3 EMERGING TIGERS PROGRAM What is the Emerging Tigers Program? - The Emerging Tigers Program is Cricket Tasmania s major male youth talent identification program. Its purpose is to identify the best cricketers, give them access to skill development, and to provide an opportunity to showcase their skills against other players from across the state. What are the Age Groups? - Under 13s - Under 14s - Under 16s How have you been nominated to take part? - By your club coaches & JDO s at the end of last season - Previous selection in final Emerging Tigers teams - Personal performances - Identified has having skill attributes in various areas 3

4 EMERGING TIGERS CONT. When are the Commonwealth Bank Intrastate Cup s on? - Under 14s from Monday 16 th to Thursday 19 th January on the North West Coast. - Under 13s & Under 16s from Monday 23 rd to Thursday 26 th January in and around Hobart. What s involved? - Under 13s & 14s play a combination of 1-day games and T20 games. Players will need to find their own accommodation and travel arrangements this season. Lunch provided for all players each day. - Under 16s play 1-day games only. Accommodation (at UTAS in Sandy Bay) and travel to and from the games from the Accommodation is provided. All meals provided from lunch on day to lunch on day 4. - All players receive a NW Lightning playing shirt and cap to keep. Coloured trousers are provided and returned at completion of tournament. - Small fee for all players selected in Final teams. 4

The Selection Process - Each age group to commence trials in September with a combination of centre wicket sessions and nets sessions. - Squads to be trimmed down throughout the program. - Coaches to select Final squads of 12 players and named in late November/early December. - Final squads to prepare for tournaments with practice matches and training sessions. - All squad announcements to be made via our regional website: and with links from our Cricket Tasmania North West Facebook page. - Parents will need to sign and return permission and talent release forms. Online payment of fees preferred. 5

6 EMERGING ROAR PROGRAM What is the Emerging Tigers Program? - The Emerging Roar Program is Cricket Tasmania s major female youth talent identification program. Its purpose is to identify the best cricketers, give them access to skill development, and to provide an opportunity to showcase their skills against other players from across the state. What are the Age Groups? - Under 14s - Under 18s How have you been nominated to take part? - By your club coaches & JDO s at the end of last season - Previous selection in Emerging Roar teams - Personal performances - Identified has having skill attributes in various areas - Involvement in NW Female Youth Winter program - MILO T20 Blast School Cups 6

When are the Commonwealth Bank Intrastate Cup s on? - Under 18s from Monday 9 th to Thursday 12 th January in and around Launceston. - Under 14s Tuesday 31 st January to Friday 3 rd February on the North West Coast. What s involved? - Both age groups play a combination of 1-day games and T20 games. - Accommodation (Scotch Oakburn), meals & transport to and from games will be provided for Under 18 Players whilst Under 14 players will need to find their own accommodation and travel arrangements this season. Lunch provided for all players each day. - All players receive a NW Lightning playing shirt and cap to keep. Coloured trousers are provided and returned at completion of tournament. - Small fee for all players selected in Final teams. 7

9 PARENT & PLAYER EXPECTATIONS - Players come to each session prepared to learn, try their best & be challenged. - Players bring their equipment and wear club or school playing/training shirt to each session. - Coaches will make sure each player gets a chance to showcase their skills and provide an environment that is safe and inclusive. - Parents to contact RCM or Coaches if their child is unavailable for a session. - During the matches, parents are requested to keep their interaction with their child at a minimum as they will be under the guidance of their coaching staff. - Players, parents, supporters & coaches will be given a copy of the Code of Conduct for the tournaments in the lead up. 9

10 COACHING EXPECTATIONS - Coaches are asked to adopt and be ambassadors for the Australian Way. Tell them what to do, not how to do it. - Players will be challenged in a range of different game situations whether it be in the middle or in the nets. - Coaches will place a huge emphasis on fielding in particular throwing and catching. Players will be tested on their throwing skills throughout the program. - Development of the individual players is more important than winning. - Should a coach be unavailable for a session, they will contact RCM who will make adjustments where appropriate. - 2 coaches appointed to each team. All coaches will be accredited and carry current WWVC cards. 10
