1 The following information is important to all Glitz cheerleaders for All cheerleaders and their parents/guardians need to be aware of all the requirements and expectations of all Glitz athletes. Please read through the following information and sign and return the form at the end. If you have any questions related to the information contained, please speak to one of the cheer coaches as soon as possible. s will be sent out prior to Friday the 11 th of December as to which team you have been accepted into. Planned Cheer Teams for 2016 Glitz Sparkles Tiny level 1 Glitz Gold Junior level 2 Glitz Diamonds Senior Co-ed level 4 Glitz Platinum Development Co-ed Open level 5 Group stunt and Partner stunt to be decided term 1, please give your name to your coach if you wish to be considered. Other teams may be created if sufficient interest is shown. Training Hours Training days/times will be confirmed in January, when we have finalized our timetable. We will do our best to keep training times the same as stated but it may vary once we know when our coaches are available in between school/uni and other commitments. Timetable attached. 2 Training Requirements Members of all cheer teams must attend all training sessions throughout the year. If a cheerleader is injured they must still attend training, without participating. This ensures that they are aware of any changes made to skills/choreography in those lessons, and avoids wasting time repeating explanations when they return. Any Cheerleaders who are unwell are still encouraged to attend training for the same reasons as above. Obviously we do not expect them to attend if they are violently ill, or contagious, but minor colds and headaches will not prevent them from observing the lessons. Any training dates that will be missed due to school camps, others sports, etc., must be given to the coaches as soon as they are known. Any training sessions that fall upon public holidays will still be running. Training is not to be missed without at least three weeks notice to the squads coach(es). Cup weekend is compulsory for all cheerleaders, as this is the date of one of our competitions and all teams will be competing. Uniforms As of 2016 we will be introducing new uniforms for Glitz Sparkles and Glitz Gold. The uniforms will be designed around the existing Diamonds uniform to create unity between the squads. Prices will be confirmed once the design has been finalised. Diamonds uniforms will be the same as Prices of second-hand uniforms are to be negotiated between the old and new owners. New uniforms cost approximately $180. Final cost of bows will be advised once they have been designed and ordered. Cheerleaders must also have cheer shoes. You are welcome to search and purchase these online, or we can order some into glitz for you. Shoes cost approximately $120. These shoes are to be worn for training/competition. Club t-shirts cost $25, and are a compulsory part of the uniform which must be worn to competitions. Crop tops and jackets are also available to purchase. Withdrawal from Glitz Cheerleading Cheerleaders are welcome to train with Glitz squads before deciding whether or not they wish to commit to the training requirements of the team. This decision must be made before the coaches have determined final stunt groups and begun choreography, so as to create minimal disturbance to the progress of the team. Any cheerleader who does not wish to continue with the program must make this decision by the end of term 1, After this date, all cheerleaders are required to commit to the training and competitions for the remainder of the year.

3 Competitions All members of each cheerleading squad (with the exception of Glitz Platinum) are required to attend every competition listed below. All of these competitions are compulsory. Winterfest 24 th - 26 th June, State Basketball Centre All Star Battle 5 th - 7 th August, State Basketball Centre State Championships 15 th - 18 th September, Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre Spring Carnival 28 th -30 th State Basketball Centre Glitz Diamonds and Glitz Gold will also be attending the Cheerleading Nationals held at the Gold Coast Nationals 25 th -27 th November, Gold Coast Convention Centre It is recommended to book your flights and accommodation at the beginning of the year as it is during schoolies period. We will be giving out more information, hotel recommendations and finalized dates for nationals at the beginning of term one once the teams have been decided. If you do have any queries in the mean time please do not hesitate to let us know. Fees Fees for training are invoiced on a term by term basis, and vary according to the number of hours being trained per week. 2 hours $28 per week 3 hours $35 per week 4 hours $41 per week 5 hours $47 per week In addition to the above fees, an annual registration fee of $60 must also be paid. Total cost of Competition entry fees will be approximately $400.

4 Fundraising We realize that all of the cost associated with this sport do add up quite quickly. To help in covering these costs, the cheerleading squads will often organise a number of fundraising events throughout the year, to help cover the costs of music, uniforms and team activities at the National Championships. While Glitz will assist in these fundraising activities, for them to be truly successful, parental assistance is required!! If you would be willing to contribute some of your time throughout the year, please make the appropriate indications on the form at the end of this information pack. Athlete Requirements While we encourage our cheerleaders to make friends, enjoy training and have fun at competitions, we do also expect a level of dedication and seriousness in training. Cheerleaders are to follow the instructions of the coach, respect all members of the squad, and always push themselves to improve. This is a sport and we aim for top results in each competition we enter. To achieve this goal there is a skill level requirement for all cheerleaders in the team. If an individual cannot achieve the minimum skills required they will not be a part of the team entered into competitions. They may continue training with their squad as an understudy or may be dropped into a lower squad. Any decisions in relation to this will be made by the coaches of the squad and are not open to appeals until the individual has made an improvement in training and achieved the minimum skills required. Cheerleaders must follow all of the rules set for training: Must be appropriately attired for class. Hair must be tied back and cheer shoes worn for all classes. Mobile phone must not enter the gym. Phone calls to parents are permitted if necessary, but training time is for training not socializing. Friends are welcome to come and watch training, but all spectators must watch from the foyer, and cannot distract the Cheerleaders from their training session. Fake nails are not permitted in the competition season. All piercings must be removed prior to performing at competitions Cheerleaders are also subject to all of the general rules that apply to all Glitz members. These rules are in place for the safety and comfort of all participants.
