2 G8 SUMMIT - JUNE 2013 This document is for visitors staying within the Fermanagh area and provides information on how to contact a GP, pharmacist or dentist locally. Information on health services such as GPs, Pharmacies and Dentists across Northern Ireland is available from the following website: HEALTH SERVICE ARRANGEMENTS IN FERMANAGH AREA Provision has been made for visitors associated with the G8 summit to avail of the following services from 6pm on Thursday 13 June to 6pm on Thursday 20 June In an Emergency If you have a medical emergency and require an ambulance, call 999 from any phone. Text Relay Dial for Emergency Calls. A medical emergency is something that is potentially immediately lifethreatening and below are some examples: Sudden collapse and the person unresponsive or not breathing; Suspected stroke or heart attack; Person unconscious perhaps after heavy blood loss or accident; Collapse preceded by facial swelling and wheeze (probable anaphylactic shock) or choking episode. In an emergency, you can also go to an Emergency Department without an appointment. The Emergency Department will treat serious injuries or conditions including fractures. 3 2013 Nokia 2013 Microsoft Corporation GP Services in Fermanagh For visitors who require urgent primary medical care from a doctor (GP) in Fermanagh, a telephone first service will be available 24 hours per day from Western Urgent Care (WUC) between 6pm on 13 th June and 6pm on 20 th June To access this service telephone or text relay Each call will be triaged and the most urgent calls dealt with first. The clinician will give advice over the telephone, provide a prescription if required, offer an appointment to be seen by a GP or, if necessary, arrange a GP visit. Patients who are offered an appointment will be advised where to attend and the time of the appointment. Patients will be asked if they are associated with the G8 summit for monitoring purposes. Please note if the condition is immediately life-threatening then telephone 999 directly (see In an Emergency section). Western Urgent Care is located at the South West Erne Hospital. (see map on top of page 3). 3

4 GP Out-of-Hours The usual arrangements for GP Out-of-Hours will still be available. If you require urgent primary medical care when GP surgeries are closed, telephone your nearest GP Out-of-Hours provider. GP Out-of-Hours services operate from 6pm each evening and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Contact us first by telephone. 8 Dental Services For visitors staying in the Lough Erne Hotel special arrangements for dental services are in place with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and are available on site.
