In fact, one of my classic indicators for when to get a new pair of running shoes is when aches and pains start up in shins, knees, and hips. When shoes are worn down, it strains the muscles in your lower back all the way down to your feet. Special Olympics Banquet Tuesday, November 15,

3 18 th Annual LEEP Fall Elegance Dinner and Dance Saturday, September 10, 2016 The Fall Elegance Dinner and Dance is a formal event held annually to honor the contributions people with disabilities make to our greater Mankato Community. It is a popular event with over 725 individuals in attendance last year. The evening consists of a social hour, dinner, entertainment and dance along with extras such as our photo booth and raffle prizes. All LEEP members should receive their invitations during the first week of July. The event is open to anyone interested. However, you must register in advance. Reservations will only be accepted by returning the payment and RSVP included with the invitation. (Payments for staff must also be included) Please return your RSVP to save your spot as soon as possible because space is limited. Phone registration is not permitted. Helpful hints: RSVP s are due by Friday, August 19 and no late RSVP s will be accepted. Tables of 7 will not be accommodated and may result in groups being split. Tables of 1-6 or a full table of 8 are preferred. This event is a semi- formal event and staff and attendees are asked to dress accordingly. One professional photo per person will be allowed for the event. Your help with these details will ensure the night will be an evening to remember. Mark your calendars now; you don t want to miss the event of the year!!! Greg Weis is the General Manager of the Mankato MoonDogs Summer Baseball Club and has volunteered with LEEP as a Special Olympics Unified Partner and as the Committee Chair and visionary for LEEP s largest fundraising event, LEEP Legends: The Dugout Duel. Greg s favorite memory of volunteering as a Unified Partner was in 2015 when the Unified Basketball team he was playing on took 1 st place at the state tournament, It was a pretty cool way to end the season with a pretty special team. When asked what his favorite part of volunteering with he said, My favorite part about volunteering with LEEP is definitely getting to see the enthusiasm that each participant has for their sport/activity. Being able be a part of that as a Unified Partner is ablast and having the opportunity to help raise awareness and money for that through LEEP legends is really rewarding. Thanks so much to all the time and energy Greg has dedicated to making this community a better place for individuals with disabilities.
