In particular, the Under16 WHITE team is performing up to expectations and is perched on top of the ladder although this Friday evening s clash with our U16 Red team will certainly see them challenged. It would be great to see lots of families and also senior players at the game pm at Wendouree Turf. Across the Junior grades, some of the fine individual performances in recent weeks are detailed as follows Jackson Ndhlovu 4 for 14, TJ Cleary 52, Brock Reid 5/18 and 3/14, Loris Bayley 50 n.o., James Richardson 55 n.o., Tristan Maple 79 n.o. and 3/17, Jonte Jarred 48, Jack Richards 53, Zack Maple 47, Seamus Murphy-McKay 48, Logan Clark 53, Darcy Aitken 3/19, Charlie Stepnell 48, Noah Hildebrand 52. Well done to each and every junior player on your efforts to date. It should also be noted and acknowledged that we have a number of under age players representing senior teams each week. This is not to make up the numbers. These boys are chosen to play in the senior teams because they are capable of doing so and the club has a strong belief that our junior lads need to play with our senior players to assist in their development and understanding of the game. The senior teams really enjoy having the youngsters playing with them.

2 Christmas BBQ Juniors This Friday evening after the Junior T20 games finish there will be a BBQ back at the Club Rooms for all juniors and parents. Please come back and enjoy a sausage and celebrate the first half of the season with us. Seniors Saturday (16/12) after our games, we have the annual Christmas BBQ at the Royal Oak Hotel. Tom Le Lievre s Maiden Ton An outstanding individual highlight among our senior teams in recent weeks was the effort of Tom Le Leivre (Tom s maiden 1 st XI ton) and 6/52 in the match against Darley. Club statistician Jeff Hussey is busily searching our records to confirm that this is the first time in the club s history that a First eleven player has achieved this double. Well done Tom a mighty effort. John and Karen at The Oak have been tremendous supporters of the club for many years so if possible please call in for an hour or two and enjoy the convivial surroundings. Santa won t be in attendance but apparently three of his reindeers will be!

3 Girls Cricket Our U13 girls cricket teams continue to go from strength to strength. We have 2 teams playing on Friday nights in the BCA All Girls competition at Vic Park. We now have 18 girls playing in the 2 teams. The girls are really enjoying themselves and their skills are improving each week. 4 Big Bash Trip The annual trip to the Big Bash is on again on Sunday 23 rd December. See the club website for all the details and reserve your seat on the bus using the Team App. Juniors can use their Renegades membership to get in, parents and siblings will need to buy a General Admission ticket for the game. Senior Achievements Some recent excellent performances include Heath Pyke 119, Matt Hoy 99, Cole Roscholler 98, Ben Evans 6/39, Angus Cocking 55, Rian Potter 67 and Under 16 player Cooper Andrews who took 4 wickets in the 3 rd XI. Our Senior XI commenced its 20/20 campaign recently with a dominant win against Golden Point and this week travel to Darley for the second round of the competition.

5 Father, Daughter & Son-in-law History was made on Saturday 18th November when John Penhall, his daughter Lauren Potter and Lauren's husband Rian Potter all lined up together in the Wendouree Cricket Club 5th XI at Mt Pleasant Reserve. We believe tis was a first in cricket anywhere in Australia. Wendouree have always encouraged and facilitated fathers and sons playing together whenever possible, but this was a very special day for all involved. John and Rian both batted together with Lauren and all showed their fine skills with the bat and ball. The game was abandoned when a torrential downpour hit with Wendouree well on top and only the rain preventing a win.

6 Farewell Jackson Sportsman s Night Our recent sportsman s evening with Jason Gillespie, Shaun Tait and Angus McFangus was a most enjoyable occasion. Well done to President Max, and sidekicks Woody and Jake Pinehall for their organization of the event. Can someone please pass me a soup spoon?? After spending Term 4 at Ballarat Grammar on exchange from Stanford Lake College in South Africa, Jackson Ndhlovu says goodbye to The Redcaps. Jackson was embraced by the club and played games with our U16 White team and also in our 2 nd, 3 rd & 5 th XI. We hope Jackson will return to Australia and Wendouree some day in the future. This kid has a bright future in cricket and we are proud to have had him as part of our club.

7 Redcaps Christmas Donations WCC have initiated a Christmas drive to collect donations for Child and Family Services (CAFS) to distribute to families less fortunate than our own in Ballarat this Christmas. As part of this community engagement we have asked CAFS staff to talk to our juniors at training this week about what Christmas will be like for children in care and families less fortunate than our own. Participation in this initiative is of course voluntary. Wendouree Cricket Club believes strongly in community awareness and involvement with development of a greater sense of perspective and responsibility. We thought that this would be a meaningful and engaging way for our juniors to improve their community awareness, compassion and a great sense of satisfaction in giving this Christmas. Child & Family Services Ballarat (CAFS) is a not-for-profit charity that provides a range of programs for children, young people and families in need. This includes out-of-home care for children, family violence services, homelessness, programs for men, financial counselling, and community development programs. With more than 250 staff and volunteers, its team works across Ballarat and the broader regions with offices also in Bacchus Marsh, Daylesford and Ararat. There are many ways that we can assist CAFS to help the community of Ballarat but we have picked three ways: Donation of Christmas gifts for children of all ages Donation of contents for first night backpacks Financial donations Christmas gifts On Friday night at our Christmas break up BBQ we will have a Christmas tree under which donations can be left. They can be wrapped or not. If wrapped please but a label on the outside identifying which children would enjoy your gift most (boy, girl and age). We have a army of WCC Christmas elves who are happy to wrap donations also. A few ideas include: Vouchers for a swim Sporting gear: Tennis balls, footballs, soccer balls, backyard cricket gear JB vouchers EB games vouchers Vouchers for the movies Games T shirts Financial donations If you would prefer to donate a few spare coins we will have colleting tins at the BBQ on Friday night, or if you would like to donate another way, we can facilitate that also. We appreciate your time to consider this initiative and we look forward to seeing lots of players and parents at the BBQ on Friday night.

8 350 Game Milestone We have it on good authority that there may be a young bloke playing his 350 th game for the club this Saturday up at Vic Park #9 The Home of Cricket. If you have a spare hour on Saturday afternoon, call past Vic Park and help celebrate this achievement. More details in the next edition of.
