QLD Premier Cricket 2018/19 Season Structure & Schedule Male Update
Premier Cricket Committee Priorities Taken from the QLD Premier Cricket Strategy and the Premier Club recommendations paper, the Premier Cricket Committee has outlined the following 3 focus areas: Rigorous and well-defined male competitions identified in the strategy as enhancement and promotion of the state s leading competition Growth in the female game identified in the strategy as Sustainable Participation Growth Infrastructure & Facilities identified in the strategy as High Quality Wickets and Grounds. Note: An area already covered in detail by QC Staff, with QLD Infrastructure Strategy to be released in the 2018/19 season and Curatorial Assistance Program involving 7 BCC clubs being implemented.
Male Competitions Defined male competition structure, with club alignment and the concept of the best of the best Clear pathway for youth players to traverse into Premier Cricket: - Lord s Taverners Under-16 competition - Third/Fourth Grade - Second/First Grade The Premier Cricket Committee considers that these Grades makeup the defined structure that needs to be enhanced and promoted as the State s leading male competition (currently 11 of the 12 clubs have all these teams)
Male Competitions (cont.) Committee has decided that only single club nominations will be accepted in these particular Grades. This establishes a bye (max trial period 2 years) in Third and Fourth Grade, with the addition of a separate T20 competition in January to maintain the volume of cricket in the competition. During this period of 2 years, QLD Cricket will conduct a review of Sunshine Coast, Ipswich & Gold Coast team nominations and provide long-term recommendations for the ideal Male Grade structure within each local region Fifth and Sixth Grade remains an integral part of the QLD Premier Cricket competition, with a more community orientated approach that meets the demand of club members and participants in the Brisbane metropolitan region (9 of the 12 Premier clubs). Double nominations will be accepted in these competitions. No Under-18 competitions or half-season competitions to be introduced

Season begins with separate One Day Competition (3 fixtures). Top-8 teams will progress to Quarter Finals Start of Two-Day competition in late September, with some Saturday/Sunday fixtures targeted at representative player availability. Dukes Balls to be utilized in Rounds after Christmas. In line with launch of National Premier T20 Championship and Futures League T20 weekend, there will be a greater emphasis on this format. The Top-4 will progress through to a Semi-Finals. Each club will play each other once in red ball and once in either One Day/T20. Aside from the launch weekend, there has been a focus to have 1 fixture per day (Second Grade AM/First Grade PM). This allows for the majority of the T20 competition to be played on the main oval at each club and will provide a more even amount of home games than in previous T20 competitions. Rivalry Round will again be included within the First and Second Grade T20 competition, with the plan to align this date with Brisbane Heat player availability The Men s First and Second Grade T20 Finals will align with the Women s First Grade T20 Final, as well as the final for the separate T20 competition in Third/Fourth Grade.

Third & Fourth Grade (cont.) Same volume of cricket offered as previous years (8 x 2 day and 6 x one day rounds) With a minimum of 2 days of T20 competition to replace the two days missed during a bye. Fixtures will be structured round an equitable bye using the one day matches aligned to Saturday/Sunday cricket in First and Second Grade. - 8 clubs will miss a 2-day round, but play all 6 one-dayers - 3 clubs will miss 2 x one day rounds, but will play all 2-day rounds The January T20 Competition will be one standalone event and not a separate Third and Fourth Grade competition. All Premier Clubs will be invited to engage in this competition, with a minimum of 20 teams required. Aside from the regular players in these grades, this comp should allow clubs to engage past players as well as offer more flexible competition opportunities to members. Also with First and Second Grade playing T20s on the same Ovals at this time, this competition will have access to the top ovals at the other 6 clubs. Sunday 27 th January will be a Premier Cricket T20 Finals Day, with the following: - January T20 Competition Final, 10AM start at an allocated venue near Allan Border Field - Men s Second Grade T20 Final, 10AM start at an allocated venue near Allan Border Field - Women s First Grade T20 Final, 10AM start at Allan Border Field - Men s First Grade T20 Final, 2.30PM start at Allan Border Field (all finals and trophies presented at Allan Border Field at conclusion of Tom Veivers Cup)
Fifth & Sixth Grade Same volume of cricket as previous season, with the option for players to be involved in the January T20 Competition Double nominations will be accepted in these competitions and this will be finalized with interested clubs shortly.

Will be broken into two zones with 7 teams (like Shane Watson Cup last year). Play everyone in your zone once and then have 4 x cross zone matches, so as to maintain nearly the same volume of cricket as previous years The Top-2 from each zone will progress to a Semi-Final. 30 th September and 4 th November have been allocated as weekends off. This decision takes into account a school holiday period in September, but also when Sunday cricket in other higher competitions stretches resources (Sat/Sun First and Second Grade two-dayers plus Women s cricket). These weekends off, also help alleviate the strain of some additional travel. QLD Cricket will work with clubs on a case-by-case basis for the fixtures against Wide Bay that require travel
QLD Premier Cricket 2018/19 Season Structure & Schedule Female Update
Premier Cricket Committee Priorities Taken from the QLD Premier Cricket Strategy and the Premier Club recommendations paper, the Premier Cricket Committee has outlined the following 3 focus areas: Rigorous and well-defined male competitions identified in the strategy as enhancement and promotion of the state s leading competition Growth in the female game identified in the strategy as Sustainable Participation Growth Infrastructure & Facilities identified in the strategy as High Quality Wickets and Grounds. Note: An area already covered in detail by QC Staff, with QLD Infrastructure Strategy to be released in 2018/19 season and Curatorial Assistance Program involving 7 BCC clubs being implemented.
Female Competition Priorities Increased volume of cricket for First & Second Grade. Continued promotion of the female game With recent strengthening of the number of teams in Jodie Fields Shield and now Katherine Raymont Shield, the focus is further development of junior girls/youth cricket so as to create a better transition into senior cricket. For Premier Cricket clubs this is available through engaging with the Paul Pink Shield

Katherine Raymont Shield 6 Team competition, with inclusion of Ipswich/Logan Significant increase in the volume of cricket played (15 x One Dayers and 10 x T20s). Plus additional matches scheduled by High Performance to support QLD Fire training Whilst not in a completely blocked schedule, T20 fixtures are scheduled to allow some lead into the WBBL but then stop so as to align with the other T20 competitions. T20 Competition will include an Elimination Final (2 nd Vs 3 rd ), with the winner to play 1st in the Final The One Day Competition will include a Top-4 Semi Final structure
Jodie Fields Shield 10 team competition Increase in volume of cricket by 2 x one-dayers. With 14 x One Dayers and 4 x T20s (2 weekends), each team will play each other twice. Similar to last year, there will be a slightly longer break over Christmas to allow for Youth Girls Competition (Paul Pink Shield) and alleviate any issues around player availability during WBBL. Top-4 will progress to Semi Finals
Youth Girls Comp (Paul Pink Shield) Nominations still to be finalized, but would hope for growth on last season (6 Premier Clubs and an Invitational side) Four weekends of cricket, incorporating night games at Chelmer again Only 1 weekend clashes with the Jodie Fields Shield
