4 SEPTEMBER 2013 Page 4 Hello Moose Family, Well somehow we made in through Mountain Festival and all the activities! Thanks to all the people who made goodies for our Bake Sale. It was absolutely awesome. We made some money for our charities and we had a good time. It has been a busy month! I lost a good friend and Moose Member, Roberta. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. June and I are going to the Cal-NEV convention Sept 5-8 in Reno. We will represent our Lodge...we need representation. We will soon be having a Green Cap Ceremony for Annie Crawshaw. At the time of this writing, the date has not yet been set. Thanks for supporting our Lodge. Your Senior Regent Cynthia Gassaway Thanks seems like such a small word to express our appreciation for all the offers and help we received during our recent Friday Mountain Festival dinner and raffle fundraising event. First and foremost to all the members of both the College of Regents Committee and the Star Recorder Committees. These ladies have all worked for many years to attain their respective degrees and have donated countless hours to our chapter and lodge. They are as follows: Star Recorder Committee members - Jane Welden, Joyce Stowers, Glenna Longcrier, Annie Crawshaw, & Phyllis Fisher. College of Regent members - Grace Chapman, Phyllis Fisher, Kathy Hall, Barbara Hayes, Elaine Hutchins, Sylvia Lacey, Glenna Longcrier, Susan Myers, Pat Phelps, Jane Welden and Theresa Zalewski. Thank you for your help with this fundraiser as well as all your time and effort over the years. Also a big thank you to Frankie Wysocki, Star Recorder and Collegeian from Stockdale Chapter for all the help selling raffle tickets. Now on to our board of officers: Cindy Gassaway, Annie Crawshaw, Ginger Barkulis, Tillie Mattern, June Reick and Mari Goodman., as well as both of our bartenders: Kathy Lilly and Sue Myers and the members of our chapter that are not on our committee or responsible in any way to see that this was a success: Lynne Freeman, Vickie Minkler, Julie Sturm, Ruth Bewick, Jessica Moffett, Ellen Hayes. Other kitchen volunteers included Ryan Bewick, Jane Larsen, our delightful server, Sara-Ann Aguilar, Administrator John Wilson, Prelate Kevin Carter & Governor Jesse Lilly. To say thank you is not nearly enough! Ryan and Jane worked tirelessly in the kitchen from early afternoon through 9 o clock that evening. Our potato peeling buddies were awesome, our special thanks to Lynne, Vickie and Ginger for making it a fun time. John and Glenna, I was in a panic on Thursday evening, without the two of you and Jessica and Phyllis, I would never have gotten 75 lbs. of roast in the ovens. All in all what a wonderful experience. For all the raffle prize donations from Kmart, Tim Sturm and all the ladies who donated items, our sincere thanks. My last thank you is to all of the terrific members of our chapter and lodge, guests and (Yay! Reseda) who participated in our Friday night Mountain Festival celebration. To anyone I may have missed, my deepest apologies. As you can see, teamwork and a common goal are what it it all about to keep our lodge and chapter going. We could not have done it without any of you! Many, many thanks, Phyllis Fisher, Star Recorder Chairman Pat Phelps, College of Regents Chairman We have a lot of members who do Community Service, and I would really appreciate it if you wonderful folks would give me your approximate hours and mileage each month as our Chapter receives credit for your service. Thank you so much! June Reick, Recorder

7 SEPTEMBER 2013 Page 7 ADMINISTRATOR S CORNER My Fellow Lodge Members, We, the Board, are still in the process of selecting a realtor. We are still hopeful that the sale of Lodge Building doesn t have to happen if we can get the MEMBERSHIP to support their Lodge. If you have any suggestions for functions that you would like to see here, please let the Board know. Let s make this month a good one...come in and enjoy yourselves at the many functions. Mountain Festival went GREAT for both the WOTM and the LOOM. The bands were enjoyed by everyone, and we saw a lot of the members who have been away. The main raffle prizes from the WOTM: the Smoker, was won by Al Martin, and the live PIG, was won by John Wilson,( Bar - B - Q anyone?) The TV was also won by John Wilson, now I can replace my old TUBE TYPE TV!! John P. Wilson Administrator Hello Members, Well another month is coming to an end and what a busy one it has been. Mt Festival has come and gone, so I would like to thank everyone who pitched in helping out, from set-up to cooking to clean up, thank you all again. I would also like to thank our bartenders for dealing with the mad house. Thank you to all who supported both the men and Women's dinner, both events did well. win at Queen of Hearts, you must be present, the drawing will be done on Thursday Nights. Starting this month, on Sundays during football, I will be doing "Bucket of wings" so come in watch the game, have a few drinks and some wings. Don't forget, John and Glenna will be doing Taco Tuesday on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday. Come on in and get these tasty taco's. To all members who know the "stealing" game between lodges; Reseda Moose Lodge struck again over Mt Festival weekend!!! On another note: due to some complaints regarding the specials on Thursday night, we will no longer take phone orders as some are upset that they wait in line for one & can not get it because of a call in order. I am sorry to have to do this but it is only fair to everyone. I will try my best to make at least meals. I know it's still warm outside but the cold will soon be here. Please don't let that stop you from supporting your lodge. We are considering a new game at the lodge: The Daily Draw Number. Every day when the bartender opens, she will pick a number from 0-9 and write it down on a board,so have your membership card out when you come in, if the last number matches the daily number, your 3rd drink is on us. If you don't have your card out and the bartender has to ask for it, you then lose your chance to win. Another game we are contemplating is called "The Queen of Hearts". Rules for the game will be posted at lodge. If we change to this game, we will be doing away with the member sign in sheet. In order to I know this has been said a dozen times or more but please support your lodge so that we can keep it going. I would like send a speedy recovery to John Grenek, wish him the best. I would also like to give my condolences to the Hayes family and the family of Roberta Foster in their time of loss. Also a speedy recovery to Annie Crawshaw and Sam White. Thank you to all the volunteers who continue to help cook on Thursday & Sunday. Let's keep our lodge going!!! Thank you all, Your Governor, Jesse Lilly

8 SEPTEMBER 2013 Page 8 AROUND THE LODGE Hi everyone, What a great Mountain Festival!!! If you were not there, you will never know what you missed. If you were there, every one will remind you of what a great time you had, even if you don t remember the circumstances. From a Community Service viewpoint it could not have been better. As I stated last month the selling of the 50 th Anniversary edition of the Mountain Festival Goodtime Badges is one of our largest fundraising efforts and we could use all the help we could get. To say we were successful would be an understatement. We sold the last 2013 Mountain Festival Badge about 10:40 on Sunday morning during the Annual Mountain Thunder Car Show. Our selling partner s, the Tehachapi Booster Club sold out the last of their commitment during the Farmer s Market on Thursday evening. While I was not around the Lodge as much as I would have liked, when I was everyone was having a good time and everyone was pitching in to make the weekend activities easier for everyone. I want to say thank you to everyone who stepped up and took up the slack without being ask or when anyone said need a little help here. As the Chairman of the Community Service Committee, I owe and send a lot of BIG THANK YOU S to everyone that bought one or more Goodtime Badges, the Bar Stewarts for pushing them, while handling their own duties; The Tehachapi Boosters Club, some of which are also Moose Members; Badge sellers Cindy Gassaway, June Reick; Joyce Burke, Shannon Jones and anyone else I may have missed. My BIGGEST THANK YOU goes to Community Service Committee member Lee Aragon, who sold 804 Mountain Festival Badges; which is well above the 698 he sold last year. Next time you see Lee be sure and thank him for all of his effort on behalf of the Lodge s Community Service program. Again thank you everyone for your help. Bob Bakman Community Service Chairman Special Invitation to all Legion, Higher Degree and Tehachapi Lodge Members (FREE) It is the 100th year of the Moose Legion and we are having a picnic at the Tehachapi Moose Lodge, located on F.
