I hope that all of you have enjoyed the meeting, our city and our weather. 2 The ISFFEI series Initiated in 1982, the quadrennial fruit fly symposium is being well established as a key meeting for bringing together scientists and fruit fly workers from all over the world. The purpose of this Symposium is to bring together academic, industry, research and action people from the all over the world to discuss the various aspects of fruit flies and recent developments related to Pest Management Strategies. The 8th Symposium has encouraged cooperation between participants, contribute to spread new findings, promote their practical use and highlight research needs as it has been done in the previous symposia. The Organizing Committee hope that all participants have enjoyed their stay in our city, country, and that this meeting has provide all you an exciting atmosphere to interact with all your peers of other countries. 4 sterile insects used in SIT programs. Developing alternatives for eclosion of sterile insects to allow the development of more outcompeting insects being a key factor for SIT. Scientific Advisory Services (SAS) has published a number of high quality wall posters on fruit flies (Tephritidae) of Australia and the World, as well as bell injection of bananas and insect pests and beneficials of bananas and papaws in Australia. These posters are valuable aids for primary producers as well as government quarantine agencies both in Australia and overseas. SAS has recently formed a unique partnership with Starr, an exciting young Brisbane artist to produce a unique range of insect paintings. Suterra, Headquartered in Bend, Oregon (USA), is dedicated to aiding farmers in finding workable solutions by researching, developing and commercializing alternative IPM solutions using naturally occurring attractants and semiochemical compounds to protect crops such as pome fruit, stone fruit, citrus and vegetables from insect attack. For fruit flies, the range extends beyond attractants for monitoring males and females and now includes effective attractant solutions for use in area-wide, mass trapping control campaigns and the novel attract and kill Magnet tools for both Olive Fly and Mediterranean Fruit Fly: Magnet OLI and Magnet MED.

5 Proceedings book paper format Publication of works at 8th ISFFEI Proceedings book The Organizing Committee has decided to publish the presented works (oral and poster communications) through the UPV Editorial, to have a book with a commercial ISBN to allow for an easy distribution worldwide. Delegates are free to submit their presented work (posters as well as oral communications) for its publication in this book, but please inform us that you aim to get your work published with us. Guidelines are available (download here). All the papers will be peer reviewed by a group of reviewers, prior its acceptance. Papers should be sent by to fruitfly2010@gva.es. Due to the discussion of works during the Symposium, at General Discussion or in the Poster rooms, coffee breaks, lunches, etc, the OC has decided to extend the deadline for submission of the manuscripts to improve the papers with these inputs prior to formal revision. New deadline is 15th OCTOBER. Revision of the papers will be done during October (those already uploaded during the symposium will start as soon as the reviewers agree). Authors are aimed to sent back the reviewed and improved version of their manuscripts by 15th November. Edition of the book will start as soon as possible, proofs will be sent on December, to start printing no later than 10th December. A copy of the Proceeding book will be sent to the corresponding author of each paper by post on new year Extra copies will be available through the UPV Editorial (we will keep you informed about procedures).
