contestant. They will be removed from the venue, and will forfeit the right to any type of refund. Each contestant will be allowed to have (1) chaperone with them to help with pageant preparation. The chaperone is not allowed to interfere with any aspects of the running of the pageant. If the chaperone is deemed to have caused any interference the board and or its director have the right to remove the chaperone from the venue. The Miss Greene Pageant reserves the right to use any and all photographs, taken or submitted for use in any, and all promotional needs that may take place. I acknowledge that I have read and understand the above rules and regulations and do agree and certify to follow all rules and regulations as set forth therein, both as a contestant and as the titleholder should I become Miss Greene. 5 Serving the community for over 50 years! The Greene County Lions Club is a local chapter of Lions Club International. We are a service organization that is dedicated to serving our community in the area of sight and hearing. We are best known for fighting blindness, but we also perform volunteer work for many kinds of community projects including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled. Locally each year we provide free eye screenings for all pre-school, Kindergarten, 3 rd grade and 7 th grade students in Greene County Schools. We also provide eye screenings to the public throughout the year at local events such as the Strawberry Festival and the Greene County Fair. Other activities and events we sponsor in Greene include: Eyeglass purchases Hearing Aid purchases Blood Drive (Every 2 months) Holiday Food Baskets at Christmas 2 Scholarships for deserving Seniors in High School Educational scholarship to the winner of Miss Greene School supply donations Highway cleanup twice a year Miss Greene Pageant Annual Golf Tournament (first Monday in June) All profits from the Miss Greene Pageant and the related program book ad sales are used to help fund these activities. 6 Program Book Award To help support the Miss Greene Pageant we need a successful program book, and this is where each contestant has the option of participating. We are giving every contestant the opportunity to sell ads in this book. Ads and sponsorships may come from businesses and/or family members. All ads and sponsorships need to be camera ready. They may be created by you, your sponsor or by a professional. Please make sure all information is correct. A signed release will be needed for all professional photos. The program book is 8 ½ x 11 in size and will include contestant photos. The ad pages will be in black and white print. They will be available for sale at the door for $5 each. ***The contestant selling the most pages will receive a separate trophy and FULL page with your picture in the Program Book. ALL ads have to be turned in on or by Friday, February 17, 2017! (NO EXCEPTIONS) ** If you are collecting several ads, please try to submit them as you receive them. ** This will enable us to have more time for formatting.
