1 RULES AND REGULATION NEWSCASTING COMPETITION OF BRAWIJAYA ENGLISH TOURNAMENT 2018 TECHNICAL MEETING 1. In this Technical Meeting, the performance order for Preliminary Round and the topic of the materials for the Semi Final Round must be drawn by all participants or their representative. 2. The Technical Meeting must be attended by all participants or their representative. Absence by the participant or the representative means that the topic and the performance order of the participant depends on the committee. 3. If the participant knows beforehand that they cannot attend the Technical Meeting, they have to inform the committee. The participant has to explain whether they will send a representative or let the committee determine their performance order. The participant can inform the committee by phone or via text message. PRELIMINARY ROUND, SEMIFINAL ROUND, AND FINAL ROUND 1) participants are allowed to bring supporters to performance room maximum 2 people only in semifinal and final round 2) Any person should not enter or leave the competition room when a participant is performing because it may cause a distraction towards the participant.
2 Preliminary Round A. News Reading 1. There are 3 news topics that will be presented in this competition 2. Committees will upload 3 articles into the website ( and all participants have to recompose the articles into presentable scripts 3. Each participant has to perform 1 (one) of those scripts 4. The chosen script, will be choose randomly right before the performance time. 5. The order of the performance will be drawn on the Technical Meeting 6. The maximum time that will be given for this round (news reading and weather forecast combined) is 7 minutes. 7. Each participant will get chance to be present their news during 7 Minutes include Opening, Content And Closing. 8. The maximum time that will be given for Preliminary round is 7 minutes. The participant will be given a freedom to manage their own timing for News Reading and Weather Forecast. The committee will give a sign on minute 3 (green flag), 5 (yellow flag) and at the end of the duration (red flag) B. Weather Forecast 1. There are 3 Weather Forecast Maps that will be presented by the committee on the Technical Meeting. Participant will get 3 maps from different countries, participant must learn these maps. 2. Each Participant has to report 1 (one) weather forecast that will choose randomly by the committee. The chosen map will be shown on the performance time. 3. Participants are allowed to bring a small notes. 4. The maximum time that will be given for this round (news reading and weather forecast combined) is 7 minutes. 5. The maximum time that will be given for Preliminary round is 7 minutes. The participant will be given a freedom to manage their own timing for News Reading and Weather Forecast. The committee will give a sign on minute 3 (green flag), 5 (yellow flag) and at the end of the duration (red flag)
3 Semi Final Round A. News Reading Tandem 1. In this semi final round, the performance consists of two participants for each performance. 2. Participants should perform the news reading as a partner. 3. The participants will be randomly paired by the lottery that will be given after the Breaking Night Party. 4. Each paired participants has to perform 1 (one) of the choosen topic. The topic will be drawn at Technical Meeting. 5. The topic will be given in small letter and only consist of 1 sentence which is the head of the news 6. Participant must adjust and develop the material for their own performance in the competition. The content (script) has to be related to the main news materials 7. The maximum time that will be given for semi final round is 5 minutes. The committee will give a sign on minute 3 (green flag), 4 (yellow flag) and at the end of the duration (red flag)
4 Final Round A. Live Report 1. In this Round, participants will be shown 3 live report videos from the projector. Each video, will be played twice 2. Participants will be given 20 minutes to learn the videos and 30 minutes for preparation. Participants are allowed to bring small notes for their performances 3. Participant must report 1 (one) of those videos. The chosen video will be choose right before the performance time. 4. Each participant will get chance to be present their live report in 5 Minutes include Opening, Content And Closing. 5. The maximum time to present live report material is 5 minutes. The committee will give a sign on minute 2 (green flag), 4 (yellow flag) and at the end of the duration (red flag)
5 PHYSICAL APPEARANCE 1. Every participant must keep his/her appearance neat and clean, this includes hair neatness. 2. A minimal use of cosmetics is allowed for the participants. 3. Every participant who disobeys the physical appearance rules will get a deduction of point from the decision of the judges a. Tops Every participant has to wear a formal shirt. Participants are not allowed to wear a t-shirt. Every participant has to wear a blazer and not allowed to wear any form of jacket; that includes school jacket. It is advisable to wear a neutral or dark colored blazer b. Skirt or Trouser Male participants have to wear a formal trouser. Female participants are allowed to wear a formal trouser or a formal skirt. It is advisable to wear a neutral or dark colored trouser or skirt. Every participant is not allowed to wear jeans c. Shoes Male participants have to wear black or dark colored loafers shoes. Female participants are allowed to wear loafers shoes or pump heels. It is advisable to wear neutral or dark colored shoes. Every participant is not allowed to wear any forms of sandals and sneakers.
