Location: 500 East Elm Street, Cowan Civic Center, Lebanon, MO Pageant Date: Saturday, December 9 th, 2017 Deadline to Enter: Monday, November 20 th, 2017 Entry Fee: $300* ($250 for returning contestants) +$50 Mandatory Ad Page Fee *Payment Plans Available Contestant Divisions: As of Fall 2017* Miss Missouri Junior High School America: 5-8th grade Miss Missouri High School America: 9-11th grade Miss Missouri Collegiate America: 12th grade - Enrolled in College, University, Grad School, Tech School or Beauty College, no older than 27. (Please be prepared to show proof of current enrollment via current grade-card or transcript. Home-schooled contestants are welcome to compete as well) *Explanation: Contestant must compete as if they were competing in the national pageant in the summer of 2018.

2 Competition Includes: Private Interview: 40% of score. A 4 minute, panel style interview where the judges have the opportunity to get know each contestant. Questions will be based on contestant's fact sheet. Attire requirement is a career style or business dress or jumpsuit. Suits are not permitted. You will provide the judges with a resume for this portion of the competition (example in this packet, due by November 20 th Deadline). Evening Gown: 40% of score. Attire requirement is something you would wear to prom or a formal event, age appropriate. Junior high contestants must wear a full skirt ball-gown, high school contestants may not have a slit higher than the knee, two piece is allowed across all age divisions (national pageant rules).

3 Fashion Runway: 20% of score. Contestants will model a fun outfit that shows off their personality. It can be anything that you choose: dress, high-low dresses, pants, jumpsuit, etc. No swimsuits, props, denim, or hats! Think "High Fashion New York Runway". Each contestant will model their outfit on stage to fun upbeat music (music is provided). Judges will be looking for contestants' personality on stage, an outfit that shows off contestants' uniqueness/personality, and contestants' confidence. In order to compete you must turn in the following by the November 20th deadline: Entry Form (in this packet, or online) Head-shot (for the program book, this is not scored) Entry Fee, $250 for Returning Contestants, $300 for New Contestants (Cash, Check, or PayPal, if you pay via PayPal you will be responsible for PayPal fees. Checks must be made payable to Show Me Pageants. We do offer payment plans!) Mandatory Ad Page Payment ($50) Full Page Ad Page for Program Book (designed by Taylor Whitaker, cost for design is $25, which will be paid directly to Taylor Whitaker) Resume for Interview (example in this packet) Other Important Information: Opening Introductions: We do not have an opening number dance, but each contestant will come on stage and introduce herself. This introduction is simple and is just your name and school, for example: Abilene Lortz, St. James Middle School or Holly Sprow, Washington University. Please wear a white outfit, this can be either a dress, romper, or jumpsuit. No full length gowns. Outfit may be plain or jeweled/stoned. This portion is not judged, please do not feel like you must go spend a lot of money on this outfit. Shoes should be nondistracting clear, nude, silver, or white heels or flats.

4 Contestant Head-Shot: You will turn in a head-shot which will be featured on our website for the people s choice award and in our program book. This photo should be of the upper body only (preferably head/shoulders) and should represent YOU. This photo will NOT be judged for photogenic. Your photogenic photo is taken the day of the pageant. You are welcome to use any photographer that you see fit for your contestant head-shot. We do want to let you know that our sponsored photographer Paisley Prints Photography has done national head-shots for our organization in the past and is offering a special rate to contestants of only $99 per head-shot session at her studio! This includes 5 retouched images. Professional hair and make-up may be available upon request for an additional fee. She is located in the Lake of the Ozarks area in central Missouri. You can contact her via her facebook page ( via amiehix@gmail.com, or via call/text (573) Mandatory Ad Page: It is mandatory that each contestant purchase a $50 full size color ad page in the program book. We encourage you to seek sponsors to pay for this! Sponsors can be family, friends, or local businesses, and it is an advertising tax deduction for them (sponsorship receipts are available from the pageant office). Any money that you raise outside of the $50 mandatory fee is yours to keep for wardrobe, travel expenses, entry fee, etc. There is a mandatory ad page designer for the program book! This ensures a consistent and professional look throughout our book and provides your sponsors with the best chance for positive exposure. The mandatory ad page designer is Taylor Whitaker (former Miss Arkansas Teen USA!). She is based out of St. Louis, Missouri and is offering a special rate of $25 for ad page design. This is hassle free for you! Taylor knows our guidelines and will make your ad page look amazing! You must have your ad page turned into the state pageant office by November 20 th, so please make sure you give Taylor time to design your ad and get it back to the pageant office by that date. Please be familiar with the national platform for the organization,

5 BRAVE (Building Respect and Values for Everyone). You do not have to be an expert on this topic, just plan to be familiar with it. Photogenic Award: Following your private interview you will go straight to the pageant photographer and have your photo taken. This is a head-shot that will be used to judge photogenic. You will be wearing what you wore during your interview for this photo. This award does not influence scores for queen or runners up. Paisley Prints Photography: Our official photography sponsor is Paisley Prints Photography ( ). Did you know that your entry fee INCLUDES A FREE PHOTOSHOOT? Whenever you are having your photogenic photo taken after your interview you will have a minisession with Paisley Prints Photography completely free! Last year each contestant had between 8-15 edited shots to choose from for purchase (digital download or prints). These photos as well as stage shots from the competition will be available for purchase within the weeks following the pageant. People s Choice Award: After the November 20 th deadline has closed the People s Choice Award voting will begin. These votes will be cast online on our website ( It is $1 per vote and ALL of the funds (minus PayPal fees) will be given back to our newly crowned queens to assist them with expenses for the national pageant. The contestant with the highest number of votes in each age group will be our people s choice award winner. Contest ends on December 8 th at 8PM. This award does not influence scores for queen or runners up. Last year our new queens were each given over $400 in CASH! Payment Plans: We are happy to set you up with a payment plan! Payment Plans will vary based on the date that you sign up. For example, if you sign up on August 15 th you have four months until the deadline (November 20 th ). So, we can set you up on a payment plan of $87.50 every 30 days (For example, August 15 th, September 15 th, October 15 th, November 15 th ). Scores: Scores & comments will be sent via within 2 weeks following the pageant. Pageant Hotel: We do not have any events planned at a hotel, so it is up to you which hotel you book with, but we will have a group block set-up with a discounted rate at the Holiday Inn in Lebanon, MO (6-8 minutes from the theatre). You must book your room by November 24 th to be guaranteed a room for this rate.

6 Professional Hair and Make-Up Artists: The following hair and make-up artists are making themselves available to contestants for the 2018 Miss Missouri Junior High, High School, and Collegiate America Pageant. These approved artists will be set-up in the dressing room at the Cowan Civic Center on pageant day. You must contact each hair and make-up artist to find out their rates and availability, each artist will be different and I know some only accept a limited number of girls. It is not required to hire a professional hair and make-up artist. You are welcome to do your own hair and make-up or have a sister/aunt/mother do it if you d like. 11 What does it mean if I win Miss Missouri Junior High/High/Collegiate? Having the opportunity to represent the state of Missouri at the national Miss Junior High, High School, and Collegiate America Pageant is a huge honor and responsibility. If you are chosen as a Missouri queen you will be guided every step of the way by your state director and former Miss Missouri Collegiate America, CJ Thomas. That being said, it is still important to be aware what exactly competing at nationals will entail if you do win the Missouri competition. Nationals will take place June 18 th 23 rd, 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas, just a short drive from our home state of Missouri! Costs $750 National Entry Fee (PAID for by the state pageant) $500 Program Book Ad Page (this is due in the beginning months of 2018 and you are welcome to sell advertisements to local businesses to help cover this cost, keep in mind that the 3 new queens will split the funds raised by people s choice, so there is a possibility this could also be paid for! Last year our queens each received $400 CASH to help with national expenses!) Wardrobe (Portions of your wardrobe are sponsored by the state pageant) Travel Expenses (Fuel, Food, Hotel, the contestant s meals are provided by the national pageant) Professional Hair and Make-Up at nationals (Optional) You are encouraged to reach out to members of your community and state to help raise money for your national competition.
