Ballet School of Glyndon Celebrating 48 Years of Dance Education! Program Guide 22
Welcome to the Dance Year! We are pleased and proud to be celebrating the 48th year of the Ballet School of Glyndon! Thank you to all of our dedicated students and parents who made the dance year a success!!! Welcome to all of our new families and dancers! Ballet School of Glyndon historically is a co-op program. Due to our parent volunteers, we are able to keep tuition costs down and fundraise money to further grow our program. In the past, we have expanded our fundraising to allow for the purchase of new ballet barres, dance floor and mirrors, a performance trip for older students to Disney World, and the ability to offer scholarships to students in need. We are also able to provide scholarships to dance workshops with experienced professional dance artists. All of the support we receive has allowed us to provide the best quality dance program possible! As we enter the new dance year, you will find we are holding classes at Cedarmere Elementary School recreation room/dance studio We are following the environmentally (and cost effective) trend of being GREEN! You will receive most updates and other important information via . Please make sure we have your current address on file! You can also check out our website for current program information. If you are not receiving s and/or would like to receive a hard-copy of our information, please let your child s teacher know. Thank you for all of your support and we look forward to an exciting and celebratory year of dance! Thank you! Ms. Rachel, Artistic Director 2 21

A minimum of 5 students must be registered for classes to run. Tuition: Tuition is due at the end of the first week of classes for each session. We have a Fall, Spring and Summer session each year. Payments can be made at the time of online registration via credit card, or you may mail your payment to the address on page 22. All tuition payments are non-refundable. Please make all checks payable to RRC-Ballet. All returned checks will be assessed a $25 fee. New! You are now able to register online, choosing mail in payment and submit payment via credit card at a later time! Please contact Ms. Rachel for the payment link if you choose this option. A tuition discount is offered to our students taking multiple classes as well as our families with multiple students enrolled and will be calculated at the time of online registration. Tuition Discounts $15 off total tuition for 2 children enrolled OR $40 off total tuition for 3 children enrolled OR $75 off total tuition for 4 children or more enrolled OR One Discount Per Family $15 off total tuition for 1 student taking 3 classes $40 off total tuition for 1 student taking 4 classes $75 off total tuition for 1 student taking 5 or more classes Calendar: We follow the Baltimore County Public School (BCPS) system calendar. This may or may not affect your child s class(es). In the event of inclement weather or if Baltimore County Public Schools have an unscheduled early close, we will not hold classes that evening. We will do our best to schedule make-up classes in these two cases, but no guarantee. To find out if classes are cancelled, check our Facebook page, Ballet Glyndon, or check your for updates. 20 3
Program Policies (cont d.) Please note that dates are subject to change based upon facility availability and weather. Make-up classes: We will do our best to offer make up classes for cancellations due to a facility closure. Class Placement: Placement is based on your dancer s age or grade level. Please be aware that they will remain in the class(es) that they are enrolled in at the beginning of the dance year for the entire year. It is to the Director s discretion if a dancer needs to placed in a class other than their age group. Attendance: We strongly encourage regular attendance to dance class. In the Spring session, if dancers miss more than 3 classes without proper notice, they will not be allowed to participate in the recital. Classroom: Parents are asked to wait outside of the classroom during their dancer s class time. There is a designated waiting area at Cedarmere, at the back of the dance studio. We do not allow observation on a regular basis to allow our teachers and students to maintain focused dance education and instruction. Please see the included calendar for our Fall and Spring Visitor Week where families and friends can see our dancers in action! We ask that dancers arrive promptly to class, dressed and ready to move. Arriving a few minutes early to get shoes on and use the restroom will ensure your dancers will receive the most out of their classes. Please make sure your dancer has fully entered the building before you leave. We are not responsible for students who are not in the building. We also ask that dancers are picked up on time at the end of their class. Instructors are preparing to begin their next class, or closing the classroom for the evening. Cell phone use by students during class is prohibited unless there is an emergency. Dancers may bring a plastic water bottle to class. We do have a water cooler in the waiting room if they need to refill it. Please leave snacks at home unless your dancer is at the studio for more than one class. We ask that everyone help keep the waiting areas clean to avoid unwanted critters. To ensure that we properly answer your questions, us at balletschoolglyndon@gmail.com or send us a message on Facebook. We would love to address your questions in person, but that is not always possible with minimal time between classes. 4 19
Dress Code Dancers must be dressed properly for class. This is for dancer safety and allows the instructors to see proper movement execution. Our dress code is also part of the art and discipline of dance education. Please keep all dangling and play jewelry at home to avoid breaking and loosing items. For a tutorial on creating a bun, please visit OR Teachers will also go over bun skills in classes with students. If you do not volunteer for a committee at the time of registration or Open House, then you will be assigned to one. There is also the option of opting out of volunteering and donating $25 to our program. Fundraising: Members of this committee assist in coordinating and organizing program fundraisers. Examples of past fundraisers: Yankee Candle, Joe Corbi s Pizza, Restaurant Nights, Bingo Night and Date Night, Reisterstown Festival concession stand, and recital Candygrams & flower sales.
