2 IMAGINE CREATE PLAY Static Trapeze With Rebekah Kordas Tuesday 3 and Friday 6 July $80 for the course of 2 workshops Learn the fundamentals of static trapeze in this two-part course. You will master standard positions, movements and tricks. Please wear full length tights and a close-fitting t-shirt. Coastal Composition Wednesday 4 and Friday 6 July 2:00pm 4:00pm Finding inspiration from one of Townsville s sandy beaches, participants will paint their own ocean using acrylic paints and techniques to create texture, as well as using pallet knives and blending. Bring your favourite beach photo or use one of ours. Zombie Apocalypse With Jonathon Brown Thursday 5, Friday 6 and Monday 9 July $120 for the course of 3 workshops A terrible plague is affecting the young people of Townsville, turning them into the living dead. Over three workshops participants will create a comedic B grade zombie movie, scout for locations around Riverway, rehearse the scenes and star in the video. All you have to bring are brains, deliciously creative brains. Acro Intensive- With Izaak Yarrington Thursday 5 and Tuesday 10 July $80 for the course of 2 workshops This 2-part intensive will see your skills and techniques advance and be polished. Tumbling is a fundamental element in gymnastics, dance, circus and cheerleading. This course is aimed at gaining skills and building confidence in these disciplines, including hand springs, walkovers and round-offs. You will be taught drills that develop body shape and correct technique to practice on your own. Prior knowledge in tumbling is beneficial. Mixed Media Self Portrait Monday 9 and Wednesday 11 July In this two part course you will learn 4 different mediums and the techniques to help improve your drawing skills. Bring along a photo of yourself to sketch using pencil, oil pastel, charcoal and pen. Eggciting Eggsperiments- With Emma Luxford Monday 9 and Wednesday 11 July Can you walk on eggs? Trap an egg inside a bottle? Make a naked egg? We ll try a range of eggsellent eggsperiments and teach you the science behind them. After you ve learnt all things eggy, work with in groups to find out which team can make an egg system to save Humpty when he falls off the wall in this eggciting 2part course. Funk Hip Hop Masterclass With Tara Howard Tuesday 10 and Thursday 12 July Learn some street style moves in this Hip Hop and Funk course. Across the two days, master funk and hip hop techniques adding to your dance skill repertoire while you learn a group routine. Silks and Lyra- With Rebekah Kordas Wednesday 11 and Friday 13 July $80 for the course of 2 workshops Learn the fundamentals of aerial silk and lyra (aerials ring) in this two -part short course. Learn to climb, wrap and roll on the silks, as well as mastering standard positions, movements and tricks on the apparatus. Please wear full length tights and a close-fitting t-shirt.

Explore the make believe Kingdom of Ice that is ruled by the evil Snow Queen and her nasty snow Bees who The Land of Ice and Snow have taken a boy hostage. How does water affect different materials? Can you make water jump from one cup to another? Discover what Waterworks happens when materials float, sink or absorb water. Butterfly in a Box Make a beautiful paper butterfly and a box home for it to live in. Santa and his Elves have come to Townsville for a holiday. All is going well until Sparkles the Elf goes missing. Christmas in July What's happened to him and will we find him before it's time to go back to the North Pole? Silks and Circus Shapes An introduction to aerial silks as well as the fundamentals of circus shapes. Aquarium Diorama Pretzel Log Cabin Create an octopus home or a clown fish swimming around an anemone. This will be your own aquarium made by using craft materials and a cereal box. Design and build a log cabin using pretzels and marshmallows in this STEM challenge. Wednesday 4th July Circus Hijinks Explore aspects of circus acrobalance, tumbling and play with circus manipulation toys. Explore the comical potential of the Superhero genre and celebrate the Superhero qualities in each individual Superhero Extravaganza by creating your own superhero's and villains, use them to play drama games and develop stories to act out their superpowers. Jelly Bean STEM Sort, count, graph, experiment, build and taste in a series of STEM activities all involving jelly beans. Ink Tie Dyed T-Shirts Bring in a plain white T-shirt and make a one of a kind wearable artwork of your own design. To the Rescue! There s trouble brewing. The only ones who can save the day are the Rescue Squad! Act as your favourite superhero and join the squad on a daring rescue mission. Intro to Trapeze Learn the fundamentals of static trapeze, including standard positions, movements and tricks. Please wear full length tights and a close fitting t-shirt. Worry Monster Create a cute monster that will gobble up your worries while you sleep. Write down your worry and feed it to your monster. In the morning, your worries will be gone! Sweet Science Using common sweets and treats, you will learn about colours and how they mix in these fun, sweet experiments. Thursday 5th July Explore the basics of being upside down! Learn how to hold yourself on your hands, cartwheel and roll about Handstands & Cartwheels with strong and safe body positions. A workshop were humour is the main aim. Learn some funny acting techniques such as slapstick, impressions, Don t Make Me Laugh and exaggerated facial expressions to try and make the group laugh, grin or chuckle. Fizzy Fun STEM Explore chemical reactions with common household items. It will be a blast! String Art Choose one of our designs and make some amazing art by using string, nails, wood and a hammer. You never know who might be on the other side of the door. How will you find out who it is? Will you let them Who s at the Door? in? Learn how to get upside down and how to get upright again! Arch shapes are important for learning how to Cartwheels & Walkovers walk over as are handstands and cartwheels. Use coloured paper, magazines, tissue paper, yarn, stickers and stencils to create a crazy collage creation for you Collage Creation to keep. Eggcellent Eggsperiments Learn a handy trick to separate egg whites, make a naked egg and test how strong eggs can be. To Infinity and Beyond Jazz Ballet Sweet Science Watercolour Trees Friday 6th July Build a spaceship and explore the outer region of space. What alien worlds will we find? How will we get back home to Earth when the proto-plasma engines fail? Explore this style of dance as you create a group routine. Build on your existing dance skills and learn some new techniques. Using common sweets and treats, you will learn about colours and how they mix in these fun, sweet experiments. Learn watercolour techniques including blending to make a series of watercolour trees. Ballet for Littlies Come and tip-toe your way through a magical dance experience as you learn simple ballet steps and techniques. The Earth has received a mysterious call for help. We need to race across the Universe to meet the strange Planet X beings of Planet X and save them from certain demise. Use paint to create a harmonious artwork all while learning what symmetry is and a little bit about colour Symmetry Painting theory. Balloon Powered Car Build a car powered by a simple balloon and recycled materials.

But beware, there will be all sorts of dangers on the way aaaarrr! Hip Hop Step outside the box and get your funk on! Learn basic hip hop moves while you practice a new dance routine. Fingerprint Stamping Use your fingerprints to create some clever animal artwork using ink pads and paint. Amusement Park Get your ticket to ride at the BRICKS 4 KIDZ amusement park! Build rides, learn how to make things spin, roll, turn and rock. Motorised models maximise the action and fun. Hip Hop Hippity Hop Get your feet moving and learn a funky dance while learning a variety of hip moves. Swashbuckling Adventures Our last crew were eaten by a cruel sea monster and we need new scurvy sea dogs to join Captain Stinky Toes to follow the treasure map, explore the island of Riverway, and find the pirate treasure. Safari Adventure Grab your camera and hop in the Jeep! We re going on a BRICKS 4 KIDZ safari adventure! Navigate through the jungle, snapping pictures of lions, elephants and chimpanzees on your brick camera! Magical Watercolour Draw invisible patterns and designs and see them appear with the help of watercolour paints. Tuesday 10th July Handstands & Cartwheels Explore the basics of being upside down! Learn how to hold yourself on your hands, cartwheel and roll about with strong and safe body positions A drama workshop were we explore the world with out our eyes. Bring a friend and test the trust you have in Blind Trust them as we take turns being blindfolded and challenge the senses, as well as helping to develop communication and teamwork skills. Making Musical Instruments Make musical instruments: a box guitar, a chicken cup and a drum with everyday items then write a sound scape with our newly made band. Milk Sculptures Did you know jewellery worn by Queen Mary of England was made from milk? Learn how in this STEM based class and see what creations you can make with plastic made from milk. Help the rainbow serpent make rivers and mountains, change into an Australian animal and explore the country Rainbow Serpent but something is missing, water! The frog has swallowed all the water, we must make him laugh to spurt out the water to fill the billabongs and rivers. Cartwheels & Walkovers Learn how to get upside down and how to get upright again! Arch shapes are important for learning how to walk over as are handstands and cartwheels. Butter and Ice Cream Shake, shake, shake and help us turn milk into butter and ice cream. Don t worry, you will get a chance to replenish your energy when we eat the finished products at the end. Rhythm Workshop Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get happy it's percussion time. Come and learn a group percussion accompaniment to Pharrell Williams Happy'. Wednesday 11th July Tumbling & Mini Tramp Jump, twist, tumble and roll! Learn tumbling and trampolining skills. Balloon Games & Activities Hey, That s Me! Right or Left Brained Balloon Fun & Games Tumbling & Mini Tramp Button Buildings Moon Painting Rumble Tumble Cheerleading Dinosaur Fossils How much fun can you have with a balloon, or 2, or 10? Heaps, let me tell you. Get your team work skills on and work together to beat either the clock or the other team. Create a full body self-portrait by using your outline on paper and lots of craft materials. You may have a dominant hand, foot or eye. Try these series of experiments to discover the difference between your left and right brain. Balloons are lots of fun and in this class you ll play lots of games, practice taking turns and develop gross motor skills through running, playing, catching and throwing. Jump, twist, tumble and roll! Learn tumbling and trampolining skills. How high can you build a button tower? Can you make a cube? Try these STEM based challenges involving buttons and learn some building techniques. Improve your blending skills by using sponges and brushes to paint a moon and its starry sky. Thursday 12th July An introduction to the world of circus tumble, jump, bounce and manipulate circus toys. Learn the basics of stunting, dance, jumps & tumbling for a cheerleading routine and how to safely hold, catch and support your friends. Bring your smiles and a little bit of sass. Wear gym shoes. Become a palaeontologist for the day and make your own dinosaur fossils using clay! Card and Coin Tricks Cheerleading Cirque de Play Learn some card and coin tricks to amaze your family and friends Learn the basics of stunting, dance, jumps and tumbling for a cheerleading routine and how to safely hold, catch and support your team mates. Bring your big smiles and wear gym shoes. Learn elements of circus : tumble, jump, bounce and manipulate circus toys. In this STEM based class you will try a series of activities and experiments to help you learn about how your body Body Works works Ever wanted a pet dragon? Well we don t have any dragons, but by using your creativity you will make some Dragon Eggs fantastic dragon eggs!

An exploration into the fundamentals of yoga; learn basic postures and breathing techniques. Dive into a journey with us under the sea in our BRICKS 4 KIDZ water playground! See how many sea creatures you can identify crabs, clownfish, turtles and more! Come swim with us! Learn the way of Picasso and Braque in this technical art form that has been simplified for you to accomplish. An exploration of yoga in a fun, playful and safe environment; learn about your body and your spirit. Learn the fundamentals of static trapeze, including standard positions, movements and tricks. Please wear full length tights and a close fitting t-shirt. Puzzle Tree Collage together mix and matched puzzle pieces to create your own beautiful picture. A Pirate s Quest Shiver me timbers and batten down the hatches in this BRICKS 4 KIDZ piratey adventure. Build your pirate ship and set sail on a quest to hunt for buried treasure! Navigate your way through murky waters but beware the snappy LEGO crocs are hungry! With your own motor, you don t have to wait for a favourable wind me hearties! Eye patches and parrots optional! Please note that any LEGO and builds created in the BRICKS 4 KIDZ workshops are not available to be taken home. However, you will get a little something to take home as a thank you. Learn some street style moves and Hip Hop techniques while you learn a group routine. Participants will incorporate light bulbs into their drawing, but they ll have to be switched on. Using pencils and pen to create these drawings, and learning techniques such as stippling and hatching there are bound to be some bright ideas and illuminating works of art. Learn how to paint a rotting zombie and a fairy princess using face painting techniques. Develop sponge, brush and composition techniques, learning from a face painter with 12 years experience. What's it like to be part of the undead army? What sort of chaos will be unleashed on the unsuspecting humans? Will you be a vampire, skeleton or zombie? Pleaz bring brains. Learn to juggle, spin poi, hula hoop and spin plates. Learn new tricks and skills in how to throw, catch, spin and manipulate a range of equipment. This class is a fun and challenging opportunity for students to test their engineering skills and experience the planning, creativity, problem-solving and team-work required for a career in engineering. Participants will take part in a challenge to see who can build the strongest bridge using only the materials provided. Friday 13th July Friday 13th July Abstract This Battle it Out! With Nicole Prudames Shape, line, texture and colour are the most important subject matter in abstract painting. This class will help participants unleash their creativity using acrylic paint and a variety of materials and techniques to create a masterpiece. Team up and learn about engineering in a fun way! Build catapults and motorised vehicles for games and challenges - can you use your catapult to hit your target? Modify your vehicle to make it indestructible!
6 Held amid the shady trees of Mountview Park in Kirwan, our third Little Day Out event is on Sunday 17 June. Spend an afternoon playing, creating and discovering at this free event for children, young people and their families. Have fun with Council's Library Services First Five Forever program's Messy Play Activities, try your hand at circus and aerials, be entertained by professional actors as they bring classic children s tales to life, explore the fire engine, do some Grasshopper soccer drills and activities, try out the obstacle course, create some art and craft or simply relax in the chill out zone listening to Gypsy Sounds, just to mention a few activities. Little Day Out is a series of four, free events to be held across the year and is funded by the Queensland Government through the Department of Premier and Cabinet s We are Queensland Small Grants Program.
