2 I am sure glad I like changes because they keep coming from every direction. Some are still in the making, especially from International Good Sam Club. From now on OGS will, with templates from GSC, be able to make their own Chapter Anniversary Certificates, do their own Chapter Chartering and De-Chartering and make other decisions. Gene, our Gen-X webmaster, is ready to set up each of your Chapter sections on our website, All you need to do is choose a login/password, let me know what it is (I know how to keep a secret) and Gene will get you ready to begin. Larry and I spent April camped at the Douglas County Fairgrounds RV Park. Some of the things we accomplished during those three days were: 1. Meeting with the Eugene Sojourners going through the Book Crafts they will be helping you make at the Rally. Come prepared to pick one or more out to make. They will have all the supplies you need. The crafts are really neat. 2. Attending one of the largest quilt shows in Oregon sponsored by the Umpqua Quilt Guild in Roseburg. I took lots of photos while there. 3. Visiting with the Douglas County Historical Museum situated next to the Fairgrounds. I talked to them about setting up a special time we could go together to visit. I found out it is best if each of you visit the Museum on your own. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 5. The cost for seniors is $5 each. You might even do it as a Chapter group. 4. I met with the Sutherlin Area Chamber of Commerce Director and others to help me finish up the Vendor Fair participant list at this year s Rally. There will be lots of things to see, learn and buy at our Fair this year. HINT One of them is an electric bike. 5. And last but not least, we took our BIG banner back to the Fairgrounds for them to put up on the back of the grandstand where everyone who drives down I-5 will see OREGON GOOD SAM RV RALLY, JUNE They will know we are there. 6. We spent our first over 70 degrees day there..we are ready for summer. Please remember to start gathering together the food items you will donate to our Food Drive at the Rally and the camping items we will donate to the Fun & Food Night Duck Pond Game. See page 3 & 5 for more information. Also if you are a quilter, please remember to bring your latest quilt projects to our Show & Tell at the Rally. I was looking for a jigsaw puzzle that had something to do with a library. I really didn t think I would find one BUT I did. You will enjoy it. I don t want to say the next sentence but the hand writing on the wall is starting to be seen and it is scary. All I can say is Please make me happy by sending in your Rally registration forms right away. I try to keep everything on the positive but if we can t keep up our Rally attendance it might go away. I don t want to see that happen but it is a possibility that is getting closer and closer. Please think hard about skipping it. Love you all, Karen 2
3 The 2017 Country Cuzzins Rendezvous has been moved to Wild Horse RV Park in Pendleton The reason for the change is because EOTEC construction is behind schedule. They now are offering only dry camping on asphalt with no electricity. After canvasing the members of the five Eastern Oregon Chapters it was decided to find another venue for this Regional Campout this year. Those already registered will have their fees refunded. Wild Horse RV Park will provide us with amp back-in sites and 5-50 amp pull-through sites next to the Event Area on the SE corner of the park. Reservations for the RV sites are on an individual basis, with each camper calling in to reserve and pay for their own site. Also a 20x40 Wall Tent will be set up with 6 8 ft. tables and 48 chairs provided. The phone number for Wild Horse is or If you have any other questions, please call Randy Wells at Unbelievable Facts A dime has 118 ridges around the edge A dragonfly has a life span of 24 hours A crocodile cannot stick out its tongue Almonds are a member of the peach family Butterflies taste with their feet It s impossible to sneeze with your eyes open In the last 4,000 years, no new animals have been domesticated Dreamt is the only English word that ends in the letters mt Babies are born without knee-caps They do not appear until the child reaches 2 to 6 years of age DUCK POND GAME at OGS RALLY There are some changes in the Fun Night Duck Pond Game. We would like to have a larger variety of prizes to offer and are asking for donated items. Items needed are those that pertain to camping or outdoor activities and can be used on RV trips. Items may be large or small, used inside or out. Use your imagination! Thank you for your support. Please bring items to the Rally (Samboree) Office in Roseburg. If you have questions please contact John Willhoite, President, Rim Rock Recs at john57w@msn.com. Cats have over one hundred vocal sounds dogs only have about ten All fifty states are listed across the top of the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the five dollar bill A snail can sleep for three years 3
4 DON T FORGET TO ADD THE WY-EAST POW WOW TO YOUR SUMMER CAMPING PLANS August 4-6, 2017 This year there will be a couple of golf carts available to help transport you around the fairgrounds. We are planning crafts, seminars, tournaments (pinochle, cribbage, marshmallow golf, bean bag baseball, cornhole, etc.) plenty of yummy food and lots of opportunity for hanging out with both old and new friends. Bring the kids. (What is marshmallow golf?) This page is the registration form. You can also find it on the website ( 4

Terry Parman ( or ) Just a reminder to chapter Presidents, we need chapter participation in the Saturday Night Show. Chapters do such a great job presenting skits that fit the theme. Take any children s book and use it as your inspiration such as Little Red Riding Hood or The 3 Pigs. Or adult Folklore such as Davy Crockett and Paul Bunyan. Mysteries like Sherlock Holmes and tall tales such as Casey Jones or Annie Oakley. Also you can get ideas from collections of TV shows, movies, comedians. A speech from a famous character in history. Just about every idea can be found in the library. And, I have some ideas too. Call me for support. Put on your thinking caps as there is just about 4 weeks left to decide and then a few weeks to have some practice time. I will see you at the Westerners Round-Up. 9 ATTENTION: ALL VETERANS We are going to honor all our veterans at the rally in Roseburg june 21-25, 2017 We are building a list of our Oregon Good Sam Veterans. I was asking all Chapter Secretaries to PLEASE send me a list of the veterans in your chapter before the end of the year. Also if we knew where they served, which war, date served that would be helpful. Thank you for helping me. We have 200 Veterans listed so far. As a member of the Good Sam Club, I pledge to give aide to others in need, respect nature and the environment, give back to the community and those less fortunate, treat others with dignity and respect, wear a smile (like Good Sam & Good Samantha s) and promote the pledge of The Good Sam Club to others. THE GOOD SAM CLUB PLEDGE Did you know During the production of a 20-year plan for Oregon State Parks in 1956, the Park attendance projection for 1976 was 15 million. The actual number in 1976 was 30.9 million. In 2016, the number of daytime visitors/campers was 52 million! We love our State Parks!!! 9
