Duffus church is on your right Distance : 2miles Travel time : 5 minutes Duffus Parish The present church of 1869 by A&W Reid is a simple Gothic box style with a tower and spire. It replaced the old kirk of St Peter s, situated half a mile eastwards of Gordonstoun Road, whose walls still stand. There was a church here as early as 13 th Century Contact Spynie Between Findrassie and Argilzean. Turn left on leaving Duffus church. Follow the road. B9012 Distance: 6 miles Travel time: 15 minutes Spynie Parish Built in 1735 using dressed stone and the belfry from the old church. It is a traditional T plan church with two

It is a large rectangular building, with a tall tower at the northwest corner and gabled halls at the east end. The interior has been altered and modernised a little but retains its original layout. The pulpit is attached to the pipe organ. The nave has matching pews. A large stained glass window is situated below the gallery. Portgordon High Street East From Buckie, follow the A990 to Portgordon Enzie Parish This is a small church built in the fishing village of Portgordon in 1901, located in an open square. It is a simple rectangular building with a Gothic bellcote above the gable. Inside is the original gallery and the sanctuary extends the full width of the church at the north end.

5 Findochty Street, Findochty From Portgordon Travel back to Buckie. Findochty Parish linked with Portknockie Originally built as a United Presbyterian church in the 1860s, it is located on a very prominent site, on high land overlooking the fishing village. It was and still is an important landmark for fishermen. Follow the coastal route to Findochty It is a small, simple building, painted white. Inside it is simple, light and welcoming. Minister Rev. Portknockie Parish This church was built in It is a rectangular structure with the gable end on the street and Apex bellcote It was re-modelled in It is harled with a slated roof. Linked with St Giles. Modern church built in the early 20 th c.in a mixture of Norman and Gothic style. It has a tall nave, southern side aisle, and a north vestry and session house. It was sold to the sisters of mercy in 1891.The ruined

7 Leave St Columba s and turn right as far as Institution Road. Turn right, pass St Sylvester s, take first left and walk up Abbey Street. The convent is on your right. The convent and church are still in use by the Sisters of Mercy and they run a school called St Sylvester s School. Contact: reception St Sylvester s School Points of Interest Elgin High Street, Elgin Leave Greyfriar s Convent, turn right and walk straight ahead to the High Street. Turn left and walk along to pedestrian precinct. Straight ahead is St Giles 0.5 miles 10 minutes St Giles St Giles is an elegant and imposing building in centre of Elgin. It was built between using stone from the nearby Quarrywood to replace the old St Giles. It is built in the Greek Revival style with a tower rising 112ft at the east end. The upper section of the tower is a copy of the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates in Athens. Open by Arrangement

Walk up Batchen Street and on your right is the High 500 yards 5 minutes Elgin High Linked with Birnie and Pluscarden. Built as a Free in 1840 s joined with the church of Scotland in 1929 and now called Elgin High. Externally, it has no bellcote or tower.inside are round arch windows. It was built around 1140 being the first cathedral for Bishops of Moray. It is internally beautiful. Follow the Distance : 10 miles Travel time: 30 minutes Pluscarden This church was built at the end of 19 th Century. It was originally a Free. It is a small building, plain and undecorated with plain pine pews. The layout is a free

Opened as a High in Seven ministries later became St Leonard s named after the chapel of Chapelton dedicated to St Leonard. Presbyterian design of the time with pulpit taking centre stage. Services Sunday 10a.m Forres High Street Father Colin Stewart Leave St Leonard s and turn left. Continue along High Street. St Margaret s RC Situated opposite the Grant Park. Com Tel: yards 5 minutes St John s Scottish Episcopal Built in 1841 to a design by Patrick Wilson, remodelled in Italianate manner by Thomas Mackenzie, Elgin. Beautified by the laying of mosaic tiles in the chancel and aisles. The entrance is sheltered by an arcaded loggia and flanked by a campanile. Sunday services 8am,9.30am and 6pm Open daylight hours Dallas To St Michael s Dallas. Leave the church and turn right. By car take first left to the roundabout and turn first left up St Leonard s Road. Follow the road through Rafford. Take 2 nd right after Rafford, sign posted Dallas. Continue on to Dallas and at war memorial turn right. Distance 8 miles Travel time 20 minutes St Michael s Dallas Situated behind the school. Linked with St. Leonards, Forres built in 1794 replacing two earlier places of worship on the same site. It was the first church in Moray to introduce instrumental music for public worship. The Michael Cross stands in the graveyard. This was the Market Cross. It is thought that the Watch House, is the only remaining one in Moray. Sunday Services 12noon Dunphail Edinkillie, Dunphail Leave Dallas and return to Forres via Rafford. At the roundabout at the end From Dallas to Edinkillie Edinkillie Small church built in 1741 in 18 th century style, central pulpit and galleries on three sides. Beautifully

Sunday service 10.30am Follow road to Brodie Castle, turning right at the castle entrance Session Clerk Kinloss Kinloss. Leave Dyke and return to A96. Turn right and follow the road to the Kinloss B9089. In Kinloss village the church is on your right. From Dyke to Kinloss Kinloss Abbey Founded in 12 th century by Cistercian monks from Melrose In 1650 most of the buildings were demolished, sold for building Cromwell s forts at Inverness. There are still substantial remains.

Leave the church, return to traffic lights, turn left, and follow B9098 to Burghead junction just after the maltings on your right. Follow to junction and turn left into Burghead Travel along the B9089. It is a 19 th century build to replace the old church of the parish. Service last Sunday of the month 9.30a.m. Linked with Keith North.

15 Keith Situated at the bottom of Mid Street on the A96 From Rothiemay follow the B91117 to Keith 10 miles 30 minutes Keith North Built in 1845, this church became part of the of Scotland in 1929.The church hall was built in1990. There is a smaller chapel used for small group worship. There are 5 stained glass windows, one a memorial window to Rev. John Robertson, the longest serving minister of the church, erected in 2007.Sunday service 11a.m. Boharm St Rufus Parish. Linked with Botriphnie and Grange Keith 5miles 10 minutes Road, Keith On the A96 opposite the park Retrace your steps to Keith on the A95 to join the A 96 and into Keith Built in the early 19 th century, St. Rufus was a replacement for the original medieval church of Old Keith. It is a large rectangular building with tall walls and a striking west tower. Inside it is more or less complete and original early 19 th century church on a grand scale. Walk the length of Mid Street to the Square,turn right. St Thomas s is facing you. St Thomas s R.C Built in 1830, finished in 1831, the front is designed in Roman Doric style. In the chapel is a portrait of the incredulity of St Thomas and a memorial to the martyr, John Ogilvie canonised in Two statues at the front of the chapel are of St. John Ogilvie on the left and St. Thomas on the right, crafted by Father Basil Robinson of Pluscarden Abbey.
