7 Questions about Luggage? Carry-on bag: The maximum dimensions for a carry-on bag are 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches (22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm), including handles and wheels. The maximum exterior dimension (length + width + height) of standard checked baggage is 62 inches (158 cm), including handles and wheels.

11 Banking and money service You may bring as much money as you wish into the U.S.; however, any amount of money exceeding the allowed $10,000 (U.S. dollars) maximum must be declared in advance. 12 Banking and money service We do offer student banking on campus for your convenience. You will have your own account that your parents put money in. You have to complete a form before you take money out. Parents can limit the amount of money that their child may take out every week.

13 What you should bring to your dorm Bed Sheets to fit the twin mattress : 39 x 75 inches (99 x190 cm), standard depth = 7 to 9 inches (17.7 x 22.8cm) Blankets: Twin = 66 x 90 (167.6 x cm) inches Pillows: standard = 20 x 26 inches (50.8 x 66cm) (uses a standard size pillowcase)

14 What the School provides for your dorm You will have your own desk and chair ready for you. You will have the bed without sheets or blanket. You will have one closet with door, and there is a secured box inside the closet for you to store your valuables. You will have a chest of drawers.

15 General dorm situation for international girls We have three dorms for girls at Pennington: Buck 2, 3 and 4. You will have your own bathroom with shower and air conditioning in your room :) You will be assigned a roommate by the School as a first-year student.

16 General dorm situation for international girls There are lounges on each floor. Girls can put food in the refrigerators and use the microwave to prepare it. Also, there is a television in Buck 1 lounge for you.

17 General dorm situation for international boys There are 6 dorms for boys located in the third and fourth floors of Old Main, as well as Becher across the street. They are 5th Ave, Smythe, Grace, Goorley, Green and Becher. You will share bathrooms and the lounge on your hall.

18 Clothing General School dress code: All blouse and shirt buttons must be buttoned to just below the collarbone. Outerwear should not be worn in the classroom. Sweatshirts of any kind (hooded, non-hooded, pullover, or zipped) may not be worn during the school day. Pierced ears are permitted for girls only. No other visible piercing or tattoos are permitted. Students must have appropriate hairstyles. Boys must be clean-shaven with no longer than collar-length hair. Baseball caps are not permitted during the school day. Warm hats are permitted during the colder months but must be removed upon entering buildings. For details, please check the student/parents handbook on the School website.

20 Academics You will be issued an ipad when you arrive at Pennington, but we suggest that you bring your own personal computer with you. Please check The Pennington School website for your summer readings. You will have your own Pennington address ready at the beginning of the school year. Please check your s daily! This is the most important and efficient way to communicate with your teachers! Dean of Academic Affairs: Mr. Peeler (more information can be found on slide #23)

22 Things not permitted on campus Medicine: If you are bringing any medicine to Pennington, please have it checked and approved by the School nurse in the Health Center. High power electronics (like hot pots) Things that generate smoke (like candles) Any form of alcohol, drugs or illegal weapons Pets are not allowed on campus.

24 Everything you need to know about signing out: If you want to sign out for a regular weekend, you have to complete the Google form that is sent by Mr. Bridges every Tuesday, and it is due by Thursday morning. For international students, by Thursday, you have to have a permission sent by your parent or guardian to Mrs. Rossi, indicating the purpose of signing out. If you are signing out for a break such as Thanksgiving Break, you need to complete the form as well. If you are not going back home, your parent or guardian should explain where you will be during the break to Mrs.Rossi.

25 Host family program: The Pennington School s Host International Program (HIP) matches international students with families of current Pennington day students. International students who participate in the program do not live with their host families; instead, they and their hosts participate in various activities together when school is in session.

26 Places to shop 1. Campus Store: Located in the Campus Center, where you can buy School shirts, sweaters, and pants, as well as general school supplies such as graphing calculators, pens/pencils, erasers. You can also find your own mailbox right next to the Campus Store.

27 Places to shop 2. Pennington Quality Market: Only 5 minutes walk from the Pennington campus, a perfect place to buy daily necessities such as fresh fruits, vegetables, snacks.

28 Places to shop 3. Princeton: Also the location of Princeton University. Great place to hang out with your friends over the weekend, lots of restaurants as well as shops.

33 More restaurants... Just in case you are wondering, Pennington does have restaurants such as Burger King, an Italian restaurant Camillo s, a local restaurant Emily s, as well as ice cream places like Rita s.

34 What if I ordered something online? Boarding students are always welcome to do online shopping. You will receive a paper notification in your mailbox located in the Campus Center. Mrs. Moore will be responsible for receiving your packages. However, you may not order any form of medicine online without the nurse s permission.

35 Laundry Service If you would like to wash your clothes on campus: If you would like to choose the laundry service: Boys dorms have their own washing machines on each floor, but girls only have one big laundry room located in the basement of Old Main. The Pennington School does offer laundry service (All Prep Laundry) for your convenience. It is charged annually and you pay the fee at the beginning of the year. It costs $0.75 (3 quarters) for washing and $0.75 (3 quarters) for drying. The company will collect your clothes bags Monday and return them to you on Sunday. There is a dry cleaner near PQM if you want to wash or dry clean your formal dress, sweater, winter jacket, etc. There is more information provided on the School website if you have any other questions.
