We are fortunate to have first-class facilities, thanks to the support of our patrons. A special thanks to our business sponsors for their contributions to make our new video scoreboard and message center at the football field and in the Ron Hendricks Gymnasium a reality. Over the summer we also replaced the turf field at Bob Shore Stadium. Our students are dedicated to the activities in which they participate and strive to represent our district in a positive manner. Our students are supported by skilled coaches, directors, and sponsors. These dedicated staff members not only teach the necessary skills of the activities they promote, they also instill life-long values. These efforts assist us on our path to meet our vision of Everyone Learning Every Day. Please continue to support our students and sponsors by displaying positive Laker Pride. Your example assists our students to continue the proud traditions of Laker Nation. Our entire school community encourages you to enjoy our activities. 4 Welcome to Camdenton High School Home of the Lakers Brett Thompson, Principal Welcome to Camdenton High School, Home of the Lakers! It is an exciting time to be a Laker, and we are looking forward to a successful fall season of CHS activities. With the hard work and commitment of our students, coaches, and sponsors, we are sure to continue that winning Laker tradition. As we look forward to a new season of activities, we want to thank our community for the continuous support provided to our students and our school. By working together, we are sure to maintain a positive learning community for our students and help them achieve great successes both in the classroom and on the field. The mission of Camdenton High School is to provide students with a relevant and rigorous educational experience, helping them acquire the knowledge and skills to successfully become college and career ready in a global society. Extra-curricular programs are an extension of the classroom, and they play a significant role in achieving our mission. Participation in these activities allows students to realize the importance of individual responsibility, competition, and teamwork, all of which will contribute to their future accomplishments. Through their commitment to team success, students learn valuable lessons regarding character and sportsmanship that not only help them succeed on the field of play, but also provide them experiences that allow them to become productive citizens and adults. I encourage you to continue to support our students and recognize their efforts by displaying that positive Laker Pride for your school, your teams, and your community. We look forward to seeing you at our events this fall. Go Lakers!!! Jeff Whitney, Director of Athletics and Activities The crisp air of autumn is just around the corner and in Camdenton that means one thing - another great school year of Laker activities! Extra-curricular activities play a special part in our school s educational program. These activities provide unique opportunities for student growth and serve as an extension of the classroom. Our school and community are dedicated to our students pursuit of excellence and the values taught by interscholastic competition. The principles of sportsmanship, self-discipline, and perseverance are often learned through these activities. Furthermore, teams provide opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to learn the value of teamwork, cooperation and mutual respect. We know that qualities such as these will help develop the productive citizens and sound leadership of tomorrow. As spectators, we too are an important part of this classroom and the lessons taught. We are proud of the sportsmanship exhibited by our parents, patrons and fans. The constructive actions we reveal and the positive encouragement we give at athletic events and other activities help create a great atmosphere and one in which our students can be proud. Officials, coaches, and student athletes will often fall short of perfection, this is to be expected. With this in mind it is essential that we continue to serve as a positive example for our student body. Enjoy the contests scheduled this season - our students and coaches have worked extremely hard to give their very best performance. Go Lakers!!!

10 Laker Football Welcome, Laker fans, to the 2017 football season! The Lakers have been spending the better part of the summer gearing up for the home opener. The summer workouts included 12 days of camp, three days a week in the weight room and two 7-on-7 tournaments. The Lakers traveled to JFK stadium in late June and competed in the Ozark Conference (OC) 7-on-7 tournament. The Lakers walked away with an undefeated record and OC 7-on-7 champs. The 12 days of camp provided each player the opportunity to learn and compete for a starting spot this fall on Friday nights. The coaching staff has been very pleased with the effort and the attitude of this year s team. This year s Lakers welcome a new coach to our staff. Former Laker Brett Eidson will be taking care of our punters, kickers, snappers, and holders. Coach Eidson was part of the 1999 State Championship Football team, punted in college, and was a kicking instructor with Kohls kicking camp. Another addition that everyone will notice August 18th is the new turf and new scoreboard. The Lakers are extremely grateful to the donors for their contributions toward the new scoreboard. We would also like to thank the school board and patrons for approving our new turf. Once again, thank you!! We are looking forward to putting on the helmets and getting after it.hog STYLE! will be counted on to lead the JV offense into the endzone each Monday night and get a handful of plays in on Friday night. This year s running back corps is a very familiar group. Jay Griffin, who rushed for over 1,200 yards last season, will return. He will share the load with Todd Simpson, who will play tailback and fullback this year. Seth Harris and Andrew Butts will get their share of carries also. Bo Shore, Garrett Stamper, and Ryan Maasen will plow the way at the fullback position. Jeremy Bernabe, Kyler Wilson, Tyler Damery, Elias Ramirez, and Josef Bernabe will see plenty of action on Monday nights during JV games. This year s group of Laker Football players will feature many returning starters from last year. Let s get started introducing this year s group of players to you. And, as usual, we start with the HOGS! The HOGS are the backbone and lifeline of our offense. They set the tone with their physical and dominating attitude. This year s offensive line returns two starters from last year - Harrison Brownell and Josh Semau. Brownell will take care of the snaps; Semau will play tackle. Chazz Sawyers will play the other tackle. Our guards are Connor Whitney and Jon Lumley. While these players have been receiving most of the reps, others are working hard to see some action on Friday nights. Camden Pitts, Holden Looney, Zach Trusty, Josh Harmon, Mason Kinney, Riley Stidham, Austin Rippe, Marlin Briggs, Jacob Lansford, Jeremiah Wilkens, Dex Heier, Marcus Stephens, Ethan McDaniel, and Louis Powers are improving each day. These HOGS Our receiving corps is experienced and ready to haul in the TD passes this season. At split end, Jake Hill and Matt Lawson will see most of the action. Jackson Ezard, Gabe Kurtz, and Jase Nicklas will compete for the slot back position. They will be called on to not only receive passes but also block up front. Our tight ends (½ HOG - ½ Candy) include Grant Norton, Luke Rasmussen, and Mason Bowles. Our JV receiving group includes Kyle Boatman, Tyler Hunter, Brady Kopiske, Jackson Rideout, Trenton Flug, Jaben Shockley, Ethan Harris, and Connor Thomas. This year s field general will be Isaiah Lumley. Isaiah has some solid varsity experience at quarterback from last year. Our younger QBs include Cash Calton, Colin Thomas, and Paxton DeLaurent.

11 The Lakers kicking responsibilities will be handled by a variety of players. Coleman Baker and Luke Galbreath have strong and accurate legs. Coleman and Luke will be competing for the field goal and kickoff duties. Seth Harris and Rasmussen will be battling it out for the punting job. The last line of defense, our defensive backs, will have some new faces this year. At safety, we have Kurtz, Hill, Griffin, Stamper, and Shockley competing for starting positions. Cory Eskridge, Hunter, and Flug will get plenty of experience on Mondays. At the corner position, Butts, Seth Harris, Lawson, Calton, and Nicklas will be competing for snaps on Friday nights. Malone, Rideout, Ethan Harris, and Talon Randazzo will be defending the pass for the JV Lakers. Next up, The Purple Haze. The Laker defense brings back a host of starters from last year s squad. We will start up front with the HOGS, of course. Brownell, Semau, Norton, Whitney, and Sawyers will anchor the interior defensive line and create havoc in the opponent s backfield. Jacob Morgan, Lathan Wise, Wilkens, Kinney, Stephens, Trusty, Briggs, Lansford, McDaniel, Pitts, Jake Scarey, and Powers will all be competing for a few plays on Friday night and will take most of the snaps on Monday night. Lined up just behind our HOGS will be the linebackers. We have both returning starters from last year, Simpson and Rasmussen. Maasen, Stidham, and Looney are just a step behind our anticipated starters. Josef Bernabe, Jeremy Bernabe, Rippe, and Boatman will be plugging up the run lanes for our JV team on Mondays. Our defensive ends are both returning from last year also. Shore and Ezard will have the job of keeping everything inside. Bowles, Wilson, Connor Thomas, Heier, and Colten Glawson will be competing for some snaps on Friday. This year s schedule is in the Lakers favor with five home games and four away games. The Ozark Conference is one of the toughest conferences in southwest Missouri. Each year, a couple of teams from the OC make a strong run deep into the playoffs. The Lakers fully anticipate being one of those teams this year - one play at a time, one game at a time, as a team. We open our season at home against the Hillcrest Hornets. Week two will see the West Plains Zizzers traveling to Bob Shore Stadium. The Lakers then travel to Lebanon in week three to take on the Yellowjackets. In week four, the Lakers welcome Kickapoo to the JOD. The Lakers will then travel to Springfield Parkview for a week five showdown. Next, the Rolla Bulldogs will come to Lakertown in week six. Weeks seven and eight will have the Lakers on the road. In week seven, the Lakers will travel east on I-44 to play arch rival Waynesville Tigers. In week eight, the Lakers travel west on 44, down to Joplin. This will be the last regular season meeting between these two teams as Joplin will be moving conferences in Finally, the Lakers will host the high-powered offense of the Glendale Falcons. Week ten will begin District play. Our seeding will determine who and where we play. We are extremely grateful and blessed to be part of the Laker family. Every former player, coach, alumni, and fan is an integral part to our success. Parents - thank you for allowing your son to be part of the Laker tradition. The time and effort you put in getting your son to practice and feeding the team is gratefully appreciated. We look forward to seeing the stands filled with our faithful following each Friday night. GO LAKERS and..go HOGS!!!!

15 VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Madisyn Armontrout Alyssa Faulconer Alex Grzegorczyk Sadie Harris Sarah Lawson Brianna Miller Lizzie Miller Abby Rabenold Emily Renken Kylie Scott Mackenzie Scott Macy Short Danielle Stanfield Alli Wood Allison Varner Seniors My name is Errin Gainey, varsity cheer coach. Returning JV Coach Lilli Shields and I are ready for another exciting year of Laker cheer!! Coming into my seventh year of coaching, I am so thrilled for this new group of girls. Last year was a huge year for us, so expectations are high as we go into this school year. In February, we attended the Midwest Cheer and Dance Association (MCDA) competition in Joplin. The girls brought home the triple crown, earning best pyramid, division Errin Gainey and Lilli Shields champion and high point champion. The high point championship was earned as they competed against more than 35 teams. I am so proud of them for their outstanding performance. This season, tryouts were held in April and we started the season off by attending the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) summer camp in July. During the three-day camp, the girls learned cheers, chants, and stunts from the outstanding staff. The girls are excited to show off their new skills to the crowds at this school year s sports events. The girls really strived for advanced stunts and several earned the title of All American. We even earned a bid to Nationals as well as several other NCA sponsored events. This year we are hosting our annual Kiddie Camp in September and plan on doing other charity events, including the Kids Harbor dinner. We are also preparing for the State Fair Spirit Classic in Sedalia, MO. All of these events require several extra hours of work and I want to thank the parents and boosters for their continued support. Without them, we would not be able to do all of these extra events. Again, I am so looking forward to a new year with Camdenton Cheer. These girls have become my family and I don t know what I would do without them. They have been a huge support to me and I will be forever grateful. I can t say enough thank-yous to the parents, booster club, and school district for their support. We truly couldn t do it without you. Cheers! Go Lakers!! 20 Lady Laker Volleyball The Camdenton Lady Laker Volleyball team went last season. At the end of this successful campaign, they fell to Willard in a Class 4 District 10 Semifinal game. The Lady Lakers lose six seniors from that team: Daphne Dinsdale, Mariah Hadfield, Blair Kurtz, Bailey McElyea, Tegan Shockley, and Jordan Wolfe. Dinsdale continues her career at College of the Ozarks after earning first-team All-Ozark Conference honors. Last season, she was second on the team in assists (263), kills (209), and blocks. Wolfe was another first-team All-Conference selection and is now playing at Columbia College after leading the Lady Lakers with 272 kills and 81 blocks. Also gone from last year s team is second-team All-Conference member Blair Kurtz, who had a team-leading 422 receptions to go along with a second-best 254 digs. Tegan Shockley was another significant piece that led Camdenton with 257 digs and 37 aces, and added 334 receptions. Despite those departures, Head Coach Austin Walker is not looking for any letdowns this season. I have always told everybody, you can t teach somebody to be athletic, but you can teach them volleyball, Walker said. They know what it takes to be competitive and what it s going to take to get to that level where we need to be. Expectations this year are still really high, she said. They re the same goals we ve always had. The girls want to be at the top of the conference, they want to compete, and that s what I ve seen this summer. Abbie Miller (senior) returns to the setter position after recording 272 assists as a junior. Grace Wormek was a defensive specialist last season, but has transitioned to libero for her senior year. Natalie Basham (junior) will patrol the outside, while Kylie Meier (senior) rounds out the returners for Camdenton as a right-side hitter. New to the mix will be Madison Vanderploeg (senior outside hitter), Sara McDuffey (senior middle/outside hitter), Megan Vest (sophomore outside/middle hitter), Lizzie Miller (junior setter/opp), and Shelby Kurtz (sophomore defensive specialist). The Lady Lakers don t want to see any drop-off after graduating six seniors from a team that won 17 games while making a run at the District title. Last year we lost a big group of seniors - a successful group. This year s group has said they don t want to live in the shadow of those athletes, Walker said. They want to do it themselves. They set the ball really high for themselves. Back at the helm of the junior varsity team is Lindsey Wyatt. Coach Wyatt inherits a very athletic sophomore squad, thrown in the mix with some very solid juniors who saw significant action last season. Coach Stacy Asante will again be at the reins of the freshman squad. This year s freshman group features a group of players who had a very successful middle school career. Coach Asante is expecting big gains from this group. We encourage all of Laker Nation to come watch us in action this fall. It is going to be a fun and exciting season! 21 Lady Laker Volleyball Seniors 12~ Kylie MEIER I could not have been more blessed to be with any other group of girls. No matter how many extra laps I made them run from sprinting in the door two minutes after practice started, they still stuck by my side. I owe a lot of the energy I bring to the court to the in-between runs to Grace s house for microwaveable mac&cheese. To show just how close of a group we are, on the days we drew slips of paper for our secret sisters, we were all sworn to secrecy, but as soon as the names were drawn we couldn t wait to tell each other who we were giving gifts to this year. I will cherish the memories I made with this group for the rest of my life. I wouldn t have wanted to go through all the morning practices and late nights in the gym with any other group. Above all, volleyball has taught me that keeping a positive attitude is key. As long as these girls have the right mind set they can achieve just about anything! 23~ Madison VANDERPLOEG These past four years playing volleyball have impacted my life so much. I remember walking in the gym for the first time as a freshman and being so nervous. As time went on, I got more comfortable because the coaches and all the other girls were so welcoming. This sport has really pushed me out of my comfort zone in the most amazing way. I learned what it means to be disciplined and how important teamwork really is. I was fortunate enough to have a team that I was able to count on for anything, no matter what it was. I wouldn t change a single thing throughout my volleyball career and I will never forget all of the people who made it so special. It was a good four years, CHS. 3~ Grace WORMEK If I were to give any advice to someone entering high school it would be to join a sport or club. Throughout my four years on the volleyball team I have made so many amazing memories and friends/teammates who I can proudly describe as the sisters I never had. On the note of four years of volleyball, don t ever underestimate how fast time flies. It feels like yesterday I was a little freshman watching the senior girls on varsity and hoping I could be like them someday. But now, I m the senior on varsity and have freshmen looking up to me. From freshman year to senior year only five girls have remained on the team. Words cannot explain how proud I am of each one, for the young women they are today and the plans they have for their lives and, of course, I m beyond thankful to play beside them all these years and share countless memories, early morning tournaments, bus rides, locker room shenanigans, and dance parties after an amazing win. As cheesy as it sounds, I m going to miss volleyball and my teammates. I never thought senior year would come so fast and all I can say is cherish every game, practice and moment with your team, give 110% for them, because they give 110% for you, after every practice/game be satisfied with the effort you gave, and have fun. Peace out CHS! 10~ Sara MCDUFFEY Playing volleyball has been the highlight of my experience as a Laker. The five seniors we have this year, also known as the fab five, have played together since the very first time we were handed our uniforms. We were by each others sides for our first game, and we will stand by each other for our last. We ve come a long way since we were middle schoolers - not just by our ability to play volleyball, but by our upgrade from spandex that don t reach our knees and our improvement in team selfies. Playing a sport reveals a lot of true character in a person, and I must say that I have grown with an amazing group of women. I ll always remember the feeling of killing a ball and turning around to see Grace s face screaming, or watching Kylie jump 15 feet in the air after getting an ace. I am truly honored to have been a part of such a great team and a great program. Thank you to everyone who made it possible. 24~ Abbie MILLER Looking back on these past six years of Laker Volleyball, I simply can t help but smile. I smile thinking about all of the long bus rides, the pre-game jam sessions, the excitement of a kill, and the overwhelming amount of joy this sport has brought to me. I ve been blessed to share the court with some outstanding people throughout the years, but nothing beats being able to play alongside my sister. I m grateful I get to share these memories with her, and a huge shout-out goes to my awesome parents for their endless support! The friendships and the memories are just too much, and for that, I will always look back on my time as a Laker Volleyball player with nothing but a smile on my face.

24 Soccer 2017 One Team The Laker Soccer program would like to say thank you to all those who support it both during the season and in the off-season. We would not be where we are today without the support, dedication, and hard work of our administrators, numerous parents, community supporters, booster club, volunteers, and students. The Camdenton Laker Soccer program, entering its 19th season, continues to establish itself as a team that works together. This is possible in large part because of the time and effort put in by so many people who you will not see roaming the sidelines or playing on the field during a match. As in the past, our main focus this year is One Team. We see this as one of our core values. These two words encompass everything that is important to growing as a program. This belief guides us in the way we conduct ourselves on a day-to-day basis --- in our classrooms, our training, and our games. In regard to relationships and achievements, we aim for One Team to be our focus. Our team works each day not only on soccer and the pursuit of a District title, but also on making quality decisions and life choices that will make us successful, accountable young men. This year s seniors, Nolan Moriearty, Liam Dallam, Spencer Brunnert, Nate Martin, Aaron Rassel, Ezequiel Zeke Avendano, and Bryce Banuelos are busy establishing their roles on the team. Each of them has come in motivated to work and help their teammates. It has been refreshing to listen to these young men guide their younger teammates in our training. These guys are demonstrating daily what it means to be a Laker. Mike Gow returns for his second year as head coach of the Laker Soccer team. Coach Dent continues in his role as the JV coach along with his varsity responsibilities. Coach Byington works with keepers and the varsity during our preseason training. The team put in quite a bit of time over the summer preparing for this season. We had a good turnout in our summer workouts. The team did a bit of travel as we played several teams in the area through the summer. We went to a team camp and helped run our Little Laker Camp this summer. I have really enjoyed my time with this team over the summer, enthuses Coach Gow. Now it is time to put it all together and improve upon our results from last season. 26 12- Liam DALLAM Quote Unavailable Soccer Seniors 26- Ezequiel AVENDANO My first year in the program was last year. When I first started I was really nervous but every practice we had I started getting used to the team. One of my favorite moments was when we all went to see a Missouri State University soccer game. After high school, I plan to join the Army. 22- Bryce BANUELOS My goals are to try my best and lift others up with me. I expect to pack my bags and leave this place in December. That is all. 24- Nate MARTIN The past four years have been amazing. My team is what has gotten me through my high school years. From my first first day of school when I did not have a seat at lunch, to my last first day of school, everyone on the team has had each others backs. I m excited to invest in the younger guys and I thank God for this amazing journey. 11/1- Nolan MORIEARTY The Camdenton Soccer program has taught me many things. It has taught me to keep pushing when things get tough, to rely on those around you when needed, and most of all it has taught me how important family is. Since freshman year, this program has been my family; I can t thank my coaches and teammates enough for all of the great memories. 13- Spencer BRUNNERT When I was younger I played multiple sports at a time. However, soccer has always been my favorite sport. As I got older, soccer became the only sport I played. Although I played soccer since I was four years old, I never became very good until my freshman year. During my freshman year, I began playing club soccer and high school soccer both. After competing at the highest level I possibly could, I have developed into a much better teammate and player. This has inspired me to want to play soccer at the collegiate level while, at the same time, pursuing an academic degree in another passion, computers, with a focus on cyber security. 23-Aaron RASSEL These past four years have been amazing! The people on the soccer team have felt like my second family. We ve been through a lot of stuff together - like practices, games, and having fun - that I would not have wanted to experience with anybody else. My favorite moment was when we had to wait in the locker room for a rain delay. To pass the time, we had a dance battle in the locker room. I d like to thank the coaches for putting up with us. These four years have been some of the best years of my life.

27 2017 Ladies Golf Team The Lady Laker Golf team is coming off a successful match season that provided much experience for returning and new golfers. We finished our match season with a 5-2 winning record. We gained tournament 18-hole experience in our tournaments and placed 5th in the Ozark Conference. As juniors, Amber Wilson and Jennah Schell both had very successful seasons. Amber earned All-Conference honors and captured the Ozark Conference Individual Championship as well. She then moved on to win All-District honors as well as the District Championship. This was followed by Sectional play and a State Tournament appearance at the Columbia Country Club, where she tied for 14th place and achieved All-State honors for the second year in a row. Jennah earned All-Conference and All-District honors, and progressed up to Sectionals, then State Tournament play where she performed very well. These two senior varsity golfers - Amber and Jennah - will provide experience and leadership for our team this season. Coley Rezabek will join our team as a senior and will provide golfing experience and leadership. Returning varsity golfers Emily Hunter and Allie Crowell will also provide good playing experience for our team. Newcomers Ainsley Lowther and Gracie Poe (sophomores), along with AnnaGrace Glor (freshman), will be gaining experience as they play in our matches. We will host the Lady Laker Invitational Tournament at Lake Valley Country Club again this year and look to have a competitive field of teams from throughout the state. We continue to play a very competitive tournament schedule and have a busy match season. We will practice and play at our home course, Lake Valley Country Club, while playing some of our matches at other area golf courses. 29 2017 Seniors ~Megan BARTELS From freshman year to senior year not only have we all become better at tennis, we have also gotten a better sense of fashion. Peace out tennis skirts/dresses, hello tennis shorts! Big thanks to my teammates and coaches for making me want to keep playing tennis all four years! ~Faith BOWEN Watching everybody, including myself, come from freshman year (ask us about the uniforms - we all LOVED them) to my senior year is crazy. I love everything about it - from the practices, to the matches, and undoubtedly the friendships I ve made because of it. I am so appreciative of my parents for driving me to early morning practices, Coach Richey for having patience with us over the years, also a shout-out to Coach Houx for volunteering his time to help make us better. Most importantly, somebody is going to have to step up and be the new roast queen when I leave. DUECES. ~Jessi SIMS This is my third year as a Lady Laker Tennis player and I cannot wait to see what this season has in store for my team and I! I would like to thank Coach Richey and Coach Houx for teaching me this amazing sport and for keeping up with my energetic personality. I also love meeting the new players and creating a special bond with the girls that can never be broken. I will never forget the bus rides to away games and stocking up on so much food that there s no more room in our bags for tennis gear! Let s make this season a great one, ladies! God bless! ~Hallie THOMPSON Tennis is a life-time sport, like coach always tells us. It can get frustrating at times, but once you get a good hit, all that practice and running truly pays off. No Doubt, It s An Exciting Season! The Lady Laker Tennis coaching staff, team, and managers are truly excited about the upcoming 2017 fall season! We are proud to have the largest number of players on the team in the history of our tennis program (42 total). The 2017 varsity Lady Laker Tennis squad will return five varsity players with extensive match experience. Senior varsity returning letter winners Tori Risner, Faith Bowen, and Megan Bartels will be pushed to improve their individual singles and doubles performances by junior returning letter winners such as Macie Abell and Hannah Robinson. A new senior addition to the varsity squad this year is Coley Rezabek. Coley is a tremendous athlete and will be our number one singles player this season! Coley brings great leadership skills to the team along with a competitive spirt that challenges her teammates to give 100% at all times when they are on the tennis courts. Also looking for varsity match action during the 2017 season are seniors Hallie Thompson and Jessi Simms, along with juniors Darby Roam, Jessica Watson, and Katie Blackman. We have a large group of incoming freshmen Lady Laker Tennis players this season, totaling 14 new members all together! The junior varsity will indeed have a steep learning curve, but outstanding athletes such as sophomores Ainsley Cusick, Addi Jenkins, and Jaiden Payton will anchor a young and somewhat inexperienced yet extremely energetic junior varsity team including freshmen Katelyn McGuire, Eliana Borbe, and Maggie McElyea. This will no doubt be an exciting season on the hard courts for the 2017 Lady Laker Tennis team. We hope that you make it a point to come out to the Laker Tennis complex and support your Lady Lakers!

30 2017 Lady Laker Softball It is often said that history repeats itself; the Laker Softball team hopes that is true for them this season as they won the Ozark Conference and District Title this past year. This task will have to be accomplished without the help of four young ladies: Kristyn Carpenter, Kylee Compton, Erin Rasmussen, and Kelly Uthe, who started every game since their freshman year and were each All-Conference and All-District players during their careers at Camdenton High School. The good news, however, is that the coaching staff returns intact, with Tyler Dinsdale beginning his fourth year as assistant coach, and Liz Grover beginning her second year as the pitching coach. Coach Dinsdale focuses on outfield play and is the team s hitting coach, while Coach Grover is in charge of pitchers and catchers and calls pitches during the game. Head Coach Rick Calbert oversees the whole operation while also coaching infield defense. The best news for the Lady Lakers Softball team lies in the fact that the team returns five starters from last year s team plus eight varsity letter winners. Shelby Webster, Haile Farris, and Fayth Rakes return for their junior year after all garnered All-Conference and All-District honors and Jillian Selander, another All-Conference and All-District player, returns for her senior year. The fifth returning starter from last year s team is junior left fielder Emma Uthe. Webster set a Camdenton High School record for home runs and RBIs last year while playing shortstop and third base; Coach Dinsdale feels that she will hit even better this upcoming season. Farris had a great sophomore season as one of the most dominating pitchers in the Conference and enjoyed a very fine season at the plate. Rakes was voted the top catcher in the Conference last year as she was a unanimous choice for the All-Conference catcher selection. Selander will be looked to for senior leadership and to patrol centerfield as she has for the previous three years. The team and coaching staff have high expectations for returning left-fielder Uthe, who did a great job late in the year at the plate and played stellar defense throughout the season. The team looks to returning letter winners Sidney Jones, Hayley Wheat, and Raegan Waters as well as senior Lyndsay Boots and incoming freshmen Emma Rakes, Katy Pitts, and Kylee Moore to fill the positions that were left vacant by the graduation of the five seniors that made history for the Lady Laker Softball team. There is no doubt that it will be a season that is full of question marks for a team that saw itself win its first-ever District title and went undefeated through the tough Ozark Conference, but answering those questions will be a talented and willing group of young lady athletes who will, above all else, represent the Lady Laker Softball program in a very positive and respectful way. Hard working athletes usually reach high expectations. The coaching staff has very high expectations for this group --- they are all dedicated and hard workers, and with that combination there can be little doubt that 2017 should be a very good year for the Lady Laker Softball team.

It has taught me to be tough, be competitive, have a positive attitude and to keep going even when things get tough; what softball has taught me the most is friendship. I have collected some great memories with great people, and almost all of my most memorable moments were on a softball field somewhere. Through my years of being an underclassman and seeing my role model seniors graduating and moving on to bigger and better things motivated me to do the same. I am very enthusiastic about continuing my education at State Fair Community College in Sedalia. One thing I will always tell upcoming freshmen is to listen to your parents when they say that high school goes by fast. It s true. So don t blink, or you might miss it. 12 Raegan Waters 10 Infield/Outfield 14 Sidney Jones 11 2nd Base 15 Haile Farris 11 Pitcher/Infield 18 Lyndsay Boots 12 Pitcher 24 Kylee Moore 9 Infield/Outfield 25 Skylar Sederwall 9 Utility Softball Coaching Staff Pictured Left to Right: Assistant Coach Hannah Campbell Head Coach Rick Calbert Assistant Coaches Tyler Dinsdale and Elizabeth Grover Ozark Conference Champs 2016 District Champs 2016 Softball Schedule Aug Sullivan Tourn. 32 Senior I won my first swim meet before I was born! ~ Blake LAPINE Boys Swim Team Wow, said Coach Anna Leezer, the boys had a great inaugural swim season! We had a twelve-man team, seven of whom had never swum competitively before. I am so proud of their accomplishments. All of the swimmers scored points for our team; we medaled in many events and in several meets. One of our swimmers placed fifth in the Conference swim meet, and every swimmer dropped times in their events. This year we have nine swimmers. Most all are returning, along with two brand new athletes! We are looking at an amazing schedule, swimming against those in Ozark Conference as well as the Central Ozark Conference. Our invitational includes teams from the entire state of Missouri, so the team will be exposed to many levels of competition. We look forward to: setting new personal best times setting new school time records and breaking old ones qualifying for State becoming a strong base to support each of our team members This year holds so many opportunities for Camdenton swimmers to shine as students, athletes, swimmers, and leaders! 33 I am really excited about the upcoming year! One new freshman joined the team with lots of energy, skill, and technique. Adding her to an already amazing group of talent is going to make for an outstanding team this year. Dance Team Coach: Lisa Vasquez This summer, the Laker Dance team hosted a National Dance Alliance (NDA) camp where they learned a variety of routines to perform at football and basketball games. During camp, they earned a blue Superior ribbon for their team dance. In addition, all the girls earned a Superior ribbon for their individual performances. Not only did the team earn an invitation to the NDA National Championships, they also received invitations to several varsity special events. Without a doubt this will be an exciting, as well as entertaining, season! 34 LAKER CROSS COUNTRY - Want to Race? WANT TO RACE? When we were young children hanging out at the park or on a playground, this question was frequently proposed to kids. It represented a challenge to anyone who was near to see who was the fastest. As Americans, racing is in our blood. Challenging others is how we became such a great country. Cross Country is essentially just that - a challenge to see who is the best. Racing is the heart of XC and that is what we strive to instill in our runners. XC takes courage, determination, and perseverance. Fortunately for us, we have a group of runners who accept this challenge and have been working hard over the summer to become the best they can and to win the race. Many of our kids from last year are gone, but there are some who have stayed and a few more new ones have shown up. Leading the way for the team this year on the boys side are returning lettermen Garrett Mason and Andrew DiBello. Garrett is a junior who was a State Sectional qualifier last year and is our top returnee. He also just missed being All-Conference, which is very difficult, by just a few seconds. Andrew is a sophomore who had a nice freshman campaign and is now running strong after a baseball injury to his knee. Two new faces on the boys side are sophomore Jake Thoenen and junior Sam Gray. Jake is an extremely hard worker who runs track and plays soccer as well. Doing two sports this fall will be difficult, but I have much faith that he will do what is necessary to help his teammates. Sam is a transfer from Louisiana where he ran XC and track. Sam is dedicated to the sport of running and has been a great fit for our team. Riley Head is attempting his first year of cross country and is hoping to make an impact for the team. On the girls side we have only two returning letter winners from last year in juniors Erika Nevins and Sarah Ketchum. Both of these girls will have to set an example for the others as we look to add more girls to our team. Junior Skyler Sweezor is out for XC for the first time and looks to make an immediate impact for our team. Another multi-sport

35 athlete (mixing soccer and XC this fall), she is extremely dedicated and has already made great improvement in her running over the summer. We are always looking for boys and girls who are hardworking and willing to accept the challenge that XC provides. XC is a great sport that inspires self-discipline and goal setting. So if you WANT TO RACE, come and join us for the challenge to see who is the fastest! And remember, It s always a great day to be a RUNNER!
