National Director: Mel Jones W. Bell Rd, # ANASAZI's On The Road... The ANASAZI's headed to the Western Area FMCA Rally in Indio California January 10th. Larry Kennedy organized a caravan which included 8 rigs meeting for breakfast and then heading West on I-10. The caravan stopped for a break at Chiriaco Summit, were some enjoyed the ice cream, stretched their legs and walked the dogs. During the break we got to see a V-22 Osprey perform touch & go's. We picked up the 9th rig (from Havasu) and headed on to Indio. When we arrived we were met with a familiar smiling face: Mel Jones (on the parking crew). A short time later everyone was parked and ready to enjoy the Beach Party. Although this wasn't an official ANASAZI Rally there were 15 rigs in attendance. Those who attended were: Coppinger's, Hillegas, Diaz, Kennedy's, Brown's, Bannon's, Jones', Schultz's, Myer's, Stallings', Porters', Matthews', Hoye's, Eells', Cernie's.

2 The Western Area even provided a little rain so we could feel like we were at the beach! Don't worry, our group was still able to fit in a couple of Happy Hour's and a nice pot luck on Saturday. One of the favorite events is the parade. Brave souls marched on with the wind and rain threatening the event. Of course some of the Western Chapters really put on a show! The evening entertainment was top notch, with oldies and Beach music for two evenings, and a Country Western tribute in between. The local band called The Flashback Boyz from Indio played nonstop for two hours to open the event!

3 February 2017 Rally Reported by Tom & Carole Eells This months rally had us traveling to Yuma, Arizona. The rally at Fortuna De Oro RV Resort was attended by 15 coaches. We had 3 guests: Nancy s daughter Debbie, and the Van Dijk s, Richard and Ginger. The hosts, the Cernies, Hoyes and Eells, arrived early along with the Schultzs and the Van Dijks. Wednesday s big surprise was at the club house with $7 pitchers of margaritas at happy hour! After that a bidding war started as six teams were bought by the highest bidders with the Larry Bucks they had won. The winner was the 49ers and John Matthews to the tune of $40 in real bucks! Thursday we shared a great pot luck dinner. What an amazing variety of good food! Friday began with breakfast burritos and all the fixings. Then it was off on your own to visit the area. One of the big attractions was the Arizona Market place swap and shop. Some ventured into Mexico as the town of Los Algodones, Baja California is only about 20 miles from the resort. Prop Bet sheets where given to each attendee to choose what would occur during the Super Bowl (i.e. Would the coin toss be Heads or Tails? Would Ryan throw a TD pass in the 3rd quarter?). These had to be turned in that evening. 4:30pm brought on happy hour with light snacks followed by our Super Bowl Kickoff Dinner with hamburgers, salads and Fireball Dump Cake. Then came the NFL football game created by Wayne Cernie. Each person was given $5 in Larry Bucks to bet on the NFL team of choice as they ran down the football field in three games. Night fell and then came the next day. The winner will be announced later in this newsletter. Saturday the hosts served Pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage along with juice and fruit. Then it was off again to explore the area till happy hour. After happy hour we car pooled to the FDO restaurant for a wonderful dinner to celebrate ANASAZI 20th Anniversary.

4 President Larry and the board were presented a certificate from Jack Mayberry RMMA President, who then spoke on what s happening with FMCA. For attending the rally each coach was given a microwave potato bag that were hand made by Betty Cernie. As a side note it was discovered that pitchers of margaritas were $6 now. Many, Many thanks to Warren & Susan Hoye who picked up the entire bar tab! We don t know how much margarita Amy Jones had, but she tried to write a check for $3100 instead of $310, we all had a laugh and a great time. We all agreed that we are looking forward to the next 20 years. The meal prepared by Chef Gary of the resort was fantastic - salad, Chicken Cordon Bleu, vegetable medley, and potatoes Au Gratin. Sunday the day of the big game started with a breakfast by the hosts of quesadillas, juice, fruit, and pastries. Goodbyes to those who were heading home with wishes of safe travel. Following the meal we had a toast and 20th Anniversary cake. Wayne gave a super video presentation of ANASAZI- Twenty Years of Smiles with a copy of the DVD for every coach! Eight coaches stayed to enjoy the game and Marge s Cincinnati chili and other goodies from those who stayed.

5 Presidents Message Mel Jones supplied peppers and the fixings to make bar-b-que poppers, but was unable to stay to enjoy them. Thanks Mel! It was a great game and all watched to see if they had picked the right choices on their Prop sheet. There was only one loud Patriot fan and Jerry Schultz did get the last laugh! March Birthdays Mary Catherine Myers March 10 Pat Coppinger March 16 Jon Hillegas March 16 Pat Ruese March 16 Can you believe that February is almost a 1/3 over and it doesn't even seem to have started! In just a few days we will have Valentine's Day arrive along with the candy, hearts and Its a great day for celebration with all those that are close to you.this past February rally was one that will be remembered for a long time. "Tailgating Superbowl LI was more than interesting. Watching the beginning of another blowout -- some left to go back to their coaches. Those that stayed found themselves watching a very exciting 2nd half. Do you know how hard it was to convince those that left early what the final score was the next morning? The typical response was --"no way, you are kidding right?" You could see the disappointment on their faces for missing the second half. In addition to the Superbowl, we had our 20th anniversary celebration. What a great time we all had! Thank you Jack and Connie Mayberry (RMMA President and his wife) for joining our celebration and rally. It was an honor to have you both. On a side note, the host committee accomplished it goal! The rally group stayed up at the activities past 8pm every night. There is life left in our group in the evening We will see you all at the FMCA convention in Chandler in March. Safe travels to all. Larry Past Presidents Message Thank you, thank you. Thank you for such a wonderful well planned 20th anniversary. Your video brought back so many wonderful memories and the hard work you hosts all did was fantastic. As my daughter told her fiancée- that group eats and drinks all of the time!! My scales on Monday morning definitely confirmed her comment. FYI- the 5th anniversary was held on a roving rally to Parker with Liebermans, Livens, and Adams hosting. The 10th anniversary was held at Usury Mountain Regional Park with Tafts, Keslings and Kirschners hosting. Again, thank you hosts so very much for everything. Nancy Gary & LuVerne Underhill March 30

6 Editors Notes Well, this past rally was sure fun! The best Superbowl in a long time and a whole bunch of people rooting for heads & tails or an even score. It's time to review the results of the first annual ANASAZI Prop bets. Remember the winner is going to win a dinner for two at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Four old retired men are walking down a street in Yuma, Arizona. They turn a corner and see a sign that says, "Old Timers Bar - ALL drinks 10 cents."they look at each other and then go in, thinking this is too good to be true. The old bartender says in a voice that carries across the room, "Come on in and let me pour one for you! What'll it be, gentlemen?" There's a fully stocked bar, so each of the men orders a martini. In no time the bartender serves up four iced martinis shaken, not stirred and says, "That'll be 10 cents each, please." The four guys stare at the bartender for a moment, then at each other. They can't believe their good luck. They pay the 40 cents, finish their martinis, and order another round. Again, four excellent martinis are produced, with the bartender again saying,"that's 40 cents, please." I was going to list all the results but that could turn out to be uncomfortable for some (mainly because most of the wife's did better than the husbands) So I will just list the folks that finished in the top three. The following people were able to pick 9 correct answers out of 15: Carole Eells John Matthews Amy Jones Jack Mayberry Melvin Jones The following people were able to pick 10 correct answers out of 15: Nancy Houck Debbie (Nancy's daughter) Virginia Morrison They pay the 40 cents, but their curiosity gets the better of them. They've each had two martinis and haven't even spent a dollar yet. Finally one of them says, "How can you afford to serve martinis as good as these for a dime apiece?" "I'm a retired tailor from Phoenix," the bartender says, "and I always wanted to own a bar. Last year I hit the Lottery Jackpot for $125 million and decided to open this place. Every drink costs a dime. Wine, liquor, beer it's all the same." "Wow! That's some story!" one of the men says. As the four of them sip at their martinis, they can't help noticing seven other people at the end of the bar who don't have any drinks in front of them and haven't ordered anything the whole time they've been there. Nodding at the seven at the end of the bar, one of the men asks the Bartender, "What's with them?" And the winners are: The bartender says, "They're retired people from Florida. They're waiting for Happy Hour when drinks are half-price..." Jon Hillegas & Mary Catherine Myers both with 11 correct picks! So how did your humble newsletter editor do? Let's just say that next year I'm taking Jon to Laughlin to place my bets LOL. No ANASAZI meeting next month as we will meet in Rawhide for the International Convention!
