There is a new c1ausiliid collected from south Taiwan. After comparing this new c1ausiliid with 20 Hemiphaedusa species oftaiwan, we found that this is a new species and name as Hemiphaedusa kuanmini which is dedicated in honor of Prof. Chang, K. M. for his great contribution to Taiwan landsnail study, and detailed shell morphology, radula and anatomy ofreproductive system are reported in this paper. Key words: new species, Clausiliidae, Haochar, Hemiphaedusa, kuanmini Introduction In 2000, my friend Mr. Wen-Der Chen collected several clausiliid snails from Haochar ( 好茶 ) in Pingtung County, South Taiwan. They differ from all Hemiphaedusa species of south Taiwan in possessing an aperture with weak deeply seated inferior lamella, labrum tooth and duplicated peristome. The above features make them very different from their affinities, H. ooi and H. sinilaris. We consider that 1t IS a new specles. Materials and Methods Six specimens ofthe present species from Haochar in Pingtung County were in' measured based on the following morphometric items: she1l 1ength (SL), shell width (SW), aperturallength (APL) and apertural width (APW). The ratios ofsl ISW, APLI APW were also calculated. The living specimen was relaxed and immersed in boiling water, than dissected to exam its reproductive system and radula. Hemiphaedusa kuanmini n. sp. (Fig. 1) Shell: medium in size, solid, fusiform, pale brown to purplish brown. Upper spire cylindrical with conical apex. Succeeding whor1s rapidly increasing its diameter, and reaching widest on penultimate whor1. Each whorl weakly convex with shallow

2 18 Yen-Chen Lee and Wen-lung Wu suture, about in number. Surface dull, sculptured with very weak regular fine oblique striae on fresh specimens. Aperture oblique pear shape, white in color, with thick lip, some duplicated. There is a weak tooth on outer lip near su su- perior lamella. Superior lamella connected with spirallamella lamella inwardly. Inferior lamella weak, seated deeply and biforked. Subcolumellar lamella emerged on pe- pe reg- ristome, some are weak. Principal plica very long and extend to where it is very near peristome. Upper palatal plica short, but extending to peristomal side. Lunella long, straight or weakly curviform. Lower palatal plica short connected with distal end oflunella. Lun- Clausilium: Clausilium plate very long, columellar and lunella sides are parallel. Apex obtuse, subtriangular with callous nodule but without notch formation. Clausilium has distinct sinus on projection of columellar side ofthe plate. Reproductive system: Penial sheath (PS) well developed, tortuous. Epipallus (EP) slender than penial sheath, junction between epipallus and penial sheath inconspicuous. Penial retractor (PR) wide, strong, adhered to posterior of epipallus. Vas deferens (VD) slender but slightly thickened to posterior, attached to vagina (VA) and c10se close to anterior end ofpenial sheath by a fibrous connective tissue. Oviduct (OD) rather slender and equallength length as vagina. Diverticulum (DI) tort tort- uous, rather thicker than spermathecal duct (SD), slightly longer than the comb comb- inined length of spermathecal duct and spermathecal stalk (SS). M. for his great contribution to Taiwan landsnail study.

3 Hemiphaedusa 抄 kuanmini n. sp. from Taiwan 19 Type locality Haochar (8333( 好茶 ) in Pingtung County, South Taiwan, 1200 meters in A1titude, Altitude, gathered from grass slope under leaves. Discussion The present new species is vary similar to H. odontochila in general shape, but it is smaller and with erect upper spire, and furthermore c1ausilium clausilium apex ofthe latter has notch formation which does not appear on present new species. H. exilis is another analogue, the subcolumellar lamella ofthis new species emerges on peristome, but not on H. exilis. H. ooi also resembles the present new species, they all have a tooth on outer lip near superior lamella. However H. ooi has an obtuse apex, this new species has a conical one, and it is different due to the shape of c1ausilium clausilium apex.comparing the reproductive system with its analogues, the ratio ofps+ep to SO+VA in present new species is larger than H. odontochila, H. exilis. The reproductive system ofthe present new species is almost similar to H. ooi. 6 22 Yen-Chen Lee and Wen-Iung Wen-lung Wu 好茶產新種煙管蝸牛一寬敏煙管蝸牛 李彥錚巫文隆 2 1. 台灣師範大學生命科學系 2. 中央研究院動物所 關鍵字 : 新種 煙管蝸牛科 好茶 寬敏煙管蝸牛 本種於 2000 年由陳文德先生及郭泰佑先生於屏東縣好茶採得, 作者於張寬敏教授收藏品中亦發現由黃重期先生在同一地點採集的二枚標本 本種與其他台灣的紡鍾煙管蝸牛屬各種比較之後發現 : 本種因殼較小型 螺塔頂端較尖細 閉板頂端無凹陷等特徵異於台灣紡鍾煙管蝸牛 ; 因下軸板顯出而與淡水煙管蝸牛不同 ; 另外本種的殼頂成圓錐形不同於王氏煙管蝸牛的鈍形, 此外閉板的形狀也與王氏煙管蝸牛不同 因本種特徵與其他紡鍾煙管蝸牛不盡相同, 因而命名為新種 學名是為了感謝張寬敏教授對台灣煙管蝸牛研究的貢獻因此以其姓名命名 另外要特別感謝陳文德先生及郭泰佑先生提供珍貴標本使本文得以完成
