2 THIS IS AN EVENT FOR RECREATIONAL BOYS, GIRLS & ADULTS GYMNASTICS SOUTH AUSTRALIA Gym for All GYM CHALLENGE Mission Statement The mission of the Gym For All Challenge is to offer all gymnasts regardless of age or ability the opportunity to experience the diverse benefits of competitive Gymnastics Goals The goals of the are to develop and nurture the gymnasts in a safe environment striving for the following: FUN FRIENDSHIP FUNDAMENTALS CONFIDENCE FITNESS PERFORMANCE Summary of the Event This event is an apparatus event. Levels 1 5 will be a team event (one score per team per apparatus) and Level 6 and above will be an individual event unless competing in Advanced Team Gym. Gymnasts may enter up to 7 events and apparatus awards will be awarded. It is proposed that after the entries are received the Levels will be aged group for Level 6 and above and Level 1-5 will to grouped, appropriate to the number of entries received. The apparatus is optional for boys and girls ie girls may perform on P bars and rings. Clubs will decide on the appropriate level for their gymnasts and there will be no formal badge testing requirements. All clubs with recreational gymnasts in their programs are encouraged to enter this event. 3 Gym for All GYM CHALLENGE GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Gymnasts should wear apparel that reflects their clubs colours. Females may wear leotards, bike pants or crop tops & pants. Males & Females may compete in t-shirt & shorts. 2. All clubs entering the event will be required to supply two trained judges for the event. (contact GSA Office regarding any further training) 3. Clubs will also be rostered to supply competition personnel to assist with the smooth running of the event. 4. Skills will be judged on the General Table of Faults 5. Awards will be made for apparatus only there will be no overall results. All gymnasts will receive a participation certificate 6. Equipment requirements: clubs should note on the entry form if accessory equipment is required 7. Entry fee for the event will be $4.50 (incl GST) per apparatus up to a maximum $25.00 (7 apparatus). 8. Training event for Judges and Coaches will be held on request from the clubs. This will be a free updating event for both coaches and judges and can be held in your club. A free DVD will be posted to all clubs to view the new concept for Levels 1-4. Level 6 and above 1. is specifically designed for Recreational gymnasts. There is Level Six plus an open age (Masters Level 7) and open ability (All Stars Level 8) section 2. Gymnasts may enter a minimum of one to a maximum of six apparatus but must enter the same level for all apparatus 3. A gymnast must perform at least 5 skills per apparatus. Each skill is judged out of a possible 2 marks = total 10 points for each routine. Only the 5 nominated skills will be assessed. 4. Age groups will be determined upon receipt of entries. Age is determined on the year of birth. Where there are a large number of gymnasts born in the same year, they may be randomly divided into equal groups for presentations 5. Clubs will be asked to complete a routine skill list to assist the judges in their task. Open section will be 5 optional skills per apparatus. These skills may or may not come from the suggested skill listing. Skill lists must be presented to the judges prior to competing. The five skills should be different unless stated in the list of skills. A repeated skill will not be judged or counted in the five skills. 6. Ribbons 1 st 6 th place will be awarded for each Level and age grouping 3

4 Level 1 5 General All gymnasts will receive a wrist band with a number. All members of a team will be scanned prior to competing on each apparatus. This will establish the team for that particular apparatus. On completion of the routine, the judge will scan the score into the scoring program. 1. Level 1-5 gymnasts will compete as a team. There will be no age groups in these levels. If there are more than 10 teams in one level, teams will be randomly placed into divisions. 2. Team sizes will be from 3 8 participants in one team. One gymnast from a higher level will be permitted to fill a team in a lower level. There is no limit to gymnasts who need to go up a level to complete a team 3. Gymnasts must remain in the same team for the entire event 4. Team members must all complete at least 5 skills each, however the whole team does not have to compete on all apparatus. At least 3 participants must perform. 5. Beam / P bars / Bars / Rings & Tramp : Team members may perform singularly on an apparatus (tag team) or with more than one on the apparatus at a time 6. The team will be judged on 5 different skills only. These skills should be nominated on the Judges Skill Sheet. There will be one score for the team. 7. Trampoline : as only one person can be on the trampoline at one time, this apparatus will be done in tag team. 8. Judging for the above apparatus will be 5 points for execution of skills and 5 points for composition (were the required number of skills present?) 9. Vault / Mini Tramp / Tumbling : teams will perform two passes. Each member of the team jumps / tumbles and waits at the side of the apparatus for the rest of the team to finish and then they all march or use some other form of locomotion and return to the start of the run to execute the second pass. The team may change order and vault set up at this point. Teams should try to perform in increasing difficulty. Each pass will be judged out of Floor all members of the team must participate in the floor routine. Music is optional. All requirements of the floor routine must be performed. Awards 1 st 6th ribbons / 7 th 10 th certificates will be presented to the teams. This is an apparatus competition and no overall or individual awards will be presented. Each participant will receive a participation certificate. 4

The same vault maybe performed twice. - Teams should using Streaming and Intensity - Team members should wait at the vault for all athletes to pass and march back together. So long as all team members complete all requirements. TUMBLING: - Consists of two passes by each team. A pass consists of two or more skills performed in a sequence. - Tumbling runs are in one direction. - Each pass should consist of at least half of the team members (min. 4 members) Each pass can contain different team members. - Gymnasts should commence their pass as the person before them completes their second skill. (Streaming) - Skills should become progressively more difficult with each person (Intensity) - Locomotion between each pass will be judged Skills should be selected from the below list: 10

MASTERS: (level 7) (Open Age) 20 years and over must have retired from competitive gymnastics for two years. ALL STARS: (level 8) (Open ability) It is an opportunity for retired gymnasts or transferring National Levels gymnasts to compete at their particular level. 5 skills to be performed on each apparatus. These skills may come from the compulsory listing above or not. A skill sheet must be presented to the Judges prior to competing. Suggested skills below. Mini tramp and Tumbling consist of two passes only. Tumbling at least two skills in each pass. 13

18 Competition Entry Form PLEASE USE GSA ENTRY FORM ON THE WEBSITE : ENTRY FEE: INDIVIDUAL Artistic including Acrobatic Gymnastics Entry fee for the event will be $4.50 (incl GST) per apparatus up to a maximum $25.00 (7 apparatus) ENTRY FEE: WHEEL GYMNASTICS Entry fee for the event will be $6.00 (incl GST) per individual, $10 per pair, $15.00 per trios SEND NO MONEY NOW! Clubs will be invoiced after the competition for the number of gymnasts entered into the event. No entries will be received on the day of the competition. Competition Program Level 6 8 Individual, Team Gym, Wheel Gymnastics will be held on Saturday afternoon Level 1-5 team events will be held on Sunday of the programmed weekend. Team Gym: NSWGA Team Gym Overview. Team Gym will be in operation for Tumbling, Mini tramp and Floor Routines. Teams wishing to compete in NSW should note the specific rules for this event, which GSA GfA Challenge is a modification of the NSW rules. 18

19 Overview of NSW Team Gym: Team Size 6-12 Participants Only a mixed team competition will be held Recommended that teams wear the same uniform (Not Compulsory) Levels will be Novice, Intermediate, Advanced as per GymNSW Guidelines, Teams must compete in only one Level (Difficulty). Teams do not have to compete in all apparatus but must advise the competition organiser prior to the event being held. Music is as per GymNSW manual & is compulsory for Floor and Tumbling. Overall and apparatus awards will be presented at the completion of the Session and scores will be made available to coaches after the event. Skills should be appropriate and competent at the level of competition. 19
